@@animemangalover94 For me its not the mustache that tries to get into the mouth much when I don't bother to trim for ages, those hairs stick out and more parallel to the mouth naturally. It is the beard hairs from up nearer the ears/cheek that curls into the mouth most and gets me to finally trim the beard in annoyance most of the time. And compared to shaving every damn day so your face feels like course sandpaper much of the time as the pesky stuff grows back so fast, a beard is no contest massively less annoying.

As someone who has watched every minute of behind the scenes content on both LOTR and The Hobbit potentially more than I’ve watched the actual films, as well as in the study of theatrical costuming and hair/wig styling, I feel especially tuned to answer your question: I never saw dwarves with beards in curlers, though I occasionally saw a wig clipped up. I don’t think having a perfectly quaffed and curled beard is as important to dwarves as the shiny bits, which are often family heirlooms. On the other hand, the elves, whose hair somehow always hangs in a gloriously straight and glistening sheet down their back, you could often see was often in a stocking prior to shooting beginning. Orlando Bloom iconically would ponytail his wig and wear a bandanna on top. Haute Elvish couture.

@@topogigio7031 Yes, I know Tolkien wrote the Legendarium, and I've read most of his work. I'm referring to Terry Pratchett's dwarves in Discworld, where the women are literally indistinguishable from the men, and even when they choose to express their femininity, they still keep the beards because they're dwarves for goodness sake! Also, people poke fun at things they like and are popular. That was Pratchett's whole thing, he loved the fantasy genre, particularly that of Tolkien, so he lovingly jabbed at it. Don't be too serious. I hope that you have a lovely day! ❤️

beard hair is a different texture to your straight shiny hair. Crimping would probably be the closest and allow you to use less hair as it appears fuller, and then adding a texturizer would probably help with the manageability of the whole process. Although maybe female dwarves have soft silky beards?

This was an amazing topic to take on, and kudos for you doing it and taking back what rightfully belongs to us true Tolkien fans. My thought was when you had the mustache part in place, instead of trying to knot the beard in front, tucking the hair behind the mustache and using that to hold the beard into place although I recognize that would add strain on the mustache, but maybe it would work better to cover up the chin and just under the lips.

Tolkien's dwarves almost all had names that came directly from Old Norse: Dvalin, Balin, Thorin, and the rest. So I think a dwarf should wear his or her beard like the Vikings used to: sometimes loose and flowing, sometimes short or in a goatee, and sometimes braided in one or multiple strands. There was a famous Viking king who was nicknamed "Forkbeard". I like when dwarves' beards are forked in two or three parts
