This is a fine intro to this Band. However, you are being given positively the WORSTE songs as examples of artists. For instance, Neil Young has 100 albums. Try "Like a Hurricane". He also has a stage presence. For the Rolling Stones, try "Brown Sugar". Their live videos are beyond belief. For Jimi Hendrix "Purple Haze" or "All Along the Watchtower"(A Bob Dylan song) The Average White Band are Scottish. This video is dross compared to the original album track. Donald Fagen & Walter Becker are Steely Dan. Listen to ALL of "AJA". The Chuck Berry video is from Belgian TV and not even with his band. Listen to the 1962 "You Never Can Tell" and THAT was at the end of his hit period. Any Elvis track from the Sun Records sessions is 100% better than the live stuff from his declining years.
Many of us who lived through the 70’s took for granted all of the AMAZING music !!!

They were central in the disco scene, and disco itself borrows from different genres. Disco had some of the best musicians around, many of them top session musicians. Having said all that, I couldn’t stand most disco numbers. But I liked this one. I was more into JJ Cale
@CaptainBakerJason

@@Cchogan Actually they predate the disco period by several years. Like many groups across the spectrum, Earth, Wind, & Fire rode the disco wave as well. It however is a stretch to classify them as a Disco group, IMO.

How could anyone ever listen to Earth, Wind & Fire and not feel happiness? Such great talent and they always put me in a great mood! Need more EWF!
EWF is one of the most amazing bands in it’s time. Maurice White and Philip Bailey are the vocalists, Philip is the higher voice. Great horn section
Can’t remember my high school days without thinking of Earth Wind and Fire, and I’m a hard rocker! In the 70’s every kind of music was played on radio and listened to great time!!
Back in 1977 my best friend and I went camping for a weekend (we were 12 years old) and we took three 8-track tapes with us. One was Earth wind and fire, one was KC and the sunshine band, and the other one was Supertramp. And we played those tapes so much that we wore out about 16 D cell batteries on our portable 8-track radio stereo.

My friends and I always joked that in order for Phillip Bailey to hit that high note at the end of the song, someone must have squeezed his balls. Seriously though - his voice is just ridiculous.
RIP Maurice White, rock on Philip Bailey!
They changed as the years went on to suit the fans and music change. Funk to disco, to disco funk, disco, jazz funk and r&b. Their talents are immeasurable.
Verdine White laid down some of the funkiest bass lines I have ever heard. But you should watch him (and them) perform live, they were even better on stage than in the studio.
Earth Wind and Fire is funk, jazz, rock, R&B, pop, soul..... there's no labeling of the better bands because it takes influence from everything to be great.
Earth, Wind & Fire is an American band that has spanned the musical genres of R&B, soul, funk, jazz, disco, pop, dance, Latin, and Afro pop. They have been described as one of the most innovative and are among the most commercially successful acts of all time.

One of the greatest bands ever. EWF, “The elements of the universe.”1st black band that received a stadium budget and played before massive audiences around the world. This song is not disco, but they did a couple of disco tunes.
This is the most hopeful song ever. It is about the world that could be.
Ok Anyways "Fantasy" song is about the Triumph over the struggles in the Life and how we as humans will transform into higher beings and elevate to another higher dimension which many call "Heaven" and others call "Paradise." Most songs of Earth Wind & Fire is about Love & Truth transforming Humanity into greater beings and the struggles getting there. " That's The Way of The World" by Earth Wind & Fire is my request for your next reaction to this group.

Yes! Your description is spot on.They were so much more thanR&B and Soul. They were part of the early 70s expanding mentality. They were almost New Age in their prsentation with the outfits and the taking us TO THE SKIES. GREAT DESCRIPTION. Everyone needs to remember the 5th Dimension did Age of Aquarius...well EW&F took that message in a different direction. They were an intricate weave of rhythms and yet a message that took us to the skies.
Yes!!!👏👏👏 Earth Wind and Fire has it all; rhythm, vocals and HORNS!! Their catalog is huge, and you can’t go wrong with anything they do, but I recommend “That’s The Way Of The World”, and “Love’s Holiday”🔥🔥🔥

Also Lady Sun and Boogie Wonderland
Earth, Wind, and Fire (EWF)....the greatest band of all time. The late Maurice White is founder of the band who wrote most of their music & sang lead/background vocals. Phillip Bailey is the other lead singer with the falsetto. He's known for his high register....been known to hit notes as high as Mariah Carey. EWF was not a disco band. "Boogie Wonderland" was probably their only disco song & they only did that song due to pressure to do a disco song because it was in at the time. But EWF did mostly R&B, Funk, Great Ballads. Their heyday was the 70s & they were huge. The 1st concert I ever went to in 1975....."The Way of the World" tour. You guys need to check out some stuff from that album...."Reasons"...."Can't Hide Love"...."Shining Star"....the title track "That's the Way of the World". All of their albums are classics.
“After the love is gone” Is a special song! Please enjoy!

That rabbit hole is deep!
We were spoiled with such many great groups and artists in the 70’s and 80’s , so much good music that was loved by everyone, young and old, kids, teens and parents loved the same music fit the most part.
Earth, Wind & Fire made a smooth transition into the disco era, adapting their R&B sound to the new groove. "Fantasy," written by group members Maurice and Verdine White along with the keyboard player/composer Eddie del Barrio, fit right in at Studio 54, but also had a deeper meaning, which was typical of Maurice White's productions: he would put a message on top of an infectious beat. Talking about the message in this song, Maurice told Melody Maker: "The song 'Fantasy' is motivated about escapism in the sense of living on a world that is untrue, a world that is unjust, a world that is very selfish and envious, there is a place that everyone can escape to which is their own fantasy. I had to write the song in the sense of sharing this place with people. It's an escape mechanism."
I LOVE this band! Check out their song Shining Star!!!
EWF was simply an exceptional R&B group; popular during the disco era, but not a disco band. They are phenomenal musicians and singers - very gifted.
When I was a kid this song put me in a trance. The rhythm, the vocals, the melody was so sweet. Unique & magical.
Please do more EWF!!!! "Reasons" "September " "Let's Groove" "Got To Get You Into My Life" "Shing Star" "After The Love Is Gone" "Boogie Wonderland " "Sing A Song" "That's The Way of The World" "Serpentine Fire"

This song makes you feel like you can do anything. Like once you have purposed in your mind a particular thing no one and I mean no one can stop you. It's just inspirational in lyrical content and the falsetto and beat help reinforce that idea.
The lyrics to this song were written by Eddie del Barrio, an old friend of my family's. I remember when the album came out, he couldn't stop bragging about it! :D

Kool and the Gang and the Commodores next please…..I was lucky enough to see Earth Wind and Fire with the band Chicago a few times. Their encore was amazing. About 20 plus performers on stage at one time…..
One of the best things about EWF is that they don't just repeat the same verses like most songs, they change the arrangements by singing higher and higher, or elaborating musically.
When you went to see them in concert, you never sit down because everyone is is dancing... They were incredible when I saw them in Seattle in 1983.
You guys will love any song of theirs. Maurice White was the leader and passed away in 2016 from Parkinson's disease. Hit me hard as they are my favorite group and my papa also had Parkinson's and passed away on Christmas eve 2018. I have and always will LOVE this group. ❤

Earth, Wind, & Fire is the greatest band ever!
This song always takes me back to Fall 1996 when I was a junior in high school and our marching band did a EW&F competition show. This was one of the songs. But it wasn't until a couple years ago that I discovered the full version of it which contains my favorite part: As you glide in your stride with the wind as you fly away give a smile from your lips and say, "I am free. Yes, I'm free. Now, I'm on my way." It makes me think of when I came out and was ready to be myself openly.
Earth Wind and Fire still tours to this day.
I find myself hitting the like button before even listening. This is another great group. I love all the variety that you are bring, but would love to see you go down more of the rabbit holes. Maybe one day a week or one of your three could be going down the rabbit hole of some. If you do, don’t forget the ladies. :) Shania!

I do the same thing - click like before playing the video. I know likes help and it’s easier to just cluck it then go onto the video.
Gotta get you into my life is another. This is a classic group, started in the 60s...went through disco and kept going..
EARTH WIND & FIRE! The greatest crossover band of all TIME! Soul, Pop, disco, Rock, they mastered it all. Y'all young people have really missed out on the best music.......
Whenever this song came on the radio I would stop everything just to enjoy the experience 😍 So glad you were recommended it 💖💖💖
September is my favorite but also "Let's Groove Tonight" and "Boogie Wonderland."
The most fun thing about reactions is to almost re-experience the feelings of hearing songs like this for the first time. I would love to listen to this song as a kid growing up in the 80's!
I came from a well-rounded musical background. My dad had very eclectic musical tastes and I used to listen to all of his records (He also played drums). I'm old enough to be your father, so I'm familiar with most of the songs your review. I'm surprised that you're not familiar with these performers but overwhelmed by your joy and excitement when you listen to them. I'm an O.G. bass player and you two have me revisiting these songs and playing them. Some I've played a lot over the years and some I've never played. Thank you for the fresh look at old songs.
I remember when my daughter was younger and we talked about lots of different types of music, and she asked me what my favorite song of all time was, and the first thing I said was September by Earth Wind & Fire. Of course she listened to the song and became an instant fan even at a young age to a song that was 30+ years old! Nice reaction from you guys! There are lots of EWF songs to react to: Boogie Wonderland, Shining Star, Sing A Song, Let's Groove, Got To Get You Into My Life (written by Lennon & McCartney), and After The Love is Gone are all excellent. Enjoy!!!
My favorite has always been when EWF did their New World Symphony. It really showcases the unbelievable musicianship in this band. Oh, and don't forget Can't Hide Love.
You guys must hear Easy Lover, with Ohil Collins and Philip Bailey, the singer of Fantasy in the Band EWF

Saw them live in the early 80's, the stage show was absolutely massive !!! About 15 people on stage and loads of explosions and lasers.
