Peter, just finished watching the film here in my country. I just want to thank you for making this film possible. I have been following the production since day 1 (thanks to your video blogs) and until earlier today (scrambling to the theaters). The first line spoken by Bilbo (Holm) automatically made my eyes brimming with tears. This is one of my happiest days. Love from the Philippines.

I think I loved this scene so much because I spent so many years playing Dungeons & Dragons, and this is how so many epic adventures got started. A motley group of characters sitting around a table with food and drink, dreaming of gold and glory... awesome. These scenes in Bag End were by far my favorite in the film. :)

Peter, that was absolutely great. Its such a great subtext in this scene, and Freeman played it so well. It is so deep I felt it in my bones. This is truly cinema - less audio, more to see. If I may ask, what did you tell Freeman, that made that scene pop out.

Until now I would have agreed with you. Most 3D movies, unless completely CG have been very hard to watch; movies made in "fake 3D" like clash of the titans even more so. The Hobbit shows that 3D cinema has a future. Part of this is the fact that 48fps makes the temporal flicker that tends to screw with your eyes during action scenes less noticable, and the second is that the crew really knew what they were doing and made the most of what they had to play with.

That's one positive way to describe what would you be if you lose a fight to a dragon. Flash of light, searing pain, then poof, you're nothing more than a pile of ash.

Ha! This scene looks so weird in 24 2D now! 48 3D was GREAT. 5-15 min of adjustment and I was flying with it. The CGI blended with everything else seamlessly. Thank you Sir Peter Jackson for this Movie and the risk you take in doing something different in the name of progress in our entertainment. Thank You.

If the fps causes any sickness it might also have to do with the dark theatre rooms your watching it in. And as for evolving, cameras "evolve" a million times faster then the eye and brain.

This film was absolutely fantastic. The Goblin King was a bit too much of a comic-relief, but, seeing as the book itself is a light-hearted, fun children's book, it still works as a whole. Saw it in 3D at 48FPS, and I must say, people should not be worried. It is easily the best 3D I have ever seen (better than Avatar by a long shot, by the way), and the 48FPS just makes the battle scenes more fluid at immersing.

I think it's different, you get used to 48 fps (although at first I felt like they were showing the movie in fastforward, probably because I had seen it in 24 a week before), but I got used to it. But 3D still kinda hurts my eyes after a while, not to mention the glasses who sometimes don't fit on your face and you have to hold them for 3hours otherwise they fall (or prevent you from breathing)

Saw the movie today (twice-yeeeaah! i said it!).. What's my favorite part in the movie?? EVERYTHING!! By the way, thanks to the cast and crew of The Hobbit for bringing this beautiful piece of literature to life! And, yeah, I like the Trilogy idea--the thing about it though is the waiting part... What's with all the dislike on the 48fps? I say it made me see things that usually are ignored or unnoticed and I loved it! I'm so excited for the next movie! Why make us wait for so looong??
