Give a Little Bit Singer/Songwriter Roger Hodgson of Supertramp, with Orchestra

Музыка

"Give a Little Bit has a wonderful message that makes people light up and I get them to sing with me. It really has a message that is very eternal and is needed even more today than it was when I wrote it when I was 19. The song is very simple but yet very powerful. It's all about reaching out and giving and caring."~Roger Hodgson #givealittlebit
See Roger performing "Give a Little Bit"! You could be in the audience singing along & dancing to favorites that Roger also gave us: Breakfast in America, The Logical Song, Take the Long Way Home, Dreamer, School, It's Raining Again, Fool's Overture & more www.RogerHodgson.com or / rogerhodgson

LYRICS: www.rogerhodgson.com/lyrics/ly...
Roger Hodgson is a visionary. Over 40 years ago he wrote this song for exactly the times we're living in today. What makes this man a legend? His message of love and peace, his courage to say give a little bit, and his creative genius. Roger, co-founder of Supertramp, donated his signature song to help raise funds for Tsunami Relief, Red Cross, UNICEF, World Vision, Hurricanes Katrina and Sandy efforts, and many other worthy causes. Over 35 years after writing this classic, Roger received an award for it being one of the most performed songs in the ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) repertory.
"Give a Little Bit" Written & Composed by Roger Hodgson
Give a little bit
Give a little bit of your love to me
I'll give a little bit
I'll give a little bit of my love to you
There's so much that we need to share
So send a smile and show that you care
I'll give a little bit
I'll give a little bit of my life for you
So give a little bit
Give a little bit of your time to me
See the man with the lonely eyes
Oh, take his hand, you'll be surprised
Mm, take it now
Ooh come along
Oh, yeah yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
Give a little bit
Oh, give a little bit of your love to me
Oh, give it, give it, give it now
Give a little bit
I'll give a little bit of my life for you
Now's the time that we need to share
So find yourself, we're on our way back home
Oh, we're goin' back home
Don't you need, don't you need to get back home
Oh, yeah, we're goin' back home
We gotta get a feelin'
Mm, gotta get a feelin'
Mm, get a feelin' right now
Oh, right now
Mm, Come-a come-a come-a come along
We've come a long way
Oh, what a long ride
We've come a long way
Well, can we sing it tonight

The message of "Give a Little Bit" is to light many candles with a single candle, sharing of ourselves, our love and our smiles with others, showing that you care. I saw Roger perform this one with orchestra in Milwaukee and the energy felt in the room was so palpable, the feeling's been with me ever since. I have to say Roger's still got it! Let's do it all over again :D

One of my favorite songs from one of my favorite albums. I was about 15 years old, had my first real quality home stereo, and was really into the rock music scene with a zeal! I played this album, "Even In The Quietest Moments" from start to finish maybe more than anyone else ever. This song was always cranked. What a great song!

I hope the Amazon advert inspires some younger people to search out the wonderful music that Supertramp came out with in the 70's and 80's. They were an absolutely brilliant band that were not appreciated as much as they should have been. Roger Hodgson seen here still tours today and his unique voice has held up really well.

Great message this song shows us. It's so simple but so difficult. The perfect song for solidarity, in fact, Roger has given it for so many humanitary causes, which honours him. And what to say when you can enjoy it in the shows. It's a blast! Everybody stands with a big smile on our faces. How much happiness we can feel. It's perfect to sing along. Many times we feel the need to hug one to each other during this song. Roger usually plays it at the end of the shows, and it's the best way to come back home humming this timeless song, as many others by Roger.

Músicas marcantes como " The logical song", "Give a little bit", "Goodbye Stranger", It's Rainning Again", "Free As A Bird", " Sister Moonshine", "You Win I Lose" são excelentes marcas registradas do Supertramp e estarão sempre na minha memória, duma porrada de metal com harmonia de guitarra, bateria e teclados psicodélicos. I had the priviligie of seing this show in Spain and when Roger appeared and sang this song along with three other (perhaps even less) it was a moment that I never forget in my life. Roger sounds extremely well when he is playing with an orchestra. It is as if his songs were written to perform them like this. But the actual band who is on tour with him is as wonderful as it was Supertramp. Don´t miss the oportunity to see them if you have the chance. You don´t regret this advice.

If we all lived by the credo that Roger is telling us about in this gem of a song the world would undoubtedly be a better place. Hearing this song performed with a symphony orchestra is great; we were lucky to see this in person in 2016 at Casino Rama in Canada, however hearing it sung by Roger with his excellent band is equally stirring. We have been lucky to be able to attend Roger’s shows at least once every year since I became aware of Roger’s touring in 2010 and each show occupies a special place in my heart. If you get the opportunity to see Roger with his band/ symphony orchestra do yourself a favor and go. It will be a night you’ll never forget.

It's one thing to be able to play in the orchestra or sing in the choir, but when you're a part of one of the most joyful songs ever written and with the singer who wrote it, it has to be quite the emotional experience!
