I am Turkish, and I own the same gun, made by Girsan but sold as "Yavuz 16" over here in Turkey. I have the "Defender" model, which is the compact version, like 1/3 inch shorter is all, the rest is the same as the full size one. Comes with two 18 round magazines, manufactured by Mec-Gar for Girsan. I have always been fascinated with the simplicity, accuracy and the reliability of the Beretta 92FS but since import guns are very expensive over here, I decided to go local, turns out it was the best decision. Although it is a clone, Girsan made some mods on it and they are all spot on. IMHO, it is a clone that's better than the original.

I agree….. Turkish guns are really hitting their stride the past 5 years or so….. I just bought a “golden Horse” semi auto shotgun (clone of a Benelli model) last year and it’s darn good….9+1 capacity too. Your country is doing a good job saving folks around the world money with nice inexpensive guns. Thx

The Girsan Regard isn't a clone, it's a commercial version of the M9 that Girsan made under license from Beretta, made with the same tooling to the same standards as the Italian guns. They are less expensive because of where they are produced, not because they are in any way inferior to a Beretta. Girsan installs a NATO 20 pound hammer spring - install a $4 Beretta 'D' spring and your DA pull with smooth out to a tolerable 9 pounds.

The Girsan Regard is a very beautiful handgun.

I went to buy a Beretta 92 and the guy at the store showed me the Girsan. It was 200.00 cheaper so it wasn’t like he was trying to sell me something more expensive. How often do you get more for less? I’ve tried both and I like the Girsan much more. Plus it holds one extra round than the Beretta. Best but ever!

I’m still checking out the Regard MC testimonials and I’ve been watching for three weeks, not one bad word spoken of the Girsan! God, thank you, for mine. A lot of the reviews even use the “better” than beretta term. I’m not sure how you can say it shoots better, both were cut on the same machine, and the fit and finish is different than beretta, but nothing that effects the function. Great addition to the bunch.

For your trigger pull: take the hammer spring out of the grip and cut two coils off. This will knock some of the pull weight down. It will remain reliable with a lighter pull.

this video makes me wanna get one even more, every girsan regard i've looked at had the front rail. knowing they come with out it makes it a sold for me

I didn't know they even sold this model without the rail. I got my girsan SIX without seeing much about them, except what I found online while in the store. It just felt perfect in my hand. I may replace a couple springs in it, and put glo paint on the sight or such. I had a laser on it, but it was just too damn big to fit in my holster. Mine is extremely accurate, and I'm not usually great with 9mm semiautos. I traded my polymer hellcat for this. That tiny thing weighed like 1/3 of what this weighs, but there was nothing to hold onto, and 3" barrels often don't fire hollow points fast enough to open them up. This is the smoothest firing gun I've ever owned, and I've had some high dollar guns.

I check one of these out last time I was at SW and was very impressed by it. Honestly it seemed nicer than the recent Beretta"s.

Love mine. I bought a Girsan MC 1911 a year or two ago and loved the quality of it. When I went looking for a Beretta 92 there was a Regard in the cabinet as well, so I spent a fair amount of time comparing the two side by side. I honestly liked the Girsan better and purchased it over the Beretta. It's been a fantastic weapon and I have no regrets. Side note, my sister owns a camp in Sinnemahoning. Beautiful area up there.

To give an update, I bought the Girsan Regard, took it out and shot it, absolutely love it! I compared it to the Beretta in my local gun shop and liked the feel, finish, and action better than the Beretta, I've never liked striker fired pistols, and I especially don't like polymer guns, I too am a huge revolver guy, I have several and really enjoy them for everyday carry, the weight and size doesn't bother me, I also prefer leather OWB pancake holsters, that's all I own, and I bought the Desantis OWB pancake leather holster for this Regard, very comfortable and concealable even with shorts and a tshirt. Funny that you mentioned your cabin is located in north central Pennsylvania, I grew up just over the border from Genesee PA in NY! Thanks again for the great review, I couldn't be happier with the Girsan regard, awesome pistol!

Great overview of the Girsan, I have one and would never sell it. Lots of firepower and very well made.

I got Girsan 92 took it to the range I wiped it down because it was majorly oily right out of the box I went through two three boxes 115 grain no Jam no nothing had a cluster of a golf ball to a tennis ball size grouping and I have 9 mm and they do not have anything compared to this they're scattered all around the grouping on this I love it this is my everyday carry

Bought my Girsan Regard MC for 400 with the pic rail as my first gun. Love it.

Great review on the Girsand Regaard. I just bought one and I'm awaiting its arrival. For the part about the magazine release being ambidextrous, yes it is. However; when swapping it out if you don't have it inserted into the frame the correct way, you will struggle getting it to seat (During my Beretta Armorer's course I must have fought with it for fifteen minutes while breaking a sweat...but that was just me not doing it right. If you seat it correctly, it pops right in). Anyway, the Double action on the Beretta (and I assume the Girsan) is 11 pounds. The single is around 4. The department I work for carries the Beretta 92D, which is Double Action Only (Yeah, it's fun trying to qualify with that). As a final note; I completely agree with you about the polymer guns and their trigger mounted "safety" lever. Never liked the idea and I think it is a liability.

I may be wrong but the girsan DA trigger pull feels like 16+ lbs. To be honest I dont mid all that much because it gives me the option to carry with the safety off while maintaining a good degree of safety.

Yeah mine is the oldest model of the regard….. It reminded me most of the old 1980’s beretta so I chose it over the newer one….. Still might get myself the new model as well just to have.

Probably the safest guns available. Its the easiest gun I own to shoot. Don't have to face west or hold your mouth just right and stand on one foot like my CZ'S and XDM They are very picky. Regard is point, aim, shoot, repeat. Just bought a Girsan 1911 .45acp quickly becoming my favorite 1911 as soon as the slide gets fully broke in. Paid less than 450.00 each.

I love polymer guns as much as the next guy but there really is something special about metal framed guns. They just feel so authoritative and real. My first airsoft gun as a kid was a replica of a sig p226, and i immediately fell in love it. When I became a adult I started buying all the popular plastic guns like you did but I always felt like I could never find the gun I was after. I finally decided to fork up the thousand bucks or so and bought a sig p226 mk25 last week. Hands down my favorite gun. Felt like sharing since we have somewhat similar stories and also because the p226 and the beretta 92 are forever linked together in history. Can’t really mention one without the other. Anyways… this clone seems pretty good quality, I’ve never been super into the beretta 92 but I’ve always appreciated it’s unique features and beauty. Maybe I’ll get one of these some time, since I don’t feel particularly compelled to spend full price for the real thing. This gun seems perfectly adequate.

The 226 does have one heck of a feel in the hand….. The ergos are very similar to the 92. The patent is up on it soon and I would imagine we will see clones of the 226 in coming years.

Bought one a week ago (w/ pic rail), took it to the range today. Wow, low recoil compared to my CZ P09 and Glock 19 ! Very accurate at 25 yds and grouping was best I've ever shot. Price was great compared to Beretta 92FS, and the quality is also very good. Forget the Taurus 92, this is better, and I don't think one could tell the difference shooting Beretta and Girsan. Didn't think the trigger was too heavy for me, but agree the sights are tight and prefer Glock U sights. Too bad the front sights can't be replaced (?)

Just curious... What is better with the Glock U sights?

Just bought one after watching a bunch of videos raving with no reservations. Scored one with a red dot for just north of 500. Already stoked about it, but you tested it with my Extreme Defender ammo, which was my only question. Thanks! I’ll run a few through there, just to make sure, but thanks! Can’t wait to get it!

I've had the same one for a about a year. The red dot that comes with it is awesome, has held zero the entire time battery lasts forever even tho the dot is always on (which I love) and the sights co witness the dot. Win all the way around

I'm in central PA and I picked one up at the gunshow last sunday in Bloomsburg. EAA manufactures excellent firearms and the regard is definitely a winner.

This Regard Six has a unique longer slide than the other Regard models which are more of a Beretta clone.

Any idea why Girsan doesn’t make the Regard MC in .40S&W any longer? There is very little information on them. I have one I may sell at some point. Thanks!

I really liked mine til I noticed how much play was in the slide and barrel. It sort of randomly just hangs around whatever specific orientation it wants at the time. In order for it to be nearly accurate I have to make sure I've pressed the slide one direction while forcing the barrel the other a little bit so the sights actually line up with POI.

Which model is this? It looks smaller than the MC. I really like it and am looking into getting one. Is it still 18+1?

I will say that a lot of the locking block issues were caused by aftermarket parts the US government bought to save money. Early locking block issues were caused by the government firing ammunition that the m9 was not rated for.

@@Gabthar there was nothing wrong with the Beretta M9 / 92 design actually what the military was doing is they were running proof or + p+ ammunition and destroying the guns because it was Way beyond the design parameters of the weapon. Beretta took the weapons back and preformed extensive tests and determined it was the grossly overpowered ammunition and not the design of the weapon therefore they turned around and sued the US government for damage to their reputation and won a huge settlement. Once The ammunition problem was corrected they never had another problem with the M9 series again.

Double action on the Regard is about 11 pounds. Single action is around 6. I'm with you on the "trigger safety", BS. Can't have a safety on he trigger. I have several Glocks, never had a problem but not into a so called trigger safety. Keep up the good work.

Does the recover tactical grip rail system work with this?

The gun sure looks great, its like a mix of a Beretta 92 and a model 84 ?!

You right about the holster evolution, i'm guilty. Another thing I agree with you on too. Many guys were too hung up corn trigger Pole. Why would I want a hair trigger for a concealed carry pistol. And I love pancake holsters too.

have a mc bx any girsan can be upgraded with beretta parts easy one change to a 14 pound hammer spring it will shoot smoother but keep the way you feel comfortable with

Learned a lot from your video, Prepper! I shoot 1911s the best and am considering putting a short-pull trigger on my Wilson Combat 92G Centurion to improve my ability to shoot the gun more accurately. I think the very long-pull trigger on the gun effects my accuracy. Your thoughts? Also, I have a Kimber Pro Aegis 11 in 9mm, would you kindly let me know your favorite 1911 make and model (under or close too $1200)?

My 1911 experience is limited….. I have shot a Kimber (in 45) and have owned two 1911’s myself…. An Auto Ordinance GI reproduction which is was a horrible jam- o-matic . Then the Remington R1S….. Which is incredibly accurate and reliable with just about any magazine. When I shot the Kimber it was in a friendly competition with a friend against the Hi point JHP.45…… Him an I both shot better with the Hi-point. That being said, the Kimber did shoot well, it’s just for some reason the Hipoint is amazingly accurate.

put in the Beretta Hammer D Spring. It is so smooth. Glass smooth. Also, u and i already know that the heavy DA pull is for safety purposes, so we can't really fault Girsan for that. Also also, u probably found out already, but the barrel is proprietary.

It isn't for safety, Girsan builds the Regard to NATO specs, so it has a 20# hammer spring to fire ANY ammo it encounters. For a consumer gun, you can buy a Beretta 'D' 16# spring for $4, lowering your DA pull to a manageable 9 pounds without affecting reliability at all.

Does the girsan regard accept beretta 92 15 round magazines?

Yes it does..... including the 10 round commie state mags and old school 15 round ones from the 80s! ...... Newer 18 round Mech Gar mags work great too.

I have tried the Beretta magazines in my Girsan and the Beretta magazines do not stay open after the last shot but they do work , but i have tried the Mec Gar Beretta magazines and they actually work better and they stay open after the last shot, so in my opinion i would get the Mec Gar Beretta magazines.

@@gilmelendez14 the fix for that is you change the slide stop. Get yourself a Beretta M9 slide stop and then you can use any magazine you like. And yes the slide will lock back after the last round. How do I know because I have a bunch of surplus usgi Beretta M9 magazines and I changed the slide stop level on both of my regards for this very reason. So instead of buying $35 magazines from whomever you can run surplus usgi magazines for $10 a piece. If you compare the two slide stops where they engage the follower, the follower engagement point on the girsan unit is angled a little differently and slightly shorter, it doesn't allow it to engage beretta followers correctly.

Don't let the slide drop on an empty chamber, I've heard it can wear out your gun. Not 100% sure but it makes since cause it sounds all harsh

Beretta doesn't use plastic parts in the 92 series, they're just polymer coated to help with grime. The double action pull shouldn't be a deal breaker for you either, since you can spend under 20 dollars on a lighter hammer spring.

The 92 guide rod is all plastic...... Other than that Yes I have heard the other parts that seem plastic are aluminum coated with Teflon. But of all the parts to make plastic.... The rod? Crazy..... Maybe the newer ones are different but it would seem the old military surplus models all have plastic.

@@prepperlife5536 they were changed to plastic specifically due to reliability issues from USMC feedback. Metal guide rods can bend, and in the event they do, they stay bent, causing cycling issues. The polymer guide rod can flex and bend while retaining it's shape. Out of all the polymer parts used in post M9A1 92s, this is the most important one for reliability in adverse conditions.

@@InvidiousIgnoramus Good luck bending a guide rod on the Girsan Regard - I could do chin ups from mine without it flexing. First time I've ever heard anyone endorse a polymer rod over a steel one for reliability, and I'm not buying it. A genuine Beretta 'D' weight hammer spring costs about $4, not $20, if you install it yourself. The US military also screwed up the reliability of the initial M9 magazines with their bogus specifications, so they're hardly the band to march to.

@@shawnwells5719 You have exaggerated the durability to the point of absurdity, and I'm not the only one to "endorse" polymer and polymer coated guide rods. "Under 20 dollars" refers to the entirety of the hammer spring aftermarket, not just a Beretta D spring. The military sourcing out of spec 3rd party replacement parts has absolutely nothing to do with them requesting polymer coated components DIRECTLY FROM Beretta.

Anyone know if you can use +p or +p+ ammo in these?

Yes it can.

The Front sight can be drilled out for a tritium insert or have it machined off and milled dovetail.

I have found pretty much the same thing in that I shoot steel and alloy frame pistols better that polymer frame guns. The exception being the Walter PPQ which is awesome and I find groups much better than the Glock 19, Glock 34, Sig 2022, Beretta PX4 Storm, S&W M&P, SV9VE, FN FNP, Ruger American, 9E and Security Six.

Prepper, you mentioned that you had ordered a fancier pancake holster. Please let know what you ordered?

Have you ever shot a hi point.. I have a few more expensive semis but bought one a c9 to see what the hate is about.. lol.. yep it's all ego and b.s. .. mine has ran fine with several different ammos even hollow points.. dead on accurate and totally reliable.. it runs neck and neck with my 19x as far as joy to shoot.. the big difference is the glock has a more defined trigger.. sooo is it worth another 400 over the hi point.. at this point nope.. so say what you want.. its heavy..so is a 1911.. it only holds 8 rounds.. so does a 1911.. so as a tool for defense.. I'm sold.. I'm going to buy a second one to see if the first is a fluke.. oh and I like the looks of it..

I’ve been shooting it more and more….. It’s by far the most accurate pistol I own ( and I own 15). Best deal out there right now for sure.

A weapon is only as safe as it's handlers.

The trigger safety is designed to stop the trigger from moving rearward when the gun is dropped on the back side of the gun. That's it. People are confused.

Actually the safety completely disengages the trigger altogether..... Meaning that you can pull the trigger all the way back with the safety on and it does nothing (like the 92) The safety also flips a solid steel plate in front of the firing pin so that like you said it is 100% drop safe as well.

Some people get hung up on the trigger this guy gets hung up on the safety lol. I carry a Glock and it’s never just gone off because of that little trigger safety. Bottom line is use gun safety and it’ll be alright
