Beretta 92FS VS Girsan Regard

The Girsan Regard and the Beretta 92FS are very close in design, but there are clear differences that may sway your decision.

I have several Berettas and two Girsans. The Girsans have all metal parts (no polymer) and the fit and finish is a big step above the Berettas. The price is lower than the Berettas but the quality is higher.

I am so impressed with GiRSAN. The value is incredible as they’ve actually paid attention to detail and improved the design of the Beretta. There even seems to be more care involved in the actual milling process of the GiRSAN. I like the fact that your only complaint was that it didn’t show wear enough, lol. For you that may be a loss but for the rest of us, a definite win!

I was proud of GIRSAN, the brand of my country, which produces the clone of the world's most well-known weapon brand with finer workmanship than the original. Thanks for your detailed explanation. Dünyanın en çok tanınan silah markasının klonunu orijinalinden daha iyi ince işçilikle üreten ülkemin markası GİRSAN ile gurur duydum. I bought a MC R9 two weeks ago and take it to the range today, fired 110 rounds, 3 differents types, and the gun works amazing. It´s so accurate, so smooth and looks so well made, I'm really impressed with turkish products, nobody can say, that only italians make things with passion. In my country a beretta 92 cost twice than a Girsan mc r9, very good deal. Next, I'll buy an Akkar or a Hatsan shotgun.

The frame on the Beretta is anodized aluminum. The slide has a Bruniton finish, the bbl has a phosphate finish. Girsan made over 100K for Turkish cops and military; they have a proven record. It passed mil-spec tests tougher than the M9 and M11 did. The locking block'slide changes improve durability of that part (they are tested to 30K rounds, as opposed to the 5-7K for the Beretta M9/SIG M11). Not often you can get more and pay less.

Beretta 92FS / M9 is my dream pistol!!! I recently acquired the Girsan this year, other than it being a nearly identical copy, the price tag is what got me and I LOVE IT!!!! So far I have changed out a few parts and springs with a Wilson Combat kit I picked up. Needless to say, I'm getting 3 more... one for the wife, one for my off hand, and one disassemble for spare parts.. Great video bro, you got a new sub today!!

Yes I just picked up a Beretta 92fs and I am very disappointed in the quality of the firearm. I am a machinist so I take a very thorough look at all the details and frankly it's machined like crap in my opinion. It works fine and looks good but there are pits in the barrel (imperfections in the steel), there are a ton of casting marks on the slide and overall the machining marks look rushed and lack the quality I was expecting. I'll be picking up a Girsan in the coming weeks. Great video by the way, excellent comparison.

@@antoniotula262 I do not have a girsan personally, but my father owns the girsan regard. In comparison to the Beretta it has its own pros and cons in my opinion (again from the eyes of a machinist). The machining on the girsan is excellent, on par with the machining of Smith & Wesson (which I have observed to be absolutely outstanding). The locking block design is different (I'm not entirely sure if that's better or worse), The barrel of the girsan doesn't have much of a crown on it, and the nice thing about the girsan is when you reassemble it after Field stripping the takedown lever will automatically flip to the assembled position. In terms of shooting and feel they are nearly identical, both are extremely accurate and extremely reliable (as well as good looking). The girsan has finger grooves while my Beretta doesn't and frankly I have no preference on that. Honestly you couldn't go wrong with either one although I can't speak on the longevity of the girsan but it appears to be made with high quality.

I saw a EAA 92fs clone at the gun store recently and as a guy who has in a span of 8 years, bought probably 5 different 92fs style guns I was impressed with the feeling of the EAA. The slide moved like glass on glass which is what you get out of the higher end berretta's. The trigger wasn't bad either. It came with a rail for lasers or flashlights. Nd it had a pretty decent price tag on it. I have no experience shooting them and putting actual work on it but my first impressions just from holding it and playing with it a bit was, its a well built m9 clone. I've also been a pretty big advocate on the Taurus PT92. I swear by it. The Taurus 92 is everything the 92FS is just with better minor details like a traditional thumb safety over the slide mounted safety. I fully feel confident in the PT92 with my life carrying EDC. Its a great option. Now I've owned multiple name brand M9's nd the thing with them as far as I'm concerned is, when you buy a berretta, your going to get a great gun, but you'll get a great gun with a Taurus too. It comes down to me like this, do I want the NAME BRAND on my shit or do I even care? Yes berretta has some amazing new handguns in the 92FS style. I would love to go get a new one soon. But that's for my collection! When your talking actual EDC, ill take a Taurus BEFORE I take a berretta, Cause if anything happens to my gun, its not as big of a set back. The Taurus pt92FS is a GREAT option of EDC I would argue BETTER than a berretta because its just as good, has all the features, functions flawlessly, and is half the price. The PT92's are even made in an old berretta factory in brazil that Taurus bought out from berretta. So same tools, same process, same everything, berretta uses to build its M9's. But Taurus is charging like 450 for it because they don't have that name brand boosting their cost. Those Beretta cost more than they should simply because its Berretta, and Italian shit always has to be expensive.

Took mine to the range for the first time tonight and damn, very happy. Well made, fit and finish very nice (I have the 2 tone version and it's a handsome gun), action smooth and precise, a smooth and soft shooter with very friendly recoil. Feels good in a slightly large way (as compared to my CZs and PPQs) to my medium sized hands. Shoots well - slightly low at 15ft, slightly less low at 21ft, right in at 30ft for me with Winchester 115gr FMJs. Shot 100 rounds with no issues. I'm impressed. The DA is heavy and I'll likely change to a lighter main spring but the SA is pretty nice. The trigger pull is softer/less crisp than my CZs but still pretty nice. I shot it almost as well as I shoot my stock CZ SP-01 tactical. And most importantly, I really, really enjoyed shooting it. A definite winner and huge bargain. And a great, affordable intro to the Beretta 92 series of guns. I'm headed to the range again tomorrow and I'm looking forward to shooting it some more. Oh and one negative: the front sight is fixed. Wish I could change it to a fiber optic or night sight of my choice but not a deal breaker - I'll just paint the dot day glow orange or green.

I’ve had a Girsan in Flat Dark Earth that was a nail driver, and I stupidly got rid of it. I noticed a friend of mine had a brand new Black Girsan in the box never been fired, and too my luck he said he’d sell it too me so I jumped on it, this past weekend. I’ve not shot it yet due too the stinking ammo shortage, but I’ve got that bad boy in my safe and I’m not letting it go like I stupidly did my last one. These are an extremely nice smooth shooting pistols for bout half the price of a Beretta.

The rail matches the 92A1 Beretta or Taurus more than an M9A1. Taurus did a PT92, called the 917C, that had finger grooves in the grip frame front. This Girsan looks to be a mix of Beretta and Taurus features.

I was sad it doesn't have the finger groves on the frames. But, the safety is on the frame like the Taurus PT-99 and it has extended safety, slide and takedown levers, which I absolutely love. The crown on these pistols seem to have been improved. I'll be taking them down to MCarbo in Cearwater to get the triggers improved. After that, I'm adding Crimson Trace grips, adjustable fiber optic sights and a good supply of 20 round magazines. I also love that there is no decocker because I'm trained to carry in Condition One.

@@Mary-xd6sb I stumbled across one of the newer EAA imported ones used a few months ago for the first time and bought it on site. I spent three years handling various 92 variations in civilian firearm sales as well as the M9 being my issued sidearm for a brief period. The Girsan is every bit on par with a Beretta and accepts all the same aftermarket parts that I've added (g conversion, threaded barrel, wilson springs, and grips (with minor fitting)) as well as using the same mags and holsters. The gun also has the advantage of not using any polymer parts like the newer model 92's. The biggest downside is that it's a fixed front sight the same as the M9A1. At the price point the gun is phenomenal and I can't recommend it enough. It needs to be noted that the newer ones imported by EAA seem to be nicer and have better parts compatibility than the ones imported by Zenith in the past.

Same. I have read that most parts will fit from the Beretta 92 than not. Really it's the barrel and locking block that are not going to work. Don't know still about the grips. Going to buy the components for a better trigger pull including the Wilson Combat short trigger and trigger bar kit. First thing though is a G conversion kit that I'm just waiting on in the mail. I'll report the results soon. So far love the Girsan.

  • @chimichanga-wanga

No because the front sight is milled as part of the slide, the back sight you could replace, but the front sight youd have to get milled out to be able to replace it with s aftermarket

Agreed. Also remember that the idea of sights is to aim at targets that you've positively Identified. If you wish, blackout the rears with a sharpie and get pinkie fingernail polish for the entire front sight. It will behave much like a "cave man" red dot. Use a light and identify your targets

If TURKEY can do it Better and Cheaper.... I'm OK with dat.... Only 2 of MY GUNS are not %100 USA!!!! No AUSTRIAN, CROATIAN, Czech or other PARTNERS....

you make a lot of suppositions about quality and differences between the two but have not tested those differences. Beretta has been in business over 500 years and quality is unsurpassed. The lesser expensive Girsan is, in my opinion not worth the difference. As well, the political stance of Turkey is suspect and I won't give them my money. I paid $479 for my Italian made 92FS and it is a fine gun. It is very accurate and was our military side arm. Girsan has its place if you don't have the extra cash, but it will not out last the Beretta. As others have stated, warranty work will NOT be free with Girsan. The few plastic parts on Beretta are in NON-essential areas. If they were metal the cost would be more. The army marksman unit still uses Beretta, not Girsan.

Nice video but missed one important difference- groove inside the rail of 92fs near the hammer area. Yavuz is missing those. Basically Yavuz is copying 92 F slide; which I believe was a problematic slide. On the whole an excellent review. Keep emailing coming.

My m9a1 is way better than both, the only thing I wish it had was a nitride finish. Of course the lower is anodized aluminum on both. Put in a 10 dollar lighter mainspring on the Beretta and the da/sa trigger pull drops down to 8 lbs for the da and 3 lbs for the sa. The m9a1 was made for the marines in the mid 2000s, I think like 2010 or so. Plus those finger groves are horrible.

Better how? The A1 polymer guide rod instead of a steel one? A Beretta 'D' hammer spring retails for about $4, so somebody ripped you off. The Girsan has a more rugged barrel lock block, so it'll probably outlast your 'better' gun. The Regard uses 18 round magazines - isn't the M9A1 a 15 shot? Yeah, better....
