My second favorite J-Rock band, behind Band-Maid, of course. I would highly recommend Runners High from the same album, although there is no YT video. I like it just as much or better than Voltage. A lot of people say Nagisa is a better drummer, because she doesn't overpower Serina and Asaka, but I believe Serina and especially Asaka have actually raised their level. Asaka has really improved her live vocals and her guitar work, including adding some guitar solos as well. I still really enjoy Trident, and Nagisa is a great drummer, but I still love listening to Akane and Junna.

I recently watched an online live performance with Junna, it was for bassist ichinose's (Gasshan's) birthday concert, and she actually did really well in not overpowering the other players on that one. She played in all 3 sets (2 different bands and Ichinose's solo stuff) and I was actually pleasantly surprised how she was able to still do a great job as a drummer without stealing the show and she played with some other good musicians like Ichinose herself and guitarist Yashiro (who performed live with Mary's Blood). So I would say she has grown and learned from her stint with Trident and that is all you can hope for. So while I also think Nagisa is a better fit with Trident, because she doesn't pull all attention to her, what I saw from Junna during that concert and the fact that she has performed (is going to perform?) with Marty Friedman makes me think she has become a better teamplayer. I love watching Junna go off on the drums, but I can see why people prefer Nagisa for Trident.

Greetings from Puerto Rico! 🇵🇷❣️Common people, Junna can be the mother of a new style/genre of these type of music! With drums being the protagonist instead of the guitars as always! And don't get me wrong because guitars attracted me to listen to this type of music and I love them! But new things are always good to music to keep expanding music genres and not being stuck with the same. I love music because of its diversity and I like and appreciate the different styles/genres of music from classical to jazz to pop to dubstep and to the different kinds of rock and roll, (metal, punk, symphonic metal, ska, etc...), and all the types of music that I even didn't know their names! That's the beauty of music! What I'm trying to say is that if a musician is that/too good it doesn't had to hold back her/his talent to fit on a band or group because then music would not keep evolving! Anyways that's my opinion, and I think it's a matter of taste and I'm just a fan of music not an expert, I'm not even a musician just a music lover! Sorry for my English, Spanish is my first language!

Dude, I've enjoyed all your deep analysis videos enormously, as old school guitar/bass/keyboards player since 70's to mid 80's. But I've not yet found if you've analyzed The Heana Cat, Japanese gothic romantic artist/band. You could choose any of her/their videos and you wouldn't be disappointed, unique voice and melodies. Cheers, Pekka from Finland.

@@ChrisPage68 Someone who explains what they like or prefer can never be wrong. It is a personal opinion/preference. I enjoy their newer stuff (especially Spoopy), but they are using a little too much electronica/synth for my personal taste, for some reason it doesn't bother me on Spoopy and I'm not sure why. The drum sound on their full album is also not really my thing (it sounds very manufactured), but that might be because of them being independent and a lack of funds for better samples (for her triggers), so that's ok. The thing that bothers me the most on their new song that dropped today (I just watched it, so it's fresh in my mind) is that Asaka's vocals sound like a synth/robot for the majority of the song. It's like they don't trust her to do a great job on her own. You can hardly hear her real voice through all the overproduction. It's ok on the lower notes (they didn't double up on those), but it is really bad on high notes. I understand that some people love that sound and it's not only Trident who does this but it's almost all Japanese bands that have released new albums especially this year, but I really dislike it and it makes me like those songs less. I know she can sing, I have heard it before, please let her sing without putting that crap on top of it. This goes for Japanese bands in general. Even Glim Spanky put crap on Remi's vocals on their last album to some extend and she is a top-tier vocalist who sounds the same live as she does on a record. Please let your vocalist sing and trust them. It's ok if they make tiny mistakes, it makes the song sound human. Stop flattening every little mistake to the point that the music sounds like electronic music and it loses all soul. And while I love Band-Maid and they are relatively tame with this stuff, they are doing it as well and I wish they didn't. I stopped listening to popular music 20 years ago to avoid this crap, but apparently some rock and metal has gone the same way nowadays. I guess I have to go back to the harsher metal styles to avoind it. I love plenty of electronic music, but if I want to listen to that, there are plenty of better options and if I want guitar based music I want to hear the passion and soul of the members. Anyway, I have pre-ordered their recently announced EP even though I am not really feeling most of what I have heard of it with the exception of Spoopy (which I really like). I also just received 2 of their re-recording EP's of their old songs. I unfortunately can't seem to get the old ones anymore to compare (understandable), but I am sure to give them an honest chance to see if they grow on me more. I already like them, but don't love them.

This is my second favorite Junna clip (the live drum-cam version of this song is #1), and also my favorite TRiDENT song. I suppose I am the outcast that thinks this band was better WITH Junna. Not saying Nagisa isn't bad-ass in her own right, because she definitely is...but the energy just isn't the same. Of course I am jaded because I am a drummer myself.

She doesn't play for them anymore as she left recently and is doing freelance work now. She actually will be filling in for Marty's Friedman's band in Japan for a little while. JUNNA was really to good for this band & frankly has bigger aspirations. Anyways be sure to check out her most recent cover of Judist Priest Painkillier!! Best drum cover of Judas Priest i've ever seen hands down. She also did a cover of DragonForce's Through The Fire and Flames. 🙀 🔥🥁🔥✌️

believe it or not, but Trident only got better since that time. Asaka (vocals/guitar) and Serina (bass) have improved their already fine skills and Nagisa, who replaced Junna on drums, is a beast to be reconed with. Also they really managed to step up their game as a full band. Check out their song "Spoopy" for example and you'll see what I mean.

About better or worse with or without Junna: Haruna does similar crazy drum patterns (I was just watching when destinies align for the thousandth time) but the rest of the band , especially M&M have a technical level that matches the level of the insane drumming. For me Junna was too good for Trident and wanted a drummer that plays one note instead of 3 or 4 Junna plays under a relentless double base. Junna needs an Unleash the Archers style of band to play balls to the wall drumming

Hey Wave. Can you please explain drum triggers (in a future video) and who uses them? YOYOKA doesn't like when people use them, preferring a more natural method, and I would like to understand exactly what they are and when they are being used. I would specifically like to know about JUNNA and Akane. I think they are both awesome drummers (and I know they are), regardless of whether they use them or not. I understand it's just a tool like many others in the music industry. If you notice, she never really talks about JUNNA or Akane. I would just like to under this better. Thanks!

No, I liked Junna in Trident (she is the reason why I remembered their name when I started to get into more Japanese bands), but I can see why people say Nagisa is a better fit because she doesn't overpower the rest of the band. I am actually not sure if Junna would still perform the same way she did back then if she was still playing in Trident at the moment, but we will never know for sure. I love Junna's solo drums on her channel love her enthousiasm, the faces the makes and all the flair she brings to the table, but that doesn't always translate perfectly in a band-setting. I still think she is a great drummer though, that said, Nagisa is also very good and while she isn't as over the top as Junna can be, I personally wouldn't call her drumming boring, she is still an energetic drummer just a little less so than Junna. But I actually think the split of Trident and Junna was a positive thing for both parties. Trident found a great replacement drummer that is still good and able to do more than her part in a 3-piece band and the other members have without a doubt become better and Junna has gotten more exposure with her solo youtube channel and I have a feeling she learned a lot from the experience so I think she is now able to play both with a lot of flair and energy and able to play together with a band without going over the top.
