Taeyeon was closer to Jong than Key before. She’s also close to Minho.

Fun fact: Jessi (not Jessica) and Tiffany actually knew each other before SNSD even debuted. They interacted on social media and Jessi was making fun of Tiffany for training to debut in a group that had a codename of "Supergirl" at the time. Jessi thought Tiffany deserved better. Debuting in SM wasn't a guaranteed path for success back then, not for girl groups at least. If you read some forums at the time, many people expected SNSD to fail in a big way. Taeyeon and Tiffany also knew each other before being put in one group. They shared a room as trainees and got super close. That's why Tiffany is saying "Taengoo was my wife" in one of those clips. They kept living in the dorms even after most members moved out to live separately, so they were pretty much joined at the hip for 10-12 years. So when you see Taeyeon dropping an f-bomb or some particularly American sounding slag, you know who's responsible for that.

The award you asked about was actually the first ever KZread Music Awards. SNSD were against Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, One Direction and the like for main Video of the Year category. The criteria was fan voting on Twitter. Kpop community was very small at the time, kpop idols didn't have access to US tv or radio (that's why those TV hosts were shocked by audience participation, they never heard a fanchant before) but the fandoms came together and got something like 3mln votes against 200-300 thousand the closest competitors got. It was pretty much the first time western fandoms faced kpop ones and it took them completely out guard. The reaction was major xenophobia, a perfectly American Tiffany who recieved the award was told to go back to China and so on. Was particularly funny seeing it from the fans of JB and 1D. Combined with SNSD's glorious return to Dream Concert 5 years after being bullied on their first appearance at it, and completely owning that stadium (the clip where the audience was louder than the girls), 2013 was really a year to be alive for Sones.

All the members of Girls' Generation succeeded, but Taeyeon is especially called the best girl group idol of all time. She has received tremendous attention for her quiet and introverted personality, beautiful appearance and perfect vocals since her debut. The 34-year-old, who has been in her 16th year since her debut, has now topped the Korean song chart for two months in February-March 2022. There is a reason why SNSD is mooted as the greatest girl group to ever appear in the history kpop because their ability to come up with bangers again and again even after all these years is uncannily consistent. Their diversity across just their title tracks alone is astounding. Kpop is really lucky to have SNSD to be pushing vocal delivery and music experimentation boundaries,This Super Girl Group has 4 award-winning actresses, 3 musical actresses, successful and award-winning Soloists, Mentors, Radio Hosts, and Businesswomen. Imagine them in one group. That's how powerful and impactful the group and individually are. At the part where you asked who are these - it's basically a tradition at this point that girl groups from generations cover the song as a whole on year end stages. That was for 3rd generation girl groups which included IOI TWICE Red Velvet and GFriend.

Not wishing to sound like I am criticizing, but SNSD has 2 main vocals, 3 lead vocals, and 4 sub vocals. 😊

I discovered them around the time Taeyeon released her album titled INVU, and only really got into them close to their 15th anniversary. They are such an iconic and influential group so it makes me happy to see others discover them. ❤

Idk if anyone said this already, but if not the award show you wondered about at 7:38 is the KZread Awards! Tiffany's speech birthed the meme we SONE's know as "KZread is my best friend" 😆

i can't wait for part 2! i wonder who'll be your bias after watching the entire guide. my first soshi bias back in 2010 was Tiffany, but after following their activities, i fell in love with Taeyeon a little bit more than the other members. :D

I watched your guide's reaction multiple times, and what I liked about it is that you seemed to really have had a good laugh.🤣 The Girls' Generation members are known to be unfiltered, straightforward, savage, make a lot of mistakes, tease one another and sometimes even fight each other, which makes them very human (at least in my opinion). They don't project a "perfect girl group", but instead a complete package group. Each one of the 9 members brings something to make SNSD a successful group. It is just too bad that happened to Jessica, which caused a divided fandom, but let's not talk about it since NO ONE really knows what happened. 😭 It is still one of Kpop's mysteries. Unless SM Entertainment will finally allow the other 8 members to talk, then I'll just support SNSD as an 8 member group and Jessica.
