Eleanor & Park (the book) has a special place in my heart. It reminds me of those fluttery butterflies you feel during your first relationship. This song managed to capture the sweet innocence and nostalgia that the book has. I'm in love with this song.

I stole this book from my teacher junior year and gave it to my boyfriend to read. He took it to Arizona with him where he’d be gone for a week with no way of contacting me. We later discussed it once he got back. When I shipped off to USMC boot camp, I wrote him a letter asking if he could send me a book to read and he sent me Eleanor and Park. The girls in my platoon took turns reading it after lights, and we’d talk about it together. It was the one thing we’d look forward to, since boot camp was you know, depressing lol. Thank you for this, I didn’t realize how much I needed it.

Ive had this on repeat for weeks now. If i could pick one song to listen to forever, it would be this one.

11 months ago she asked me to be her girlfriend. This song reminded me so much of her. I tethered this song to her and listened to it for hours on end just waiting for a single reply from her, sometimes on days. I loved her so, so much and gave her everything in my capabilities. I loved everything about her. Our dynamic, her voice, her energy, the way she came into my life. I used to hate hearing this song sometimes because it reminded me of her. It still does. But it’s okay. Because when I listen to this song now, I’m not hurt anymore. I’m at peace, and I know things will eventually be okay and I’ll find someone who won’t treat me like she did, who will love me every ounce of not more back. I used to hate this song so much, but I don’t. I can’t anymore. But I know that things will be okay and all I can do now is become a much better version of myself and take care of myself after all those months of neglect. Things will be okay

I remember I read it a little bit more than 2 years ago. The girl who was back then my best friend had lent it to me right after our graduation, just before we started dating... And just like in the book, we were each other's first relationship, each other's first love. Now we don't talk anymore, though we are in good terms; plus she's studying abroad. Still, in one way or the other, she's still present in my daily thoughts. Things can change so so quickly sometimes. Everything happens in a blink of an eye. And I know nobody asked for this but I just felt like sharing.
