Statistically, most lottery winners are broke again within 10 years or less. I would hire a financial advisor, a therapist, and seriously consider changing my name if I won hundreds of millions of dollars. Why do people assume becoming rich overnight will automatically bring peace of mind? The people who've actually experienced say it is the opposite!

I can't stand Tamera's silence on racism!!! I know people berate her because she has a white husband or they act like she can't speak about it because she's mixed but if you know you're black, you know you have the right to speak about what affects black people. What bothers me and I think many others is the fact that people criticize her about motherhood all the time but that never stops her from constantly speaking about it. She always sees and addresses issues from the perspective of a woman who's a mother, why can't she do the same with regards to race. How can you watch your people being victimized and not address it?!?! It doesn't matter if you father or your husband is white, absolutely nothing is wrong with that, what's wrong is not defending injustice when you see it or hear it, especially when you have the kind of platform she has.

Y’all saying y’all disagree with Adrienne but no one is saying why. I think she brings up a good point. First off social media will be mad at any and everything so let’s start there. But should black ppl have a problem with other people who are not famous and not making money off of a hairstyle rocking a traditional black hair style? Idk. I for one think they be looking a mess with locs or braids bc their hair isn’t meant for it and doesn’t take it well. But one could say black hair isn’t meant to be beat into submission with perms and flat irons and our hair is being damaged by bad weaves and wigs and it’s snatching our edges out. And we talk about white ppl wearing our hairstyles but what would we do if the Chinese, Malaysian, or Brazilian people were like “ok fine then give us our hair back.” What would we do then? I’m not saying these are my thoughts but I think they are valid and need to be talked about. Black ppl are very sensitive about hair culture and we have every right to be. We have had so many culture vultures in our community taking and taking and not giving anything back or adding anything to the culture. So we are a little sensitive.

Hi, I totally understand your sentiments and agree with some of it but here's a nuance I think your comment misses: Black people (women) HAD to straighten their hairs, wear straight wigs or weaves to get accepted in the corporate world and conform to societal standards of beauty. You cannot just say to black people that they should abandon overnight all the indoctrination of what beautiful hair looks like or what acceptable corporate hair looks like. That choice infrastructure wasn't afforded to black people from the start. People of other races now can choose to make hairstyles that are culturally identical to what black people wear and get admired for it. Black people did not (and in some places still do not) have this luxury. People from other races can choose to wear hairstyles that are predominantly natural to black people, but black people almost did not have that choice when they (we) were indoctrinated into thinking and seeing straight hair, weaves and wigs as beautiful and acceptable in the corporate environment. Loni says this when she says a lot of places would not hire black people in afros. Amanda Seales says this in an interview after she left the real about how the producers sometimes told her her hairstyles were "not corporate enough" (basically too black) for daytime TV. Heck, there are several news cases of black people being sent home from school for wearing afros. Chloe x Halle talked about how they had to buy wigs when they were younger because they were not getting picked for roles when they had their locs.

This hair thing and culture appropriation seems a bit of a stretch for me. I’m really trying to objectively understand (and I’m black) but i cannot. Blacks wears blond hair, straight hair everyday why hasn’t that ever been a problem? One thing I understand is that its not about the hair it’s because it’s the Kardashians.

It hasn't been a problem because that is societies standards. When a black woman such as yourself wears an afro what will people say? Its nappy, ghetto, you didn't have money to get your hair done. But Kim k does it and its edgy, Trendy...do you get it? Black people HAVE to straighten hair because otherwise we'd get turned down from jobs publicly scrutinized by other races and even our own brainwashed people. Hate when people ADRIENNE uses the straight hair argument when its literally a societal standard.

@@fizzybizzy3790 That goes to my point, SOME black women may use an excuse that's its a "protective style" only because they don't want to admit that they are abiding by the European standard of beauty, but can you blame them when all of their lives they've been told their natural hair is ugly and unkempt. Theres a lot of layers to this, and for Adrienne to use her sister as a blanket representation of culture appropriation is just not factual in the grand scheme of things.

Realize that you don't receive the whole amount of the 1.5 billion. Two-thirds of it go between state and federal taxes and you lose a lot of it if you take a one time payout you lose a lot more, but you still receive millions, you only receive that starting amount if you take it in the annuity amount over 30 years. If you take a lump sum, you would receive $930 (after losing 1/4 of it for not taking it in installments), then it would be taxed like regular income at 39.6% Federal taxes, right off the bat which takes it down to $697.50 million, with a looming $135.80 million tax bill come April, and you still have to pay state and local taxes, and if it's in an interest bearing account taxes on interest earned. So, you would have $561.70 million before state, local taxes and taxes on the interest. Still, that is a really good haul for the amount you pay for a ticket.

We black women are not trying to be hypocritical. We as black women had to turn to weave, perms and wigs because society will not accept our natural hair. We have always been told that our natural hair is not good enough. That natural hair is messy and unsuitable for some work environments. There are some places that will not hire you if you are wearing natural hair, dreadlocks or braids. They want us conform to society of wearing straight hair because it is considered more beautiful and appropriate. So stop bashing us black women for wearing straight hair because this is what society think is more beautiful.

So…. It is offensive because 1. African Americans have been ostracized and passed over for opportunities based on our hair texture and cultural norms. So it stings when someone of another race rocks something that we have been defending for decades and now it’s considered popular / trendy but we are still fighting to be able to not be judged for said thing. 2. Appropriating … other races capitalizing financially off of something that originated somewhere else.

Speaking from 2020 the real truth and uncut reason black people are so sensitive over culture appropriation is because we have been shamed for so long over our culture and looks we have faced discrimination and oppression still to this day so to see someone that is not black get praised over what we get shamed for hurts and can be very offensive I don’t even like when body builders get that really dark tan because our people face hell over having dark skin and they are winning trophies 🏆 with a skin tone they get to wash off when they are done so yeah that’s why black people don’t like to really see other people do what we do and sometimes become millionaires behind a culture that is not theirs
