Interesting story on how he got is start. He jumped the gate at A&M records and was chased by security trying to give Herb Alpert (artist and music producer) his demo tape. And boom, record deal. That’s how you get’r done.

I hope you'll do more of Gino Vannelli. He made lots of great (and completely unhip) records in the 70s. That guy could sing back then and he still has the same voice 50 years later (incredible but true). The song 'People Gotta Move' should be your next stop. His brother Joe was his musical partner and keyboardist.

Where Am I Going is one of my favorites tunes of his, but honestly, I love a lot of his tunes. His brother Joe is the keyboard wizard and he was truly great. Gino started on drums, and they decided, dude, get out here and sing. He was one of the best sounding concerts I've ever seen. I saw him at the old Jacksonville Coliseum. That was a great night, not the least of which my date for the show was one of the best looking women I've ever gone out with. Man, that's an old memory.

Also by GV: 'Mama Coco', 'Black Cars'. Tbh, when I first heard Gino on FM radio at my first f/t job outta h.s. in the mid-70s, as a neophyte guitarist heavily influenced by the British invasion, psychedelia, Hendrix et al, I thought, "I'm soo over," or something like that, i.e. "way of the dinosaur" type-thing. The musical sophistication and breadth of influences, the sonic touches like synth sounds on top of that, it seemed the next wave/paradigm/thang was other than me.

I love your interpretation of Gino's Vannelli's Opus Magnus. It will be the song that takes him to his grave and will live eternally in the minds and hearts of Vannelli fans and rock/jazz aficionados alike. I am both, and have been sense my dad brought the album into the house the year the LP was released. (The music store clerk upon hearing his description of a George Benson tune, misconstrued it for Gino's Vannelli. Thus, that's what he got.) He eventually fell in love with the album, and at 10 years, so did I. I was a precocious, music-loving boy anyway. Storm at Sunnup, Getting High, Love Me Now, and the best song: WHERE AM I GOING...it's ridiculous! Listen and take that journey Gino is noted for taking his listeners on. SUNNUP and WHERE AM I GOING offer the most musical leitmotifs--the recurring melodies that tie Vannelli's musical narratives together. He has many. Just listen for them. Kudos to Joe Vannelli, Mandel, Baker and Graydon. They are the glue to the Vannelli sound and always worth mentioning. Album art: Vannelli's hyper-masculine, sexy driven personae is part of the dynamics of his music. Note the barely clad vixen sitting in the background. Genius! for the zeitgeist of mid-70's, pre-Disco, sexual revolution. Thanks again for hitting all the right points.

I've got all his 70s records (Crazy Life, Powerful People, Storm at Sunup, Pauper in Paradise, Gist of Gemini, Brother to Brother and Nightwalker) but Gist is in my opinion as good as it gets. The War Suite sequence is almost operatic, just amazing...

You might like "I'm in Love" also jazz, with Gregory Hines tap dancing for part of the drum break.

Love Gino vannelli's music he can compose music just about anything from loved to death. A lot by science was about death and surrendering. The man can sing and compose just about anything and making it meaningful

What an under-rated genius this man AND his brother Joe are.

Love this reaction video; you’ve probably checked it out already but even Tyler the creator digs ‘Love is a Night’ from this album… it’s absolutely unbelievable.. Joe Vannelli the most underrated keys/synth player of the universe! Top channel dude 😎💥

I have very few CDs in my car and Gino is one of 'em. I listen to his many musical master pieces regularly. To this day, nothing has come closed to his genius. And he's still touring and still have his amazing voice. Highly recommended 👌👍

Not by a long shot. Been following his career since he appeared in the Miami Jai ALai Fronton in the mid 70s. What a voice!

Thank you Chod. Feel like the world needs Gino right about now. Please fall into his stuff. This song - not enough vocals. Saw him live in New Orleans in 1975 and was blown away. His brother does the musical arrangements.

For me this song is a situation between a couple where one is trying to leave the other. It is the same argument but the.other gets hysterical (trumpet) until the discssion is over. Finally the argument is understood and the storm passed. Excuse my english I'm from Mexico.
