I’d just like to say….don’t be so specific with dates, use a 10 year span, people lied for what ever reason usually because a wife was 14-16 years old …they would not give the proper date, especially if the man was older.

Way to go Nellie, I hope she found true love. But back to the positive, if he had not abandoned her, she would have been living with and subject to a man who hated her and would have cheated on her. While I am sure she suffered financially, that would have been better than baring that man 6 more kids.

Names are real weather they are "made up" or they existed before by being used by someone else. Names also don't always follow spelling norms or pronunciation norms. Examples, "Saoise" Ronan. Pronounced Sursia like inertia. "Siobhan" McKenna, pronounced Shevaun. Ralph Fiennes, pronounced Reif Fynze. So if her parents spelled Jennifer, Ginnifer it is a real mane, and as all names are, made up by someone, even if very long ago.

Not made up. Her real name is Jennifer. Many performers will change their names to make it more memorable. She did so by changing the spelling.

@@nursetazzi sometimes it’s to stand out or be more ethnically ambiguous, but a lot of the time it’s because someone in the Union has the same or similar name and they are urged to change it. Not everyone does it though; there are two actresses named Vanessa Williams. It’s cool that she only change the first two letters of her name so it would be pronounced the same and it gives it alliteration.
