This is completely speculative but it seems to me that both survived abuse and Pearl has trust issues. So Ginger bringing up a moment in time that tied to Pearl’s ultimate vulnerability made Pearl lose trust in Ginger. I’ve had a moment when I betrayed someone’s confidence and I can relate to Ginger. You feel incredibly guilty and can’t do anything to repair that trust when all you want to do is get back to that level of intimacy.

I can't get over how good this entire interview has been. ❤️

Joey Perez it really is. Rupaul knew Pearl had personal problems in her past, and it was very obvious Pearl wanted to keep it private, but still she confronted her with that fucking childhood photo

There's been many worse seasons than season 7 since, but the way the show treated Pearl is the single biggest low-point in the show's history (that we've seen anyway). Even in the final edit, it's still so obvious that something happened to Pearl and Pearl clearly didn't want to go there and producers didn't give a single shit and pushed and pushed (either via Ru flat out interrogating her or adding a segment where you literally talk to your young self). It's emotional porn TV at its most disgusting.

I completely agree that contestants shouldn't be forced to open up if they aren't comfortable, but I can tell you how incredibly much it means to me, my husband and everyone I know to hear the stories told by these ladies. I cry in every episode because it breaks my heart, opens up my mind and I truly feel it makes an invaluable impact on everyone who hears it. That's what makes Rupaul's Drag Race such an important show in society today: Not the pageantry and the cat fights, but the real life experiences, the determination to succeed and to be who you are.

the pearl moment was really touching and lovely.

Well that was intense as fuck! Where did that pearl moment come from? I feel like there's wayyyy more going on there than what has been spoke about. I guess that's their personal t. Props to Ging for being so apologetic tbh

There's a video where queens share their first times and in it Ginger basically shares the story of how she was abused by an older man when she was very young, knowing that I think it's kinda clear why she relates to her, it's heartbreaking

Have always liked Ginger but didn't really know much beyond the show but WOW! The main episode & Look at Huh! are the best I've seen on Hey Qween! Truly the most open, honest & vulnerable guest and I think Johnny & Lady Red did an impeccable job of catching the tone and letting Ginger shine & really talk (we all know Johnny loves to interrupt sometimes, no shade). Love me some Ginger now!

I'm so glad Ginger's segments on Hey Qween have been so well received. Good Ol' Minj Ging is so underrated, and I don't entirely understand why. On her season, Ginger was an exceptional contestant with a wide range of talents, and she brought the drama while still remaining likable. If you don't like a queen who can serve sand art realness with her eye look, then I don't know what to tell you.

This was the best fucking Hey Queen! in the history of Hey Qween!

I love Ginger, haven't always, but in the last couple of years I've grown to really really like her, but this whole Hey Qween/Look at Huh has brought me over the edge and she's so amazing and honest, i simply adore her.

More than any previous episode of Hey Qween, the interviewing skills and comfort that Jonny and Lady Red have helped to show the realness of the people who are the performers.

I'm shooketh. I did not expect this to get emotional. aww the feels, hope her and pearl can reconnect :(

Wow. After knowing Ginger's story where she basically got taken advantage of by an older man & the same thing happened to Pearl & how much love, respect, & sorrow she feels for her because of who she is & how she operates is beautiful & what life & learning is all about. So beautiful.

I love this part of the interview. The emotion, when detailing how Pearl has been affected by so much when young, not understanding how it affects you as you grow up. The realization of what had happened during the show, just all of it. It takes a good person to come back around and try to or actually fix things. One more reason to love you Ginj’.
