In today's tutorial I'll be demonstrating how to create a pressed leather effect with GIMP. You'll be able to take a logo, text, or any other object, and impress it into leather.
Leather texture and logo can be downloaded here: logosbynick.com/gimp-pressed-...
Intro song: "In Da Mood" by Combustibles, used with written permission

Thanks, Nick! This really helped! How do you impress regular pics? I noticed that the logo was black, and was just curious how to make regular pics black to be able to impress them. Thanks, again!

Hello, Nice effect .
Great
Quick question Nick (or anyone), my background and foreground colour blocks have a tiny triangle of a different colour in the corner... but I don't know what I've done or how to fix it, any idea? ...it's messing up use of colours!
Would you have a tutorial to convert a picture/text to stencil?
Thank you!! I need to do this but on gold, silver, diamonds colours, it is possible?
Hey Nick, is there a way to export pictures in full resolution for instagram on inkscape or gimp? can u show us?
Excellent tutorial but can you do one on how to create that amazing leather texture ?
There's only few people on KZread who means serious business!
hey Nick! I wanna ask you, are the photos you put in the description have copyright? hope u answer soon!
So I downloaded the latest version of gimp onto my mac. However, I do not lave the legacy drop shadow. Is there something I need to set up?
Nick Can you add colour, as my logo was coloured. Can you deepen the the shadow
kind of a weird request. Could you show how to make Ultra Instinct Goku Aura with either Gimp or Inkscape. :D
I asked this before, but I didn't see a response. How to you change the program settings to the dark motif you are using. I've looked for such a choice but haven't found it yet.

Think that’s just the default scheme for gimp 2.10, you need the latest version

Go to edit -> preferences and there is an option to change icon themes and UI color variations

It's the default theme of the latest version of GIMP. Sounds like you may be using an older version.

OOPS. My apologies. My question has to do with Inkscape, not GIMP. I do have the latest versions of both programs, and I do see GIMP in the dark motif. I've seen in your Inkscape tutorials where you have a dark motif for that program, and that is what I'd like to use for my Inkscape program as well.
Is there any theory behind these technics? How it possible to discover these ways to do the correct actions? thanks

Practice. I learn a lot just by playing around with settings.

@@lakeireland Agreed. Just have to learn how things work and over time you'll start finding uses for them.
So many layers that It feels as dense as a box of rocks
1:42 why we use that tool instead of scaling tool (shift+s) ?
SECOND TO LAST!
I hate long videos thank you!
Can this effect use other
Well, I have Inkscape (0.72.5), GIMP (forgot which version), and CorelDraw (X8) (well you didn't do any coreldraw videos)
👍🏽👍🏽
Nick, your logo looks a lot like the Glasdon logo. I think you might want to update it, for the sake of being unique. Big companies can often absolutely crucify smaller companies in court for copyright infringement and I really don't want to see you come to harm. Brilliant videos, as always! :) Edit: I just realised that Glasdon may have actually copied the logo from you. If this is the case, I apologise, and it looks like you could sue Glasdon.

Thanks for the heads up. I just looked them up. Their logo is similar, but it's definitely different from mine. Regardless, we're in different industries so they wouldn't have very much luck trying to sue me.
