    Hello Nick! Love your videos. I am using GIMP 2.10.10 and they seemed to have changed how Blur works. They now have three separate Motion blur selections instead of the one but that is easy enough to manage. However, when you click on Zoom Motion Blur it doesn't seem to be in pixels, so X:640 Y:360 don't seem to be possible. Also blur factors is what it says now instead of blur parameters so the length isn't accurate. I am really new to all of this and any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

    If I understand the new zoom blur correctly, the automated numbers of 0,500 for x and y place the start of the burst exactly in the middle of the page. So instead of using pixels, it seems to be like a percentage with 0,500 being the same as 50% aka the center of the page, so by leaving it at those start values you get the same effect as Nick is getting when he enters the pixels. I hope it helps

    @steefbuis You gotta mess with the "blurring factor" on the Zoom Motion Blur filter. The motion blur filter is still the same, they just separated its three modes: circular, linear, and circular (now radial, same meaning) into three different filters rather than modes of one filter. The guy in the video has it on zoom mode, so you can just use zoom motion blur on 2.10. As I said before, you gotta mess with "blurring factor" while using Zoom Motion Blur to get something similar to this result; that's all you need!

    How can you zoom and un-zoom without a mouse wheel? In Paint.net, it was control + and control -. Also, if you also know Paint.net, I would recommend someone make a tutorial on how to use Gimp for Paint.net users. A lot of the beginner Gimp tutorials explain stuff like layers that I know from Paint.net or people know from Photoshop. It would be nice if someone explained how to do it in Gimp without explaining stuff like that that many people already know.

    is gimp better than inkscape?

  • @Ruisu101

    @Ruisu101

    5 жыл бұрын

    For this project, yes. In general, neither bests the other. GIMP is manipulation software primarily meant to serve as a freeware alternative to Photoshop, whereas Inkscape is primarily vector creation/manipulation software akin to Serif Drawplus, for example. A true vector image is a layered image that doesn't lose quality regardless of its scaling. In an application like Inkscape, a vector may be resized, tweaked and/or exported to virtually any dimensions specified. An image created or manipulated in GIMP, once exported, can be resized, but it will lose quality depending on the resizing procedure; i.e, it'll look compressed if it's shrunk, and blurred and pixelated if it's grown. Some pieces can be created in either GIMP or Inkscape, but the steps taken to the end point of each instance will determine which application is better suited to the job. That said, you wouldn't want to try and tweak a true vector image in GIMP, and you wouldn't want to paint a picture from scratch (with a graphics tablet, for example) in Inkscape. If you wanted to make minor edits to a photograph, you'd use GIMP, if you wanted to make a resizable but dimension-specific logo, you'd choose Inkscape.
