Create A Dual Lighting Effect with GIMP
In this tutorial I’ll be demonstrating how to use GIMP to create a dual lighting effect where it appears as if the subject has colored lights shining on them. The colors I’ll be using in this demonstration are pink and blue.
The colors used...
Pink: HEX #ff5bba
Blue: HEX #039be5

You give me hope, by looking at the amazing things you can do with this free software, knowing that I don't have to spend lots of money on others to be a designer
So simple and yet so professionally made.
You sir have created a 10 hour Synthwave screen cap.
Nick, you're an absolute treasure for us self-taught GIMP users. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us! As with the other tutorials, this one was very useful.

I love your tutorials! It's thanks to you that i even learned how to properly use GIMP. I even still have my very first picture i made as my emblem, although I've gotten much better since then. Not sure if i said it before but just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to make these videos. It really helps me improve and learn new things.
Just wanted to take the time to say thank you! I was able to learn Gimp so fast with your unique videos!

This was a nugget, thank you! I never used that 'New from Visible' before which is super nifty. Also, I've been using Curves to saturate/contrast but never touched the RGB. I'm gonna play with that now!
You're amazing. Your channel is amazing. And your work and content is amazing...Okay, I'll start watching this video now. Thank you. Edit: Another easy, thorough, and to the point video tutorial on using GIMP....TY!
Interesting effect, Nick. Never saw something like this but it's really nice.
Man that was amazing. so short and yet I always forget to try layer blends it simplified this entire project and New from Visible is going to save me an insane amount of layer duplication in the future.
Man, you just made my day ! C'est une vraie Tuerie !!! Thanks for that !!!!
Nice job Nick, amazing!!!
I don’t use Gimp or Inkscape, I’m an Affinity user, but I still love watching these videos.

Legendary, thansk bro your vidios help me as well, simply and clear i Made it!!!
Why you dont make a pink-blue gradient and add overlay? It's shorter way
awesome....
Nice!
Great video 👍
Perfect thx alot
This is so nice..
This looks awsome, good tutorial. I was wondering if there is a way to add a distressed look to the background or whole image so that it would blend better on a T Shirt design rather than a hard Outline, Thank you
much simpler if you create new layer above b/w image filled with gradient from pink to blue, then make layer blending to overlay, or maybe LCH/HSV-color/hue. if you really need to, you can customize the gradient, or even, create multiple gradient on that layer using blending mode in gradient tool. after that you can still use curves or level to adjust final image, and if you really want to, you can target the curve for specific channel
Oh man thanks so much,
Why do you use so few frequently the non destructive approximation? As always great effect!
Nice
nice
great
If only you could apply filters like Adjust Color Curves non-destructively (like adjustment layers in Photoshop)... Having that feature would make GIMP a superior replacement of Photoshop. Maybe someday...

Soon... I think it would be much quicker if more people donated. If Adobe users knew that they could get for free what they get by paying an overpriced monthly subscription just by donating, GIMP would be as good or even better than Photoshop by now.
Excellent Nick, but can this effect be created in Inkscape?
I have a dumb question but every time when I cut something out and paste it on another picture, the shape automatically resets to a rectangle even though I want the cut out piece to be a circle
Did you know you can fill the canvas/selection with your foreground/background color by clicking and dragging from the foreground/background color widget to the canvas? So you click the foreground color you will bring up the color selector, but if you click and hold the foreground color you will select that color and you can drag it to the canvas to auto-fill with that color. For me, this trick I never need to use the paint bucket tool and can get right back to using whatever tool I was already using.

You can also do this with the other toolbox widgets except for Gradients. Though I just created an issue for this gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/issues/5284

inaccurate and the use of this specific photo is the only thing that makes this work. Light would bounce a lot more dynamically than this
