Create A Dual Lighting Effect with GIMP

In this tutorial I’ll be demonstrating how to use GIMP to create a dual lighting effect where it appears as if the subject has colored lights shining on them. The colors I’ll be using in this demonstration are pink and blue.
The colors used...
Pink: HEX #ff5bba
Blue: HEX #039be5

    This looks awsome, good tutorial. I was wondering if there is a way to add a distressed look to the background or whole image so that it would blend better on a T Shirt design rather than a hard Outline, Thank you

  • @RioSanjayaWira
    @RioSanjayaWira4 жыл бұрын

    much simpler if you create new layer above b/w image filled with gradient from pink to blue, then make layer blending to overlay, or maybe LCH/HSV-color/hue. if you really need to, you can customize the gradient, or even, create multiple gradient on that layer using blending mode in gradient tool. after that you can still use curves or level to adjust final image, and if you really want to, you can target the curve for specific channel

    If only you could apply filters like Adjust Color Curves non-destructively (like adjustment layers in Photoshop)... Having that feature would make GIMP a superior replacement of Photoshop. Maybe someday...

    Soon... I think it would be much quicker if more people donated. If Adobe users knew that they could get for free what they get by paying an overpriced monthly subscription just by donating, GIMP would be as good or even better than Photoshop by now.

    Did you know you can fill the canvas/selection with your foreground/background color by clicking and dragging from the foreground/background color widget to the canvas? So you click the foreground color you will bring up the color selector, but if you click and hold the foreground color you will select that color and you can drag it to the canvas to auto-fill with that color. For me, this trick I never need to use the paint bucket tool and can get right back to using whatever tool I was already using.
