I know we're reaching summer time but I didn't expect this much heat to hit my screen, these tips are definitely 🔥🔥🔥
Thank You For Your Awesome Videos!
Converting selections to paths (and vice versa) is something I've been using a lot. I did learn a few things - most of all, I think using the TAB key to hide/show the menus comes in handy. Thanks!
WAAAIITTT.. PATHS CAN BE EXPORTED NOW?!?!? I was JUST asking myself the other day if this was possible. This is going to help me A LOT now that I been transitioning to Inkscape, but I prefer GIMP's pen tool. Thank you so much!

@@LogosByNick Insane! wowow. This just helped me A LOT. I been meaning to start converting some logos over to vector format. My work flow is about to be ridiculous. Thank you so much for this. I will be doing GIMP and Inkscape videos in the future thanks to your inspiration.
Thank you so much for making life so much easier so often!
Thank you Nick for a very informative tutorial, I've learned much about how to use Gimp thanks to your tutorials.
I've been using Gimp and Inkscape since 2009. For a period of time, I used Photoshop CS 6 (which I still have) but always returned to Gimp, partly because it is less of a strain on my computer and it just seems more intuitive for me. When Adobe chose the subscription route for all future editions an updates I was pretty much out for good. Now I have purchased the Affinity products (Designer, Photo, and soon Publisher) but I keep defaulting to what I know and am fast at working in. Since I've spent the money I guess I will eventually learn them, Lol! I still believe that Gimp and Inkscape can handle 90% of what any graphic artist needs to do. Add MS Publisher and I can get just about any graphics work done; the kicker, however, is the file-sharing issue which is one of the reasons I bought the Affinity products. I am still hoping that the Affinity Suite of products will somehow be adopted as an equal "professional grade" platform for others in the industry to accept and exchange files in. Adobe's grip on the market is being challenged by other well thought out and executed software which is a good thing. When your the only game in town you can charge outrageously high prices and walk all over your user base with near impunity. Adobe saw that new innovations to PS and AI were running out so they switched to the subscription model, which seemed to make sense when they did so, but now they are seemingly running some kind of new users and "comeback" specials constantly. I wouldn't be surprised to see the price rollback on the Adobe cloud-based apps. Especially if Serif offers the ability to both save AND open (and work in) PS and AI files.

Subscription based models for the essential tools are stupid so its about time we move out of adobe file format and "industry standard".
I'm simply amazed with this tips. Thanks for sharing such a good content!
Even the thumbnails are attractive. You definitely put in efforts as a content creator.
Great short cuts right here 👌🏽
Thank you Nick. Not a pro or designer but your tutorials are really helpful.
These are all very good. Thank you Nick!

6. Selections To Path is one of the most useful to me and could be used for mask/crop results too
Very helpful, thanks
Thanks A LOT!!!
Many thanks👍
Thanks nick you are the best...
Thanks!! great video!!
Awesome videos like always. 👏🏻
Great tips! Thanks.
Thank you for the video, I didn't know about a few and only just now found that I was looking for 'text along the path' in Path context menu but it's in Layers. I don't know how hidden it is but I just love 'Darken only' layer mode. Placed over white background it makes white parts of the layer become invisible. I use it to precisely stitch the pages of a bigger image intended for home printing, in my case they are sewing patterns. Select>Grow is a good tool to add a seam allowance :) I also often use File>Create, both from clipboard and asking GIMP to make a screenshot for me.
Great tips, thanks.
You are amazing. Everyone should learn from you how to make tutorials 👌
Great tips as usual Nick you do a great job mate keep it up please
Thank you so much for this video! 💯💯💯💯💯
Great video, Im still too much of anoob to really use any of this but ill certainly be returning to this video when im a little better at Gimp. Thankyou sir.

EXCELLENT
My favourite new feature is the / hot key that opens a search box for any filter and tool gimp has even the ones added via an plug-in so instead of searching through the drop down menus I can just type the name of the filter I want if I know it's name and immediately find it no need to go through multiple drop downs anymore which is just the best

I'm curious, what would something like that be used for?
Hey there Nick. Hope all is well. Just had to drop by and say that GIMP has made my productive life a whole lot easier since I came in contact with your channel. From the tips to the actual in-depth knowledge I was able to kind of do my thing with way more freedom. Regarding the tips on this video, I was hoping to stretch out by asking you for a deeper tutorial about the last segment, the GIF creation. Near the end there's a short clip on a few lettered logos & names if I'm correct, that makes After Effect kind of useless if one can get his/her head around it. Please do think about it and get back at us, I'm pretty sure a few are too concerned & curious about the matter. Stay safe. Truly Beats Official.
thanks alot
This video should be shared on SNS so everyone will know power of gimp..

The ability of Gimp to view and annotate PDF files is something I only recently learned is possible.
Salute u sir💚💚💚💚💚💚💚✌✌ Gimp
When Using Fuzzy Select tool (magic wand) or Color Select tool and adding to selection by Shift-LMB clicking, it usually produces a mess with marching ants regions, at some point you're no longer sure which parts of image are selected and which are not. There is a more perceivable way to view your selection while using Magic Wand or color select tools - View the Selection editor (Selection>Selection editor) - where white areas is your current selection.
Can you do a tutorial on installing plugins from the registry?
Would you consider making tutorials for Affinity Photo? I don't really like GIMP UI but I love Affinity Photo and your way of explaining things, and I think there is a big audience on KZread that would be interested.
For the First tip, the shortcut to make a selection float is ctrl+shift+L
Love these video's - not tried Gimp yet but you do make it look easy (EXCEPT!) Your curser flits around like an FI car, and with the old memory cells not being what they were I think I'd have to keep pausing - rewinding - pausing - rewinding ............. Just a thought :-)

What is the thing he using with his left hand? @ 5:15 does anybody know?
Is there a way when using the text to path tool... to have the text integrity intact? Like it moves the letters but the shape of the letters dont change... ??? (hope that makes sense)
Hey Nick! Great work as always. A random suggestion: have you ever heard of LBRY? It’s basically a decentralized KZread alternative with blockchain, very easy to duplicate content from KZread, there’s no censorship/demonetisation and from what I’ve heard it pays creators well. It would be nice to check it out!
I didn't know these as I'm pretty new to GIMP. I was curious how similar to Photoshop it is (50% similar or is it higher?) and whether Photoshop tutorials would work fine in GIMP.
As usual fantastic video . I have a question , whenever I transform the size of text it becomes raster and pixilated . What is the solution ?
@AlexAtanasovspeed12
4 жыл бұрын
Try changing the text font size, instead of the resizing tool. If you have already created a text layer and don't know how to edit the text simply select the text tool(from the tool menu) and click on the text. You should be asked if you want to edit or create a new textbox. Click on Edit, then select the whole text and change the font size from the little window.
@LogosByNick
4 жыл бұрын
That's because once you modify a text item it is no longer a text item and now a rasterized series of pixels. Pixels are the environment GIMP works in. As Alex said, a good way to resize text would be to resize the font through the text tool itself.
hi Nick .. How can I easily fill in a text or shape on a transparent background with another pattern in my hand so that the background remains transparent? For example, with a camouflage pattern in my hand as a picture file .. there was an easy way to do this .. when I dragged it, it filled the part of what I dragged directly into the text .. and the transparent background was not affected by it .. but I forgot how it was done. can you help me ? or can you make a video about it please?
nick how do you use the downloaded these template which I have brought from you website?
whoa, gimp really is capable... if i've grown too fond of non-destructive workflows in either Affinity Photo and Photoshop, can i replicate them? it usually involve using adjustment layers which can be changed/adjusted later and smart objects
Could you make a video comparing it to photoshop like you did illustrator vs Inkscape? Thx :)
There's one amazingly useful feature in GIMP. If you click the little "x" in the top right corner, it disappears, and you can then open a browser and download Krita.

hello sir, which software you use in inkscape
nice
please , i want the music you are using in the intro
So technically, rather than struggle with Inkscape placing individual text one by one onto let's say, a ribbon, you could place it all on the path in gimp, convert that to a path. Save it as .svg and import it into Inkscape? Or does that still potentially skew the text incorrectly?
@LogosByNick

Yes, as long as it is a path.

When I put my comic strips on my website, they turn out fine, but when I put my logo, which is letters with pictures in them in the title bar of the website or on twitter, it comes out blurry. If you have a moment, could you take a guess at why that would be.
Well I made a 4k Picture in Gimp that was 12 MB big, some advise to avoid that?
I hope you can help with my problem, I can't export my design with the size I want 5400x4500 300 dpi in inkscape when I change dpi the image size change as well 😣 I hope you can help
@LogosByNick

Changing the DPI will change the size of the export. That's just how DPI works. What size does the final file need to be in terms of pixels?
@wahidovish
4 жыл бұрын
@@LogosByNick the pixels must be 5400x4500 and dpi 300

The guy is already teaching people how to use this softwares for 0$ (the only money he probably makes is through YT adverts, less than he would make off of paid classes). I think it's more than fair for him to have a paid book to sell.
anyone remember gimp-painter? that was a cool thing... while it worked.
How do i flip one layer without flipping the other layer
OMFG GIMP IS FUCKING POWERFUL!!!!
So Much Advanced... Stuff! Yes, I'd like to be able to it ALL, but, "Oh, my poor old brain!"
I wish gimp had the ability to increase the size of the icons representing individual tools. On a laptop 1080p the icons are too small to know what they represent. If they were larger I know they'd take up more screen but toggling them off and on the problem wouldn't exist.

In preferences, under Interface / Icon Theme, there is a slider at the bottom that lets you adjust icon size.
