Yeah but at 15 my mom would said it was too short. Maybe if it was a little longer. I just remember being in the 8th grade . We had one teacher if you wore lipstick she'd. Tell you to wipe it off. No it was not me. She ruled that class no make up, no gum and only certain ladies wore makeup and lipstick. I got it when a older girl who should been in highschool got pregnant. you could not help but to notice. That teacher had a talk with her. So did the principal. That girl never came back. I don't think she finished school. I say her years later. She had more children. The guy who she thought loved her had 2 children with her never married. I don't think I wore make up in highschool just lip gloss. This episode reminded me of that teacher and that girl. 🙂. Please I'm not saying sam outfit was wrong. Just a little too short. Katie was stylish but 19. I'm wondering if they wrote julie character that way. She did change her hairstyle. But it made her look older.🙂. But I was allowed to pick out my clothes at 14. But the school had rules. How did I survive the late 80s and 90s🤔😂. Nj.

Yes they were called mini skirts and parents hated them. Boys loved them. They violated Proper school attire policy such as Skirt had to hit your knee. Smh#the80s

I was 21 yrs old in 85 and that was the style back then. I would wear a skirt like that but a mini skirt not too short like Sam.

It was tough to see Dolph's rapid deterioration over Season 4. He insisted to work until the end and really loved his craft. He was a very good actor who left us too soon, just a few months after this episode was filmed.

Anyways, Nell Carter was never just the maid. She was best friends with the girls deceased mom. The mom asked Nell to raise her daughters after her death.

This was the Chief’s last big storyline. In season 4, he mainly had two, I think…Officer Dwyer and this with Katie moving to her own apartment. He also had a pretty big part in TV or Not TV, but Officer Dwyer and then this one he played bigger parts in.

Nell, Grandpa, Julie, & Sam were so anxious to get away from Carl and in a few more episodes, he died & they all took it quite hard. Makes you think.

I Miss This Show ! Nell Carter Was Perfect In Playing The Housekeeper/Mother Figure in this sitcom It Was A Shame When Dolph Sweet passed away but one of the episodes the cast really remembered him and tried to deal with him not being there They Don't Make Them Like This Anymore It Just Seems Like Tv Is Unemployed!

Nell Carter was the star of the show. I will give you that but the show was never the same when Dolph Sweet died.

Excellent episode just love it.

It's not true Adam Samuel the chief gets into it with Nell from time to time but he shows he cares in so many episodes the second episode he shows it and the one time she left he held the door open and accepted her back like nothing happened

@@adamsamuel8593 Actually in several episodes, the Chief shows he really does care about Nell like in the episode when 1 of his officers says cruel things about Nell's weight right before they had a date. Chief was MAD. There was also the time he was about to practically kill Samantha for screaming at Nell, "How would you like it if someone called you 'n*gger?!" Samantha had to literally run to escape his wrath!

Did Sam just push nell??? Oh heck no. And what's with all the teenage angst and yelling at pops? I could never, all my teeth would have been on the floor. The oldest daughter had her whole flat chest out and Sam only had a mini skirt on with leggings and a sweater....so who was more exposed???

This is gonna sound totally nutso but i watch these classic tv shows so often that i sometimes dream of the characters. Like this one time I had a dream that i was in some houses in the suburbs and Nell Carter was there and we were talking and i don't remember what all was said but at the end of the dream she said to me that i could always talk to her if i needed anything, then i woke up pretty sad knowing that I'd never talk to or even know her....isn't that crazy? Lol...

I'm right there with you. Grandpa, Nell, & Julie in particular made me mad. All Carl said was he wanted to get to know his father better and Grandpa left. What the heck?! Carl told Julie she reminds him of himself and she left. For real? And Carl told Nell that although she's a big help with the girls, he's still the parent and not her. And she got offended & left. I think they were jerks to Carl in this episode & several other episodes (especially Nell). I don't blame him for going out after the family returned home! And then in a few more episodes, they were all depressed & crying because he died. Should've appreciated him more when he was alive!

In a few early episodes, Sam had a few funny moments & lines. But I still don't truly like her because I've seen her say & do some hateful things to Nell. Julie was my favorite until I saw the episode where she wanted to fight Katie for "stealing" a guy from her. I never saw Julie act so crazy before. She lost her mind! Lol.

It was better than the saggy baggy Kurt Cobain look of the 90's. The whole dirty homeless look never made any sense to me.
