He was summer in Australia . He became part of our hot , holidaying , family , xmas-time culture. Most of us were either at the game watching him , waiting for Australia to demolish , or , at home with beers , & miles of chrissy tucker , watching under a much needed chilly air con ! I just LOVED those days , when he helped make Australia THE most feared cricket side in the world . And holy shit , we were . See ya , you bloody legend.

The cricketing world is full of camaraderie. Every test playing nation loved and respected him. We all knew that we were witnessing a true legend of the game. What a player and like Beefy, Richards and a few others; what a charismatic bloke. The true greats have an aura about them and Warne certainly had that aura. RIP.

It still hasn't sunk in for me here in London that Warnie is gone. Ah, it hurts like hell. I've been alive now for 3.5 decades and haven't seen such mourning for any player in the UK press, let alone an Aussi. He truly was bigger than life and we are mourning over this loss as if we lost one of our own. It's so hard to process the emotions of losing someone with the Aura of Warnie, someone who felt invincible and yet so humane when you talk to him. I hope you're having one hell of a party mate wherever you are. You'll be sorely missed not just in Australia but here in the UK, India, West Indies and South Africa as well. Hell, even my American friends heard about you through your exploits in Golf and were shocked. The only silver lining though is that you lived life on your terms and even though it was much too short, you did more in one lifetime than what anyone would do in 10. Everyone dies one day..but not everyone lives. You lived life, king size! Rest in peace, king! 💔💔💔💔💔

watching Warnie weave his magic, was one of the great delights of my childhood, seeing the confused batsmen wondering what happened was an amazing sight to behold. With my favorite delivery that got Strauss behind his legs hitting middle and leg stump, followed by watching on TV Warne tearing the English apart in the Adelaide test match we shouldn't have really won. either as a kid you wanted to emulate Warnie in some way, or as a kid who just loved watching cricket when Warne was at the peak of his powers, there was no better cricketer to watch, even late at night when he was bowling on the other side of the world. RIP in Warnie, you will be missed.

The 'chips and bread rolls' reminded me of the only time I ever saw Warnie off the field. It was around the Pakistan test at the Gabba in '99. Warnie was at a restaurant/bar overlooking the Queen St mall. He had a plate of lasagne and another with a pie and a mountain of chips. Edit: By the by, Warnie smacked 86 in that match.

Thanks. It's terrible and I feel so sad for him and his kids and those who knew and loved him eg His parents, siblings, Simone, Liz Hurley, friends of his, former team mates. For most Australians the shock and saddness would be nothing compared to them. But as you know because it was a shock. I suppose at least he didn't suffer a long illness. I don't know what happens when we die and I hope so much that this isn't it and that he's okay. Whilst his death is awful I'm glad he didn't suffer like many people do (although many don't as well). On the other hand it's more of a shock the way it happened and there was no opportunity for him to say goodbye or for his loved ones to say goodbye to him. I'm sorry to hear about your Dad's death too 😔 Also you said you can't imagine what Aussies are going through. It sounds like you do have a good idea because it sounds like you a fan of his too even if he wasn't bowling for your team. Lots of people around the world thought he was great and he was a light in the world who wasn't perfect let's be honest and made lots of mistakes which sadly meant he never got to be the Australian Captain but he was a lovely guy, an amazing bowler and someone who made life more interesting and enjoyable because of he who he was. He was so likeable and he did broaden the appeal of the game of cricket. There were people who watched the game just to see him bowling. There were lots of kids who who spent hours learning or trying to learn the art of leg spin. Cricket isn't as fast moving as a lot of other games and it can be seen as boring by some. Although plenty of others love it and still would love it even without any spin bowling spin bowling adds something extra to it and more variety. I'm someone who doesn't watch a lot of cricket but I did sometimes watch Shane Warne bowling. When he retired from The Australian Team I was surprised and disappointed that he didn't keep going as long as he could. And I do wish he was still playing although of coarse he would have had to retire years ago as no one can keep play forever. But now all we've got are the memories and videos and audio and photos. The world keeps going and we have to go on without those we've lost such as Warnie and it's sad and it feels unfair and not right. Unfortunately we can't change what's happened. I want to think of something really great to say but I can't think of what to say. Anyway my he rest in peace. He's defined missed already and he always will. It's just so sad. But what can you do? 😥

What a tragic time for cricket...Rod Marsh departing was bad enough...but low and behold the double whammy of losing Shane Warne merely days behind...so sad on both accounts...for the families and fans of cricket world wide. Both true legends of the game albeit very much different eras. Warnie's legendary status among all cricket fans goes without saying...no truer icon of Australia will we ever have...mastered his art and craft...never will we see the likes of him on the field again...and a larrikin that I'm sure we can all relate to...which is what I believe makes him so much more loved by many Australians not even fans of cricket...we could all relate to him...and he just seemed a great human being...sure there were err's in decisions he made...but don't we all?? RIP Warnie...the world of cricket and the world in general will be a much poorer place for your passing...your legacies to cricket and all those that you touched off the ground through charities...the time you gave of yourself to those less fortunate...and just in general for the great bloke you were...you'll be forever remembered for it all...and revered for the man you were!!!! Only 6 moments in my life where you can be asked where were you...'Moon Landing'.....'Who shot kennedy'.....'Princess Diana n Charles wedding' (even though I'm not a royalist)...'Covid national lockdown'....'Ukraine invasion'....'Shane Warne passing'....HONESTLY that's how I feel as a sportsfan.
