    10th March 2024 - I visited here today because I have just heard "Alone Again (Naturally)" after many years, I thought I would go back through Gilbert's 70's repertoire, I was 6 to 10 years old at Gilbert's height of fame and now remember hearing this song over 54 years ago. Thank you Gilbert O'Sullivan your dulcet tones were a joy to hear, even as a child. I will be 60 this year. What a golden age for great music.

    This is for me the best song ever. If I ever die then I want this song at my cremation. My kids know that. I get goose bumps from this song every time again. Thanks Gilbert ❤

    God bless Lulu for having the wisdom and foresight to spot the early genius of Gilbert OSullivan and allowing him on her show back in 1971! OK, so maybe it wasn't enterily her decision alone but you get my point!

    Gilbert OSullivan has written countless marvellous songs but We Will has to rank among his Top 5 finest ever songs! Released around the time of his first album Gilbert OSullivan Himself, it wasn't included the album, adding more value for money for those who bought the album, allowing one extra new song on a most perfect debut album!

    An important single release for Gilbert OSullivan. His second single had underperformed in Britain so it was essential that his third single was a commercial success. It most certainly was. Reaching The Top 10 and establishing Gilbert in the Top 10/20 for years to come. We Will has to rank among his all time 5 best songs This man has countless gems on his repertoire but We Will has that extra magic, warmth and humanity that is second to none.

    jezzyby47 A simple DND test would crack this case wide open, regarding this Paul/Faul controversy. That would be definite proof, wouldn't it!? The original recordings of Wings and solo years obviously reveals the original Paul McCartney singing those songs. I mean his voice is uncanny similar to that of Paul's voice anno 1962-1965! Maybe you could do it with voice analysis software using master tapes from the early 60s if you could get a snippet of Paul on his own back then on what 4 track? I doubt Faul would want that to happen though, don't you? If he's kept schtum for so long, why would he want to be found out? It would be better to come out and do those interviews and books. If it happens it will come from Ringo imo, and AFTER Faul has left us.

  • @thomasmarthinussen8978

    @thomasmarthinussen8978

    Why won't Faul take credit for all the songs he's written? The composer is always listed as Paul McCartney. If Faul is real, it is identity theft, wouldn't you agree? He's playing the role of Paul McCartney when it's really a different person? I mean, every 70s, 80s, 90s and 00 solo recordings are listed as Paul McCartney songs and albums! If Paul offered his DNA for testing it would probably reveal he's the real McCartney but he don't see the point. The majority of Beatles fans and 99% of regular people know its the one and only Paul McCartney! There may be some other crucial evidences but the change of Paul's appearance and looks along the years obviously reveals its the one and sameman! To me, anyway! I do find this interesting, though but I'm not a particular fan of unwarranted conspiracy theories. It's usually a distraction and only raises more questions than it answers. I'm just curious: Do you believe the earth is flat and the moon landing aas a hoax? You may have answered it already but feel free to tell me again!

    @@thomasmarthinussen8978 - Not sure about either of those 2 conspiracy theories really. As for Paul and Faul, look at the Off the wall album by Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson (from was it Heatwave?) wrote lots of songs for Michael Jackson. All he would have to do is have his own publishing house which he does anyway and he can call himself whatever he wants. Prince wrote songs for Chakha Khan, The Bangles and others under various pseudonyms.

    @@jezzyby47 Interesting for sure and I'm gonna read more about the Paul/Faul controversy in the coming weeks. There's probably a lot of information on the net. Back to John Lennon: I almost forgot my favourite song he wrote during the Beatles years, namely Across The Universe. It's not necessarily better than All You Need Is Love or Strawberry Fields Forever but I think it's my favourite song of his. I love the entire Imagine album and his last ever album Double Fantasy found Lennon in an inspired mood writing great songs. Can't honestly say I care for the Yoko Ono songs on the album, though! As for Paul/Faul. Lots of fine albums during the 70s not that many fine ones during the 80s but his "comeback" album Flaming Pie from 1997 is a marvellous album. Everything I love about his songwriting and singing is found on that album. It didn't hurt to have both Steve Miller and Jeff Lynne contributing as well and some tasty orchestral portions conducted by the one and only George Martin makes the album a definite winner. What's your favourite Beatles album albums and what's your favourite Faul solo album? His McCartney III was a disappointing album for me. Granted, I've only played that bad boy a couple of times. It may grow on me with further spins! Don't make fun of me when I admit I love We All Stand Together( The Frog Chorus)! It holds sentimental value for since it was one of the first music videos I watched on MTV back in, was it 1982, 1983 or 1984? I don't mind the romantic sentimental Faul at all. He obviously could rock with ease but I love his soft rock songs and childlike songs just as much! As for George Harrison, his 1987 Cloud Nine is a personal favourite. I really don't have any Ringo solo albums, just a Compilation but I hardly play it at all. Back to George Harrison: Here Comes The Sun is a superb song and would make an excellent single. Too bad George only got one single A side, Something. Thankfully it was a charttoppa in either UK or US but only for a week or two, if my memory serves me right. Either way, it's a timeless classic and Frank Sinatra once quipped it was his all time favourite Lennon/McCartney song!😅

    In this crappy music era, singers like Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Randy Newman and Gilbert OSullivan wouldn't stand a chance. They all share not particularly great singing voices but they all share their own distinctive vocals. I loathe singing contest like The Voice etc where only singers with a "great" singing voice are able to make it. A select few of them have interesting voices and as for the most part they sound identical to eachother, especially the female artists! Don't get me wrong. I like a beautiful perfect pitch voice but I like my singers to have an off beat quality as well and Lord you really get that with Dylan, Waits, Newman and OSullivan!
