appreciate having Gilbert on. behind the loud voice and nasty humor is a guy with a heart of gold who goes all out for his fans, especially the kids. Im a single dad and my son has Crohns disease. He loves Gilbert. Son was having a hard time with part of intestine removed and has to have injections every week. I paid for a cameo and Gilbert went off script and went into how much his dad loves him and how I want to do anything to keep him safe and healthy. Gilbert is an angel, helped my son so much.

My dad, who is is seventy years old, made a comment a few years back that he knows more people who are dead, at this point, than people who are living. Yeah he really is the definition of underrated. And he's never compromised either. Gilbert doesn't get the respect he should. Also, should be noted Howard Stern helped him out a lot for a long time. Stern always put Gilbert over and when nobody knew really anything about him Howard would have him on and give him love. Don't matter what anyone thinks of Howard...doing that for Gilbert, especially back then when Stern himself was way bigger, was pretty awesome. Ironically he did the same for Rogan way back when too. Had him on a lot and before Joe was REALLY famous, Stern let him host the show for either a few days or a week when he was on vacation. Which is a fucking HUGE deal, especially when nobody really knew Joe (good luck finding these episodes, I believe it may have even been pre-Sirius). Then of course he talked shit about Rogan and said some lies on air about Joe and Joe jumped to just doing Opie & Anthony. And that's all we got for todays episode of ROGAN HISTORY!

Gilbert is one of the funniest men on the planet. People underestimate how much of a comic genius he truly is because of the exaggerated voice

Love Gilbert Gottried. Gottried roating George Takei was a classic. Man is a comedy treasure. Gilbert Gottried walking an entire room by doing Othello in the 70s' is another classic.

Nothing like watching two wise old men communicating about another wise old man through the reflections on the heads.

Gilbert has been working so hard forever. His act might not be as big as Kevin Hart(also a great guy that works very hard) but GG has achieved a level of fame that few can. Gilbert seems very genuine. Guests that are on just for fun and to chill as so much better than guests on to push their own fame or agenda. I get some guests that have books or film out HAVE to sell it but sometimes it comes off fake.

I ran into him on the street in S.F. a couple times. I didn't know what to say to him. He was drunk both times. There was a lot of drinking places in my hood. I saw him from a distance other times, diff parts of the city. He walked around town a lot. I didn't know at the time he had 50 bicycles or that he was with a Filipina woman. I could have talked about those things. He was drunk, I gave him his space.

@@Nowhereoh Robin in his younger days was a harcore partier and did loads of drugs. He partied with John Belushi and was with him the night John died. I always had this family friendly view of Robin growing up. Its weird rewathing What Dreams May Come where he dies years after his kids had already died and then his wife kills herself after being left alone. Robin goes to hell to bring his wife back from her own personal hell. Suicide was a major theme of the movie. Not to bad mouth but Joe saying Robin showed up at his show, there are many comedians who claim Robin was known to randomly show up at other comedians shows and was known to steal some material.

I wish I was older while Williams was in his prime...I appreciate his work so much more now that I am.

Great stuff. Gilbert used to do Howard Stern and would sit in for the news, and at the time (well over 2 decades ago) it was revolutionary humor.

Hopping online and seeing that Joe did a 3 HOUR podcast with Gilbert really made my whole week. Loved it!

Carlin was the formative force for me. I wish I could have met him

I've never seen Gilbert in awe of another comedian. Wow. I knew he respected some and liked old school guys, but he really the thought highly of Carlin.

What a blessing to have found this tonight. Honestly refreshing to see this more intimate side of Gilbert, just busting it up with Rogan. What a treasure that Joe had him on the podcast. This man has injected his style into comedy and it will be here long after were all gone. Well Played Gilbert. Rest Easy.

ive been watching and rewatching and listening in a podcast form to the same carlin shows for ten years. sometimes ill listen to the same special multiple times in a week and still not get bored. the world lost a wonderfully unique human in george who i dont think will ever be replaced. i remember watching life is worth losing on hbo with my mom and being so excited when its bad for ya came out then he died. at the time i was 16 and didnt really have my full opinion on him but i never imagined he would still be my favorite comedian over ten years later. i believe he will be my favorite comedian until the day i die his takes are untouchable, aged like wine and all hes doing is pointing out truths in society. i wish we couldve seen what he had to say on politics these days he wouldve had a field day and if he could go on the JRE in 2020 it wouldve been the best show even if he was an old fuck.

Gilbert did a stand upat my theatre on his 50th birthday. Afterwards about 8 of us went and ate dinner with him

My Dad and me saw Carlin live at The Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver BC, in Feb 2003. Neither one of us will ever forget it.

Having Gilbert on Rogan is amazing! If Williams was still alive..what a dream team. Throw Carlin in there too!

What I would give to have one 30-minute conversation, or hell... just ONE more moment of a Robin Williams experience in my life... it can't be put into words. I didn't know him personally, so I can't say for certain as though I REALLY knew him, but I've seen countless recounts and stories like Gilberts' behind the scenes anecdote that only solidifies how absolutely wonderful that man was. The world REALLY could've used Robin to get through 2020 and 2021.

I used to watch Carlin when i was just a boy w/dad. Good times. The man was brilliant. I’m now 40yrs old and he’s still relevant to this day.

Been binging Gilbert lately since re-watching his hilarious Norm Macdonald Live episode, awesome to see him on Rogan now

Its weird seeing Gilbert talk about his career and who he looked up to. Gilbert is an all time member of of my childhood. Love you man. Keep living your own life.
