So I have the super triple play deal which includes 1000 mbps and I was recommended to upgrade from the x3 modem to the x6. I did so the guy came in an installed the modem but I never reach higher speeds than 117 on my phone and only 60 through my ps4 which is frustrating because I game a lot.. also my mom works from home from time to time and I suffer major buffering on devices... I also purchased the xFi pods to help with dead zones and connectivity problems but it still really doesn’t help any suggestions ?

I need this speed in my life.... Can't do 10 down and .8 up no more. I got lag while writing this comment.

How well does the XB6 compare to the XB3. I'm planning on upgrading tomorrow but I wish to know how the experience has changed and most importantly, is there more range than the XB6

When using a VPN with this type of service the speed will still drop but how much?

Got the same speed as you have. I have my own modem and have a nighthawk AX12 router to get me the speeds I need. So far been happy with Comcast Xfinity internet gigabit.

What microchip runs in XB6 Gateway?

are you using the Comcast modem / router or do you use your own router and what kind of cables are you using cat5 cat6 or cat7. IM using my own router that's a Netgear Nighthawk X6s tri band and IM provisioned for the 1GB down load but I'm only seeing at most 500 MB and when I go direct to the modem I discovered something I can ping the same place say 10 times and Ill get numbers all over the place lol everything from 989.00 MB down to 488.00 MB

I use the Comcast Modem / Router or Gateway in there terms, I dont have my own router yet, as for cables id have to check but Im using the stock cables that came with the gateway so im sure there nothing fancy. As for speedtests, I get the same 900+ Mbps down and 40Mbps up, every single speed test. Thats on wired ethernet connection on my Ryzen 3 gaming PC. You should see 700 to 900 Mbps download consistently. If not, theres allot of variables that can affect your network speed. PC performance being a big factor.

I just got this modem and did it because they offer unlimited data with the XB6. Stable Ethernet speed and get 500mbps on my iPhone 8 Plus even when I’m on the far end if the home. The signal strength is great on 5ghz.

I just bought this service from Xfinity and decided to expand Ethernet connections via a few MoCA modules to connect directly to devices away from my Xfinity Modem/Router in different rooms. After I set everything up with my homes coax system, the Xfinity Modem/Router doesn’t send data through my homes coax system. Any knowledge or advice with this type of setup? Does Xfinity block or have filters disabling MoCA networking?

Theres a setting for Moca when you pull up the gateway settings with the gateway ip address but I don't have experience in that type of setup.

Get connected to your WiFi or plug directly into the modem. Then open a browser and in the address bar type in 10.0.0.1 and log in using admin as the log in name and password as the password if it was left at default login.then go to moca and turn it on.

Also with fios I have nat type issues on my ps4 I cant never get open nat type and you cant really buy a different router you have to stick with the one they provided you

I have the same one and my isp goes up to 200 mbps but it's super slow, if I connect a netgear modem to it will it increase my speeds?

Just got this modem. Quick question, when I try to play games it kicks me out and says connection lost. Own PS4 pro and Xbox one x. Does the same for both no matter the game. I read it’s the bx6 gateway. My modem before I had no problems. Any fixes?

This gateway works fine on my consoles and devices. No issues here. I did open the ports so my Xbox One X has a open Nat. Other then that no D/C issues.

The reason it has 2 ports, is to connect those two ports to say a Nighthawk router , one wire for outgoing and one wire for incoming to get over one gigabit speeds , routers like the Nighthawk are capable of that.

Yep 😁 I'm a big fan of Comcast / Xfinity but my stuff works. The connection can be spotty / bad depending on your area. Here in Tennessee, if Comcast doesn't fix the speed we have AT&T as a alternative which is also near fiber speeds. Thanks for the sub. Keeping calling customer support until they fix it, they don't want to loose customers to their competition 🤣

Edwin Villanueva I had someone come out to fix it and it worked for a day then broke again. Every now and then I have to restart my phone. Some things like the Apple TV also don’t work. Throw it out and get a new one or a different one

Beau Gaecke : These XB6 modem/routers work well as a cable modem. The wifi is not so good. I suggest you bridge a good wifi router to address your upstairs reception.

I got the orbi WiFi 6 rbk852 mesh WiFi system and it works GREAT 🔥🔥🔥. Not to mention keeps great speeds even with the whole family on the internet.

I also signed up for the Xfi 1 gig speed. My first problem with 1 Gig Xfi: I was told you can only use the Comcast modem for 1Gig speed. I bought my own Motorola modem and they would not activate it. Second, the download speed is not consistent. I have done multiple speedtests with results between 100Mbps and 950. Third, I have 3 story townhouse and I purchased the Xfi Pods. In a nutshell, they are disspointing. I got speed of 40Mbps to 180Mbps. I have a Mac 4 memory slots with 8GB each, each of which accepts a 2400 MHz DDR4 memory. Hence no problem on the back end. Unfortunately, I have no other option to stick with Comcast.

That's because PS4 don't have the best network cards installed so they will always have higher pings and slower speeds then a iPhone

ATT is slightly more premium being fiber to the home. This Xfinity setup uses the same Coaxel as traditional cable.

Comcast charge for Installation of the XB6 modem as customers are unable to connect the Fiber line from the pole to house. Tip:. Don't go for XB6 modem if your speed is below 300Mbps because XB6 doesn't support slow speeds and you will keep facing Internet in and out.

I get phenomenal internet from the XB6 however, seems like once a day, or a few times a week, the light stars blinking out of nowhere and I’m totally out of internet for 10-15 minutes until it’s solid light again. I can’t find a resolution anywhere. This is so frustrating. Should I get a new modem from Xfinity? This is such crap

Gigabit speed was having a special offer price as of yesterday, I know because I moved to a new house and just got service with Xfinity, it was $25 to start and $105 a month with the xFi gateway.

I also got the gig speed from xfinity but I got my own modem and router to really take advantage of the full gig speed I was paying for. I got the netgear night hawk cm1200 modem and and orbi WiFi 6 RBK852 router. I did a speed test on my iPhone and got 940.3 download, 42.12 upload, & 14.85 ping. And when I did the speed test my son was on the PS4(fortnight), daughter on her laptop(Roblocks), other son on his tablet(KZread), and wife was on her iPad(checking RING camera). All that and I still got great speeds on my phone. I was getting nothing close to that when I had that modem router combo from xfinity.

I got 600 mbps widd Comcast 😩 they coming tomorrow to install coming from AT&T 300 mbps which is terrible in my location 😔..

I love xfinity, and their XB6 but for an advanced IT techie like me it just doesn’t qualify. Great concept and design of the device itself and it’s software. However, it’s CPU and RAM are good for average people, it doesn’t work good with all 42 devices connected, I guess I’m overloading it. Aside from that, it’s settings are very basic and what I would consider “homeowner-ish” I guess I can’t complain though, I mean it’s not for a business. One setting that pissed me off that was blocked is the DNS server, I run PiHole and unfortunately I have to set dns manually for very device, and even then the XB6 doesn’t like my custom dns servers when on WiFi. 🤦‍♂️it’s a good router though, I’ll probably upgrade to my own. Great video!

Hey I have a question, So comcast came to install today, But they said Enon or fiber will not work with the xb6, and gave me some black looking standard router, but he said it was the newest one. Does that make sense? Phone speeds are 400mbps and hooked direct is around 850, but downloading games on phone doesn't seem that fast, it took me 1 minute to download a 1gb game, does that sound normal? 20gb in 20 minutes seems slow..

It sounds like you do have the 1gbit plan but on that plan, it allows for 1gbit down and about 40mbps up. As for the phone make sure it's on the 5ghz wifi channel. On my setup I have 2 separate wifi connections or SSID. One is for 5gh the other is for 2.4ghz. But even on a 1gbit connection your only able to download at what ever speed the source is able to upload at. And allot of websites won't even allow for downloading at 1gbit. For example my Xbox One X won't download games at 1gbit because Microsoft won't send the games that fast.

I currently have fios gig and I only get 300mbps download and 900mbps upload and to be honest I experienced so much hit markers when I play shooter games and also my ping was 20ms which is ridiculous.

I just live in a one level apartment so I can't give you a honest answer on that. Sorry man. I vouche for the main connection though my PC pulls full speed 24 7

I've had the XFINITY 1gb internet for almost a year now & my speeds are extremely slow I only get 6mbps on my ps4. Ive had several techs come to my house & every time nothing works & they say there's nothing they can do. I'm constantly lagging on the game, I can never broadcast & it takes forever to download updates. Does anyone know. Anything I can do to fix this? Comcast does not care I'm basically wasting $100+ a month for internet that doesn't even work this is very annoying & stressful

If it was working the first time you installed it there is no way it shouldn't work this time around. I recommend to have them rewire those lines then have them test it out using there own device to check if it's a problem on what's coming in to modem or your ps4s. You should test the speed on a PC. They can send you a minimum system requirement

The speeds are still kind of slow with WiFi so it must be something in my house messing with the signal strength idk🤷🏾‍♂️ but I found that when I connect my devices threw Ethernet I'm getting the right speeds, my ps4 is getting around 600mbps I'm fine with that

More important download 1gbit is more important than upload. And Comcast see that. It's very rare someone needs to upload at 1gbps. Upload at 1gbps is just a sale point for ATT.

Dennis Carnell I am no more than 150 feet or so. And my ONT to my modem it’s via Cat 7 Cable. then I run a Cat 6 from my AT&T gateway to my own personal WiFi 6 router.

Try using a different web browser when doing your speed tests. Also if you have Windows 10 try installing the official Ookla Speed test app on the windows store. Programs and apps in the background can affect speed test results.

I'm getting not even close to what I'm paying. 400mbps and I only get 32 to 33 mbps. Gaming sucks big time. Comcast/Xfinity

You need ping/latency for gaming... not speed. Speed wise 10mbps is solid for gaming

If your a gamer your gona need your own modem and router to take full advantage of who ever you decided to get internet from. And I would suggest wired option over WiFi if you want faster speeds fir gaming.

What if you are uploading a lot of content on to youtube? I wonder how that'll be in an Xfinity environment....I'm currently using fiber!!

Is there anything I can buy to make my mbps higher?

I just get the new modem is running 1GB internet speed in perfect conditions whithout issues!

I know this is 3 months late, but I just had a question. Do you know about how much time needs to pass after the Comcast service is disconnected before a technician needs to come in and install the service? I was 7 years old in 2004 when we moved to our house and I seem to recall that she had just basic cable TV. I think she had paid it out for about a month or two after we moved in. Between mid-2004 and late 2018 we had no Comcast service at home. When we moved from AT&T to Comcast a couple of techs had to come over to install the internet and TV service. I'm pretty sure my dad and I could have installed it ourselves but I don't know if the TV service had anything to do with Comcast needing to send out techs.

Get the xFi pods , they have an Ethernet port on pod , gaming is way better now for me

They charge for the install, not the service. Technically they are providing the service even to devices that aren't supporting the full speed. So technically you are just paying the fee for a technician to set up your new box. You're supposed to be able to refuse the install, like if you have 400mbps plan you need that modem even though you don't have the gig plan, so you can refuse that way then upgrade to gig speed without having a tech come out. If you already upgraded to gig without having the gateway then a tech is sent out just in case. At least that is my understanding of it thus far although I don't work for them. Now if you refuse a tech but then are not getting those speeds so you call and need a tech for an install, there are a few problems there, first they will charge you, second it can be more, third is their system won't let you escalate an install. Was on the phone with a lady for an hour, her supervisor reached out and they could not do it. Basically saying people with real issues that are already scheduled come first as a first come first serve basis with installs being secondary in priority because of how quick they are so they almost never can get same day or next day service unless extra techs are available that day. Part of it has to do with the FCC regulations for emergencies, which was also what changed for ISPs this year due to that hurricane in Florida. Comcast and other ISP's had technicians at individual people's houses doing fixes instead of actually fixes to infrastructure and structural damages so that people could effectively communicate with emergency responders, etc. Thus everyone calling in about why they can't always get a tech out that day from their ISP's simply don't understand that in order to actually now do that, they have to hire more technicians that can do that work, which means people have to apply for the jobs at those locations in order for them to have enough extra techs on staff to satisfy the new changes proposed. Notice they aren't written into law, and requiring mandatory hard punishes and inspecting ISP's to constantly follow them. Soft spoken just means it's documented and that they will be held accountable for not adhering to it in the event of a disaster that directly lead to someone not being able to contact their emergency services due to negligence by the ISP in which that person is severely injured or dies as a result. There are very brief descriptions on the FCC's website about their requirements from ISP's that touches on this but a full breakdown is still being discussed between ISP's and the FCC about the exact guidelines that should/will be out in place by the FCC. The regulations protecting consumers from having their services cut due to bill payment during a severe weather related emergency are already there, this is another step on top of that to further help expand the safety nets of the American citizen in a sense.

It is usually total bandwidth. You won't get a full gig to one device.

Like someone said before it’s total bandwidth Between all your devices. If you want to keep faster speeds between all your devices simultaneously you would need to buy your own modem and router. I did and I regularly get 900mbps speed test on my iPhone and that’s with the whole family using at the same time.

FYI make sure ur XB6 modem says "XB6-T" if u have the XB6-A return it to comcast and get the T model...i had the -A model and it was junk so i cancel service this was 6 months ago,got GIG service again (it came with a package deal) this month and they gave me me the model i wanted for the past 6 months and speeds are just fine..upload speeds suck they could at least do 200Mbps upload

I just checked mine, and it is XB6-A "Sad Face", but i havnt had any network issues yet. When I do speed tests I get full speed every single time. No issues to report so far.

And again you are also correct about the upload speed. Mine max is about 4 to 5 MB/s which is decent but guess i cant complain for the price and also since they didnt need to run full fiber to my home.

if it aint broke dont fix it...i even talk to the tech who came to my house (i didnt pay the BS $60 fee for a guy to come to my house to screw wires from old modem to the new comcast they wont charge me.) and said that they had a big meeting about the XB6-A and not to use them any more

yea upload is crap but 40Mbps upload is alot better than that 10Mbps i had before,if u would to get true fiber GIG speeds go with verizon or ATT the upload speeds are 700Mbps+!...sucks that the only ISP in my town is Comshit...only way for me to get true GIG speeds is for me to be on the 2GIG up and down from comcast then they would have to install the fiber line to ur house

Thats what the xb6 looks like? Wow, sfinity sent me the same box saying it was an upgrade. Ever since my wifi acts up, and my guest wifi is open 24/7 and all me paranoid but sh*t has been acting wierd since.

Netgear has a DOCSIS 3.1 wireless router for $400. Yeah, $400 and shit. Crazy. I'm having the tech come out and install ( Supposedly) everything and when he leaves, I'm switching modems. Don't need gigabit internet download, I need more then the current 12mbps on the blast package for my gaming KZread channel. Says it has up to 42mbps so as long as my Netgear gives me 42mbps, I could care less about gigabit download speeds. No need for gigabit download speeds, I need upload speed.

I've never seen a DOCSIS 3.1 modem/router for $400 thats stupid. DOCSIS 3.1 modems can usually be gotten just under $100 in the used market.

Why are you using a Comcast "gateway" aka router. Just hook your docsis modem up to your own router. Many routers offer gigabit Ethernet
