Couldn't agree more! Gibson had a run with GC called the Dark Knight Les Paul. While I like that guitar, during the same time, they had a Limited Edition Standard that had the same ALL BLACK theme, including black oxide/ black chrome pickup covers, and all black hardware and accoutrements. It was basically the Les Paul I always dreamed of owning as a kid, a BLACK BURST with black hardware and accessories, only unlike the Dark Knight, this one didn't have the satin finish, or the black pearl inlays. The Standard version was $400 more than the Dark Knight, but it had the typical gloss nitro finish that you expect on a Les Paul, and the trapezoid inlays were pearl instead of black pearl. While I did dig the black pearl inlays of the Dark Knight Les Paul, the Standard to me takes the cake all day because its TRUE 100% Gibson, EXACTLY as any other burst spec Standard would be, only it had the killer transparent black burst finish, black hardware, black knobs, black strap buttons, black pickup rings, black poker chip (which was the other thing the Dark Knight didn't have by the way. I don't typically like the poker chip on my Les Pauls, but I feel like since they are so easily removable, that they should include them on everything, because you never know what the guy who buys it next, if that ever happens, is going to like and it does help resale value for a Les Paul to be as true to Classic spec as it can possibly be), it just had black EVERYTHING! I know this isn't necessarily everyone's cup of tea, and its certainly a deviation from the historic look color-wise, but the fact that it wasn't aftermarket, and Gibson did it all from the factory, just made it remarkable, and I believe any person who saw it would certainly never deny that it is a stellar guitar and an outstanding take on the Les Paul. And while yes, it is BLACK burst, it IS still a burst, not just a simple transparent black finish. Gibson pulled it off PERFECTLY, and with the gloss nitro, it just looks fantastic, and I wanted one more than I think Ive wanted just about anything in my entire f'n LIFE. I worked my ass off and kept checking for a couple weeks, saving, and I sold some gear and when I had what I needed together, I went on to purchase it and they had literally JUST sold out of them! To this day, as beautiful as that guitar is, I can't help but wonder just how many pricks there are out there who can't even play a single note, but who have one of the Black Burst Standards hanging on their wall, or in a case on a wall with 4 other collectibles, 2 of which are some kind of custom or other, and two which are reissue R8s or R9s that were someone else's dream, and probably even got one for his kid who can't play a lick either! I hate to think on how many individuals there might be out there doing the very same thing, simply because they've got money and think guitars look cool, they're out there buying the sweet limited run guitars, and then waiting for the run to stop and holding onto it for another year, or just long enough that it's not forgotten, only to turn around and sell it for some even more rediculously grotesque amount of money, to some guy that actually wants to PLAY the damn thing, only now, if he wants one, he's got to pay the premium for it and put a second mortgage out on his house, get a third job, AND still get a loan to go along with all that, not to mention, if he's married, hope and pray his wife doesn't leave him if she were ever to have the slightest inkling what he actually paid for the damn thing. (I can promise you there is a significant number of families who were split apart behind guys purchasing their Les Pauls and then their wives finding out about what they cost... Because if I ever find one of these Standards, I'll do all the above without question, and if n when I do (the only IF being IF I manage to find one), I'm pretty sure it'll be the end of my marriage, so I've already prepared myself to accept it)... Anyway, yeah, it should be illegal to sell guitars as a means of profiteering. Let such jackasses find some other item to go flip. Unfortunately, guitars areone of only a very few things left in this world which are worth collecting AND actually retain quite a great deal of their value

We are the exact opposite in that aspect, I hate teardrop burst. 100% of the time I would prefer a perimeter burst or dark on the top and burst around the edges on the bottom. I hate teardrop burst on every single guitar I've seen it on.

  • @clarkbabin9799

The cinnaburst looks like the edges were done in copper. I love it. I liked the way the did the specials too. Especially the one you said sort of looks like the Atari logo. Wouldn't take much to make one look exactly like it. Now that I see the bronze burst I think maybe the cinnburst might me a variation having the edges bronze. Looks the bronze burst looks awesome. You'd think if Gibson is going to do something different with plastics they could if not make it match the would do something really off the wall like putting the white mother of toilet seat or try to match the rest of the plastics. Man o man if I hadn't bought that last SG from you I'd sure be looking at the vintage sunburst. The LP Future looks so odd with the Steinberger tuners but I'd consider getting one like that one Gibsons page. I think I was seeing double at the end there. I'll just have to get better pay win the lotto or find me a sugar momma. To many great guitars not enough dough.

Gibson told me I was dumb for asking them to try and fix the twisted neck issues my guitar had. I was gonna ask them to simply fret dress the guitar atfirst and the customer service employee told me “you are asking for WWWWAAYYY” too much” and I was less than 2 mins into the conversation . Guy said “oh i love this !! I GET PAID TO DO THIS” “I VALLED YOU DUMB BECAUSE YOU DESERVE IT” He told me to write his name down and record the convo . 15 mins into the convo I told him “hold on I’m gonna record this and take you up on your offer” then he told me I needed something to do and hung up on me after trying to insult me for almost 20 mins. All because they sold a guitar with a screwed up necks called the supervisor and left voice mails. He even called back. They don’t care and have deleted my comments on their Channels . “Only a Gibson’s good enough” lol....

(To be fair, a Les Paul Axcess has been on my bucket list for a while, though what I truly want is a Les Paul with Axcess-like specs but a specific custom finish similar to an old Epiphone Classic Quilt-Top in trans black that I used to have before it got stolen.)

Find a 2016-2017 LP Studio HP with the original aluminum case, G-Force tuners and you will be 😊. They have the Axcess neck heel. The G-Force tuners are simple to remove and replace with no tool Hipshots with the universal mounting kit. Just make sure and get the correct diameter for the holes. Same can be done with the standard LP HP's. Just make sure and get the original case with them or you'll be paying $400+ trying to find one.

@@kennethh2430 I used to have that same Epiphone guitar. It was my second guitar ever. I started learning on an Ibanez RG270, but once I got some sense and had learned to play pretty decently, I traded that guitar in for the Epiphone Classic Limited Edition. It was ALL black. Quilted maple top with trans black finish, black hardware and accouterments, with pearl trapezoid inlays and cream colored binding that I loved back then because I thought it made the guitar look more vintage. I put a Gibson Dirty Fingers humbucker in the bridge and left the neck pickup alone because it sounded pretty damn good. Gibson actually made a GIBSON version of this guitar in 2019. It was a Les Paul Standard in Trans Black burst, and it's the most beautiful guitar I have ever seen in my life! It was $3600 and sold out before I could afford it. Biggest bummer ever. Now, if I you were lucky enough to even find one for sale, the seller would probably be asking 10 g's minimum.

Quick review on the LAVENDER BURST (upon receiving it). It smells freshly painted. The finish is fairly thick and flat, semi-gloss at best in some areas. It appears the whole guitar was sprayed a pearlescent white (including the back), then the lavender was applied on top. Not the cleanest job, as some white overspray made it onto the fretboard in a couple spots (nothing crazy...disclosed in the description, loosely, but for the price, they should have cleaned it up a little better, IMO). Hand-wired pots. The MHS pickups sound amazing and the fretwork is excellent. It sounds and plays great. The purple pick-up rings and black nickel pick-up covers are my favorite part. They look amazing.

The spacing between the pickups on the CM Black looked like they might be further apart than usual, which made me excited to think it might be 25.5 inch scale, which would make sense since it's aimed at metal/heavier styles that often tune lower. Alas, it was not to be.

Great video and insight. Is there a particular day of the week ,month, or year that Gibson updates their offerings on their website? Or is it random? Also, any info on releases of a 2022 Les Paul?

I like the Molten Orange. Lava looks best when it's contrasted against black, so I like the black neck and back. Too bad you couldn't snag that one. Looks like a real keeper!

Everytime I see a Les Paul with a snow white back i think of what Rick Neilson had done with his. He had "The Beatles" done in the bands script on back. And speaking of. I just watched the Get Back documentary and I kept seeing George Harrison playing that one stratocaster that you had a copy of. Made me think of you and that copy not to mention all the wonderful guitars you've displayed for is through the years. Not to quote one of George Harrison's song but yeah.

I would love to have that Les Paul Special with the 3 P90s. If it were chambered w/ f-holes and equipped with push-pull phase cancelation in the vol. pots, it would be even better. After that, let's have a 12 string rendition.

I bought a CM Black and immediately sent it back - GARBAGE! And imagine how much Gibson is saving by not painting the backs (and not lowering the price). $2,500 - $5k, and they didn’t finish painting it…

You really have accelerated your teenager opinions on the look of each guitar. There are looks i like and you don’t. what makes you so special in the style area! at 65 i watch your channel for your knowledge of the Gibsons. who cares what you like in how they look. HOW the paint was done, or the quality of the mod etc. is where you shine really. i am also an old voice over guy and i got to tell you, you’re voice is very unique. i make no joke when i say that you would kill it in animated movies, children’s cartoons. i’m dead serious. your voice, laugh, intonations, and vocal mannerisms are fantastic. you sound like a pre pubescent, very goofy boy around 11-12-13. that is not an insult. i easily a $ix figure voice.
