Funny comment. I assume it was humour. You want to hear REAL ES 175 try Wes Montgomery, Pat Metheny, Joe Pass. That's what an ES 175 is for. Steve Howe...pfft...I'll never forgive him for Asia.

Ariel’s back! Thanks for this guys…haven’t been able to watch much for the last couple of months so was glad to see this! From Scotty Moore’s ES-295, Steve Howe’s ES-175, Nugent’s Byrdland, and a million more fingerstyle/rockabilly/jazzier guys, these things are gorgeous and very versatile. I hear Tele’s used to be considered ‘canoe paddles’ back in the 50’s. I love solid bodies but really appreciate the craftsmanship on these - and that Lee is stocking them!

damn, with jazz theres really nowhere to run/hide who is the more accomplished player in the genre. Ariel comps more tastefully, knowing you dont need to always chord on every quarter note, while also managing to walk a bassline at the same time. And when he solos, he picks up every diminished 7 chord and really outlines the changes better. Pete sticks to the blues scale more (though to be fair I heard him outline the changes a few times). Moral of the story is that jazz is brutally honest.

Danish P is brilliant and better than I could ever hope to be - but Ariel is something else IMHO. Wow. I love the way he uses the dynamics and tone, changing it all the time. The Andertons 335 comparison with Pete and Ariel is a case in point. Saying that, Pete blows my mind frequently. But I think Ariel holds back a bit in the duo stuff. Love to see him live. He seems like a young Larry Carlton. But out of all the youtube guitar demos ol' Gregory Kochery takes some beatin'.

I'm very young, but Yes is now one of my all time favorites, including The Beatles, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen, and Rush. They all led me to appreciate music as a magical, and spiritual caricature.

Having played both, I'd go for the 275, for purely practical reasons. The size & depth of the 175 are such that playing one for longer than 5-10 minutes aggravates an old shoulder injury, which is really annoying (& PAIN!ful) as I prefer the neck & general feel of the 175 over the 275. Either way, both are stunning guitars...

  • @StreetSmash24

I've visited the Memphis factory and the first floor is mostly a HUGE empty lobby, a small store featuring Custom shop guitars and a modest build area in the back that I was fortunate enough to take a tour through. Pete is right. They don't build many guitars a day there but I do remember the guide telling us that they make the semi hollows and jazz boxes there... the Montana factory produces the acoustic lineup and the third factory(I don't recall where that one is) makes the LP's, Explorers, Firebirds and SG's. It did seem a bit excessive to me that such a limited lineup was being produced in such a massive building.
