I love mine from 09. But really wish they would fix the stupid bridge design. I swapped mine for a hip shot and the difference is amazing

Same went for the hipsot replacement for that 3 point bridge. Sucks to pay a high price only to put more money into it. But that tubby mid range tone is to die for.

My question: was that fuzz the natural neck pickup sound? Because for college graduation my family was gonna swing for someone to custom build a bass for me, and I was planning on a Flying V bass with an aggressive sound, but also able to lay down some smooth sounding stuff on another pickup, and be able to have a nice mix on both running at the same time without the other bleeding through. I do love that neck pickup though.

It would’ve been awesome if the bassist from AC/DC played one of these while angus plays the sg guitar

Geezer Butler from Black Sabbath played one for a short time specifically because it complemented Toni Iomi and his SG

Save $1000+ by buying an Epiphone EB-0 and adding the mini-humbucker bridge pickup and tone pot.

Gotta replace the tuners too. Those Epiphone EB-0s have terrible tuning stability.

@Ulli Michel I have done something similar with a Ventura EB 0 copy. I put a DiMarzio Model One in it, Grover tuners, intonatable bridge and it honestly sounds nothing like the SG bass although in my opinion carries a more similar tone to the EB 0. I have a demo of it on my channel as well as a second demo when I added a bridge pickup.

No thanks. I don't buy instruments made in communist China. I'll happily splurge $1,500 on the Gibson.

@@jballapkt7134 Every EQ at noon? What that comment tells me is that you are used to active circuitry. This is a passive bass. There are very few passive basses that have any more than one tone knob. The oldest of Fender Jazz basses had two. The old Gibson EB3 basses had two. And maybe a few other oddball basses. On the other hand, if it is an active bass, you've usually got lows, mids, highs in active EQ. If that is what you are thinking, I don't think Gibson has ever done that. You won't be getting that out of Gibson. Musicman, some Fenders, Warwick, Spector, etc. That's what you want.
