Hiya Sammy from RSA. What you call a tailor we call a shad. For me arguebly one of the best eating fish in the sea, however there is a fine line between cooking them perfectly and over cooking them. Yes this applies to all fish, but specifically this variety. I have found the best way to prepare and cook them is; gut, head and tail off, leave fish whole, skin on. Cut two or three angled cuts plus minus 45°(depending on fish size) on the sides down to the bone. Add spices into the cuts and stomach area (fish spice and lemon pepper). Add a bit oil to a frying pan and do fish each side once once only and "Bobs your uncle and Fannies your aunt" oh so yummy. Careful, they cook very quickly.

@SammyHitzkeFishing they are generally a by catch when the guys target cob, similar to your salmon. The large ones are quite scarce though. Saw one once around 8kg that didn't even look like the same species any longer, the same for us as we age, I reckon.

Ah, the joys and tribulations of traveling and fishing with a troupe of kids. Both miss it and also don't. 😂 Mine is 28, the Ex and I only had the one, but had 3 nephews and a niece to fill the gap. Had my little brat out duck hunting when he was 4, fishing well before then. Great to see a Dad and Mom getting their kids into the outdoors and teaching life-long skills!

Yeah I hear you mate. Last Fraser video I did I got in trouble for not calling it K’gari and this one I’m getting it for calling it that! Hard to get it right these days. It’s always been Fraser as long as I’ve known it
