That spot in Tahlequa is awesome, you lucked out John in the summer I wouldn’t be anywhere near that section. I grew up on the upper section of the Illinois just across the Arkansas border. The big smallies are up in that area and is way less fished. Good video bud!

That's awesome you and Brian finally hooked up. I was hoping it would happen. I live in S.E. Ohio on the Muskingum River and have fished many of the places Brian has but with far less results but always fun. I sub to both of your channels for a couple years now and you 2 are the only "Creek Freaks" i sub to. I watch others but the content isnt the same. I always look forward to the next videos. John, that was absolutely an awesome slow-mo release shot. A big congrats to Brian on his new p.b. at 20.5. What a tank! Thanks so much for what you both do. @thecreekcrawler I've been telling John about it for a couple of years. Was good to see you guys finally fish it. There is another creek up there that has excellent wade fishing. Might not catch that size of smallies but you can catch 30 to 40 in a few hours. Any time you want to hang out and fish up there, just hollar.

You should add some balsa wood square bills to the river box.

I been waiting for this collab!!! And it didn’t disappoint!!! Way to find the BIGS in the river!!!!

You two guys made my evening with your videos posting the same day. I watched Creek Crawler's first though. Most excellent!

NO WAY MAN! You were in my town & I didn’t even know! Next time you’re back this way, I’d love to show you my favorite spots on the Illinois. That stretch you did is one of my favorites when I’ve only got a couple hours to fish. That fast current where the power lines run usually hold a good-sized smallie. I’m so glad you had a good time on the Illinois! God bless!

Next time your in the area you should try and float the section after the Nohead hollow public access area. We were getting bit everywhere there was a combination of cover, current (but not too fast), and deeper water.

John, now you have to come to the buckeye state and do some fishing with the creek crawler!!

Does anyone know the type of bird making the sound @5:22 - @5:40? I live in OKC and have one that makes that sound around my back yard but it's so hard to figure out where it's coming from to see it and start looking at pictures.

If you are ever in the area again hit up Baron fork creek. There is a public spot right off the bridge on welling road. It's an even clearer creek that runs into the Illinois right before tenkiller lake. about 20-30 minutes from where you guys are at. They always seem to be biting there!

Went there about 3 weeks ago. Water was wayyyy down, didn’t have much luck. If you’re willing to walk and wade it might be good but anywhere near the bridge was pretty slow for me.

There’s really no one on the river this time of year. I just went a couple weeks ago and saw 2 people in a 22 mile float. Put in at No Head Hollow.
