Giant Redwoods in Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve in 4K

I love this park so much. It's great to walk through it any time of the year. You only have to pay $10 for parking and that's it. It's not too far from San Francisco and 90% less crowded than Muir Woods.
The serene, majestic beauty of this Grove is a living reminder of the magnificent primeval redwood forest that covered much of this area before logging operations began during the 19th century. Armstrong Redwoods preserves stately and majestic Sequoia sempervirens, commonly known as the coast redwood. These trees stand together as a testament to the wonders of the natural world. The grove offers solace from the hustle and bustle of daily life, offering the onlooker great inspiration and a place for quiet reflection.
The ancient coast redwood is the tallest living thing on our planet! These remarkable trees live to be 500-1,000 years old, grow to a diameter of 12-16 feet, and stand from 200-250 feet tall. Some trees survive for over 2,000 years and tower above 350 feet. Coast redwoods are classified as temperate rainforests and need wet and mild climates to survive. The rainfall in Armstrong Redwoods averages 55 inches per year and the trees are often shrouded in a mystical fog that helps to maintain the moist conditions needed for the redwoods to survive.

Enjoyed watching your vid! I have happy memories of my hubby and I taking day hikes up to bullfrog pond ... there is (or was) a path behind the restrooms (parking area in front) we'd go on and though sometimes a little steep(for me!) it was a fun way to explore the big trees and other views as you walk higher above the regular area where most folks are. That was pre-Tubbs fires and etc, and before hubby was diagnosed of Lou Gerhig's. Our hikes stopped as his mobility lessened. We always brought snacks and water-it can become a hot day suddenly! (Summer and into October) But Iam so glad we walked there alot, when we did. Its so calming in the forest❤ .... My son and friends are out there today(Labor Day), I am so happy they are! He'd hiked with us sometimes - he has happy memories too, of those adventures!🙂 We lost my hubby in 2021, but its peaceful thinking of the trees we walked under, are still a calm for people having their own walks and adventures now~ Thank you for your vid!

April, I'm so sorry to hear you lost your hubby. He sounds like a cool guy. I discovered this place about 25 years ago and fell in love. Thanks for sharing your memories with us. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.

@@Bayareaandbeyond777 Thank you, its step at a time without him(married 33 yrs), but he is in our hearts❤️~ Yes, I was born here in Sonoma County, so went to Armstrong alot growing up-but enjoyed exploring it more later with my hubby! He was from Louisiana, and always appreciated our hills and mountains here in CA, let alone the huge trees! (NOLA is pretty flat-ish, though has its charm too, as I discovered over the yrs visiting my In-Laws😊) Take care, I look forward to discovering your other videos!

Yes, there are places along the path to sit. At the end of the path, there are picnic tables. You can also drive to the picnic table.
