GIANT MUD CRABS | Full Pots BIG CRABS
This week I show a few highlights of the brilliant crabbing over the past few months. A year of good rainfall has definitely contributed to consistent catches of mud crabs. Hope you enjoy revisiting these trips!

A crab pot full of big muddies sure is a good thing!👍
The creeks and flats have certainly offered up a bounty of good quality crabs this year. May they continue to, with a little thoughtfulness from all. Look forward to seeing you on your next adventure.✨

There are plenty of positive signs the environment is healthy. Good numbers of quality fish and crabs. The most promising sign is the variety and number of juvenile species present. Thanks for your comment!👍

There sure were some great feeds of mud crabs. Glad you enjoyed watching!👍
gday mate certainly some good crabs there and some good feeds , in my time in townsville 7 years only ever had one feed of mud crabs used to stop at a shop on the way back from the strand where you could buy cooked or fresh prawns and get a feed of prawns cant remember the names of roads 30 years ago now .

Crabbing can definitely be a fruitless activity. A prolonged wet season in this area has certainly been an added bonus. Good to hear you supported the local seafood outlet during your years in the region!😉Take care!👍

The crabs were definitely good quality! These crabs were caught over a few trips in the past months. I am mindful of where I set the pots to try to minimise interference from crocodiles. Doesn’t always turn out this way! Thanks for watching!👍
Is there any particular string that you like to use for your tying of the crabs? SO what no feed this time? LOL good to see you back on the water again Cheers Garry

I don’t use any special type of string for tying the crabs. As long at it doesn’t snap it will do me!😉 Thanks for your question and support!👍

@@returnoutdoors2210 How are your dillies holding up, dam they copped a flogging the other day with how many Crabs you put through them? Good to see you smashing out the quality Content as usual, how often do you get out a month and is winter ok up there for your crabs or is it noticeable the difference in summer to winter? Cheers Garry

I am always doing a few repairs to the pots. I try to go fishing or crabbing at least once a week, weather and tides permitting. The crabs have remained active this year during the cooler months but this isn’t usually the case. As a rule when the last of the rains disappear at the start of the dry season the crabs thin out. Cheers!👍

The Townsville region has limitless locations to catch mud crabs. A crab pot in any of our local rivers is a good chance of catching a big mud crab. Thanks for your question!👍

Just a quick question, how often do you see salt water crocodiles.
@returnoutdoors2210

During the cooler months it is a regular occurrence to see saltwater crocodiles. I avoid where possible fishing and crabbing where I see a resident croc. Thanks for your question!👍

@@returnoutdoors2210 thanks for the info I thought that they would be more active in the summer months but on second thought they probably migrate down the coast to get out of the cold
