I watch a bird
far afield above the lake
just poising in the headwind, static
mute like a fake
A clear white brushstroke
on the canvas of the sky
I cannot look away
so I keep watching astonished, wide-eyed
I still feed on that dream
cut off two blades from the reed
and push them deep into my ears
Beyond the lake
out of my reach
deep colors brew up, keep me steady
I step into the breach
I wish I could brush all
the dirt off my face
leave my doubts in the dust
find a way to ride out these days
I still feed on that dream
cut off two blades from the reed
and push them deep into my ears
All sound dies away
the murmur fades into the fray
the birds won’t sing anymore
and a chasm yawned
where a tower would stand
Believe me when I say
I wish you all the best
all of me is eager now
to find a little rest
Before you tell me
give me that one last dance
I’ve tried so hard so many times
but for now it’s off my hands
I still feed on that dream
cut off two blades from the reed
and push them deep into my ears
All sound dies away
the murmur fades into the fray
the birds won’t sing anymore
and a chasm yawned
where a tower would stand
My hands

Ausgezeichnet! Vocals give feathery memories of The Moody Blues...

That must be so cool. Is he still a “fun/normal?” person to be around? Like the music.

Some Billy Idol vibes in the vocals now and then. Nice song.
I love it. Great sound and vocals, in between country and rock.

いつか日本に来てほしい!
All that touring Wovenhand and Slim Cessna's have done in Europe is paying off! The Denver sound no longer belongs exclusively to the Mile High City.
I love this band.
This feels traditional and comfortably familiar in the pulsing rhythm. The melodic elements dancing through the pulsing beat hold onto the roots of this music while bringinging a new swing to the backbeat. I agree with the prior post, which refers to the blendung of elements to create a breath of fresh air that feels as familiar as an old favorite pair of shoes. Keep it coming,,,, can't wait to hear what's next. I had to come back to add an observation I was captured by on my initial listening but wasnt articulated prior. That being the amazing vocal quality. Genuine heartfelt song bursting forth with raw emotion and powerful articulate delivery. In much of current "trending" music, there is anti-singing, talk-singing, sometimes presenting a mediocre vocal talant. Maybe its the appeal of people whose abilities are more like the audience members rather than the unique creme de la creme, ultra rare super talent of the likes of Barbra Steisand, Mariah Carey or Whitney. Its similar to what causes superstardom for bands like Green Day. But then I find this.... real music, genuine singing talent and skill artfully applied. It's a welcome evolution in the ever changing spectra of artful expression.
