Giacci's First 1966 R600 American Mack
Mario Giacci's first 1966 R600 American Mack returns home after 55 years.
This 1966 Mack R600 "Flintstone" was purchased new from the factory in Allentown, USA, with the paperwork from the Mack factory issued directly to "Giacci Bro's."
This truck was delivered from Allentown, Pennsylvania, USA, to Australia in 1968 via ship, where the family company Giacci took ownership.
Before commencing work, the R600 Mack was branded with the original Giacci green, white & black colour scheme.
We determined this was Mario Giacci's first truck (truck no.5) he drove every day by the Bullbar design as this was something he fabricated with his own hands.
As the business grew, Mario's R600 Mack was eventually sold off to make way for newer and more efficient gear.
Over the next 40 years, this truck passed through many owners within Australia.
This truck had all the potential to be restored by the previous owners however, that was not the case.
We did not find this truck, this truck found us, and after 55 years, we would like to welcome our girl home.
We want to thank the team at City Panel beater Truck Repairs for taking on this project for the family, and we are all excited to see the finished product.
Feel free to share your memories and stories surrounding the early Giacci days and truck no.5 for a chance to be featured in the documentary film that will be produced surrounding this project.
