What's kinda funny, when I was a kid I never liked how the Lady Jaye figure had a hat on because she never wore a hat on the show.. when I picked up the classified version, (first release) I didn't notice till I opened it that the hat option wasn't in the package. It's like some unknown force was following me thru my life and said, "you don't like the hat, then u ain't getting the hat"

Retro Classified, Love the stands, like the OG look, better face sculpts. Classified has more accessories, better storage, I can get behind some of the new aesthetic. I think a Mix is good. The better face sculpts is more a product of improving on previous releases. Classified should include a stand for each figure. McFarlane does it.

I agree they should come with stands, but I use so few stands that I don’t even care. I have so many I don’t even know what to do with them all.

I got both of them for $9.99 each. I used the hair and accessories from the original with the retro card figure. Looks awesome. Or you could simply do a head swap. I like the brighter green. Pops more on the shelf

Thanks for this review. Lady Jaye is the one figure from this set that I didn’t order and now I’m second-guessing that because of the more vibrant colors on her uniform and paint apps on her face. I really like the way this Jaye looks with the hair from the main line figure. I prefer all the accessories from the first, but the body of this one. Hmm. Might have to mix and match.

The colors are more vibrant on the retro, but I still like the 1st one better. The face is definitely better on the retro figure, but I can't justify spending another $25 just for a new head with better paint. 🤷‍♂️

Great video Lawrence. I agree with you on all the points you brought up, except this figure is not worth the price. I picked one up today in the Walmart clearance aisle for $5.00 I would have prefereed the Baroness, but there were none to be had.

Well I’m not gonna lie, I did this review almost 2 years ago so it’s hard to remember all the points I made. As for price, since they sent me one for free for no reason and she’s going for $5 now, can’t say she was worth the price 😂

I have all the retros ordered but I am also glad they are coming to an end, especially since they are exclusive to Walmart.

Well. If you upscale it to 1/12th scale, the package size makes sense. Imagine if the did the same to the vintage o-ring. It would be the same size as well.

I like the first version. Double jointed elbows. Excellent face design and look.😛👍

If anybody is having trouble swapping the heads, mine was loose, just swap the whole neck from the neck ball joint. It works perfect. My view is when you do the head/neck swap and combine all the gear the results are nice. Of course they could have done it from the get go.

Walmart marked them down to $4.97. I have couple of the first edition that i kit-bashed. Getting a few of these on the cheap to make the ultimate kit-bash and use with some spare Marvel Legends heads I have.

I got the retro lady jay for $6 on clearance and I took her and the classifieds lady jay and kit based them together and got one awesome lady jay she’s got two different back packs ,3 spears , 2 different hats ,hair camera knife…,….I wish all the classified came with a stand like the retros do …I would pay another dollar a fig for a stand

I buy two of each figure one to keep in the box one to display out of the box. I have received hung-ho and Destro. All 4 folded in half not one good enough as a collectible. Then you just rip you figure out of the packaging like nothing. You animal!!! Thanks. For the video and sharing your experience.

Haha well normally I cut around the plastic and remove the bubble and keep the card, but it was messed up so bad who cares 😂

To call the first issue Classified Lady J a pegwarmer is to undersell it (even more than the figure undersold). It was the only mainline (non Snake Eyes Movie) Classified figure that landed at Ollie's.

I just got her and her face and make up is identical to french newscaster Melissa Theuriau in her prime. Really looks like her.

Really wish they did Baroness with all that sweet articulation. Scarlet too for that matter.

they definitely have less paint apps than they did at the beginning of the line. they are painting the knifes and small things on the weapons but overall the figures have a lot less paint. also I don't know if reusing the same mold a second or third time with less paint apps really seems like they have more money than they did starting out.

They’re not using less paint on the Classified series, they may be on some things on this Retro line. The way reusing figures gives them more money is going forward. All the figures we are seeing right now are made from the budget of at least a year ago. So they are able to repaint figures and fit it into a budget to sell more to make the budget for next year. If they constantly did brand new molds for every figure we would get a lot less during the year.

@@Apunkwithtoys compare Stalker to Duke. They are using a lot less pain in general and NECA gives us new molds on every single figure all most and it doesn't stop how many they produce in a year. Hasbro are just cheap and that's the bottom line. We both think different things but that is just my opinion

You think the cards are bad you should see ML animated VHS boxes, especially Mr. Sinister. Way to big, bigger then VHS boxes and plenty of room in boxes

I got all 4 with 2 duplicates yesterday and today. I wanted keep these unopened and have an extra Gung ho and Destro to open. For me, they came in individual bubble envelopes, so all of them have some bending of the card. One of the Destro’s, the card was completely mangled. One of the Gung Ho’s, the plastic was cracked open near the feet.

@@Apunkwithtoys sold out way to quick in pulse. I did try to get them there first as well. Hasbro should hold Walmart accountable to the exclusives sold through them. Have a game plan for packaging and shipping since 30% of the figure was the card back look.

I believe we will be getting her and Duke like that eventually. Going back and doing the Snake Eyes really tells me that we will be seeing all the OG figures in their original looks.

I prefer the classified. But wish classified had stands.

The Lady Jaye series was announced awhile back, before the Snake Eyes Movie, but I’m not sure if it’s still happening. I’ll admit the Lady Jaye repaint was a bit odd but here is what people have to understand, GI Joe has a budget. Remember Hasbro is a billion dollar company but GI Joe is now a billion dollar brand. My guess is they offered Walmart an exclusive, like MOTU Origins when it started and just went with a mold they just finished using and painted it to be closer to her O-Ring colors. Doing this helps to make more figures while keeping them in their budget. Now by people buying all these repaints it helps grow the budget which I believe we are seeing in the new reviles coming in 2023.

Retro looks way better. Put the short hair on that one. That’s how she’s supposed to look

If you’re an inbox collector the best way to get figures from Hasbro is go directly through Hasbro Pulse, you won’t have issues like this.

The retro lady jay has makeup on her face and the classified dose not I put the retro jays head on the classifieds body

Well some Classified figures is the worth to replace them for the Retro Classified like Gung-Ho and the new Scarlett and Duke that is comeing out this year but overal i like the original Classified more, and my rules are they don't have to look 100% accurate to the cartoon version, but if they come close to 70/80% to the cartoon version then i'm happy, and Lady Jay is not much of a different to replace her for this Retro Classified version. and further i don't care much for the stands. they only usefull when a figure has a hard time to stand on their own.

@@Apunkwithtoys That's right, Classified was never really meant to look cartoon accurate, but as with Lady Jaye, I don't think the first Classified Lady Jaye and the Retro Lady Jaye seem different enough to replace the first Lady Jaye with the Retro, but Hasbro and the fans are now seeing more that the Classified are now identifying more with the cartoon, But they will certainly never be 100% accurate.

Got Gun Ho & Zartan passing on Lady J and Destro not a lot of difference between them. Plus you lose accessories with Lady J.

Yeah I don't have any interest in these figures either unless they are drastically different from classified. And the packaging doesn't look much bigger than the MOTU origins package

Gung Ho is the only one that’s really different in my opinion. Check my Instagram, I put a better pic showing the difference.

The darker Vreen Colored Lady Jaye looks WAAAAY better!!.. why are you guys so into the lighter Green colored Lady J when she looks so cartoonish?..

I decided to stick with Classifieds and not buy the Super7, GI Joe, Ultimates, because they are $55 each. But with Classified I spent $65 so far on 3 Destros, spent $85 on 4 Roadblocks until they finally got it right, $60 on 3 Scarlettes and they still haven't gotten her right. $45 on 2 Gung Ho's and so on. This Classified line is really getting expensive and half of it is crap. Hopefully moving forward we get figures that look closer to the original O ring figures.

Well it’s clear that when they started the Classified line they were basing it off the video game they had coming but people complained they didn’t want that, so they changed to be more ARAH. I think we will be seeing that more with only a little bit of other Joe lines added in. I didn’t buy the field variants as they were just repaints, not another figure in the line.

you think the Joe communicator is cool? I wish they would quit putting it on the figures and I personally think it ruins them

I’m fine with it, remember GI Joe is supposed to be a little futuristic. I hear certain people complaining how the weapons aren’t exactly realistic to the real weapons. I’m not collecting GI Joe to have a 2022 perfect military looking figure.

The lady Jane figure is the worst figure the line.

No. But Walmart needed a way to sell cheaper Joes. Thus this awful retro card line of poorly painted figures with less accessories.
