Looking at it I imagine that tower is just a periscope-like extension from a larger base or vehicle beneath the ice. Cool idea for a simple but atmospheric addition to the Cobra forces!

Love this, My grandson was given a small suitcase full of action figures not just G.I. Joe's but the knock-off from like Dollar Tree, Dollar General and "Military" figures from Wal- mart too so I'm going to build him a homemade for his play room with both "good guy" and "bad guy" bases but I'm basically like a post apocalyptic bases, like the war between G.I. Joe and Cobra is over, they destroyed each other and they joined forces with their lesser known counterparts and combined into 1 group to keep fighting.

Really you could make one for any terrain. Camouflage it and it fits in a woodland playscape. Great job!

Yeah absolutely. I was thinking of giving it attach points. Sort of hint that is was prefab and it could be airlifted to where ever in the world it was needed. Then camoed up to match the terrain like you suggest. I think your comment has sparked a new project! Thanks for the comment and for watching.

@@ActionRobotPunch I'm envisioning it to be more of an entry point to and underground facility much like the sheild generator bunker in ROTJ. I like your idea of a small portable unit that can be dropped in different environments and be used for outposts or communications.

Absolutely. The rounded form is very sci-fi but Cobra has always been on the sci-fi side in my opinion so it works for them. I'm not sure I could use the same parts for a Gi Joe type base. This is an excellent build. The coffee ring to fix the curvature of the top section is ingenious. This is something I've tried to fix many times less elegantly and less successfully. Good advice about the asymmetry of detail and shape composition, as well. If you'll permit me to make a few suggestions from my experience creating structures for tabletop wargames, I would fill in the gaps on the side of the light/sensor above the door and the angle brackets around the circular rim using either thin plasticard cut to shape, chipboard, or for smaller gaps, just fill it in with sculpting putty. Once the base coat is dry, you can bring out the details, especially on the machinery and access panels, by hitting it with a wash of very watered-down paint. White can be difficult to wash without making it look gray, but if you use the right shade and limit your application to the areas you want to accentuate it will work. And you can always drybrush over the sections that are too dark. Finally, you can get a more controlled application of weathering by speckling the darker paint on with a sponge.

As we mature as a people, I enjoy the fact that machismo is dying year by year. In regards to GI Joe you'll understand what I mean momentarily. My Dad always wanted to make dioramas of his small Army models. He didn't because he was Mr. Macho, semi pro weight lifter. As a late Gen Xer, (born in 1980), I've noticed many late Xers (b.76-82) are more likely to collect, Play with, modify, enjoy attributes of their childhood. Ie; Gi Joe, Transformers, Old gaming systems. 30 yrs ago this was impossible as the pressure to be a manly man was on 24/7. I collected Joes fall of 1985 till summer of 1991. I felt pressure than to become more involved in Sport and females. BUT deep down I would have kept playing with joes into 1992-93. As I was beginning Jr high. I started a new collection from scratch 4 weeks ago. I have 38 figures on hand and 16 in transit (get here soon!!! :) Lol ) and I ordered vehicles as well. Just like many many later Xers I also had children late. I'm 40, going on 41 in 2 days, and my oldest is 3 And youngest is 2.. I love playing action figures with my oldest. It's great!!
