Welcome to episode 172 of the Commander's Guild: "Ping Pong" Every week I go to scryfall.com and randomly select a card, making a budget (under $100) commander deck around it and showcasing a gameplay video of the deck. This week I'm joined by Doodle, Luke, and Richard.
This week's random card is Ghyrson Starn, Kelermorph and he's also the commander. Pingers are popular cards in Magic but often ineffective at ending a game of commander when they're only doing 1 damage. However, if we crank that up to 3 then the game should end much quicker. Right?
If you have suggestions for any future deck ideas (or want to request a specific card to build around), let me know in the comments. Hope you enjoy it!

Some clarification on my deck. It is only ramp at 4 and everything else is 6 plus mana. Also first deck that i have built in awhile where i exclusively did cards i had.

I think it performed really well though! It was a fun deck to play against.

It plays surprisingly well considering it’s full of random ping effects. If you put it together let me know how it works out!

@@DungeonLearnersGuide I shall. Luckily I probably won't have the same feels bad effect as you due to being the player in my pods who likes to sit in the corner causing issues (don't worry my pods have admitted to enjoying it as well)

@TheDevonshireMint I get it. My usual role in the pod is “guy who stops everyone else from winning but doesn’t actually win”

Is this a beginner friendly deck? I've been looking at a bunch of decks to try and build for my first

I think so! All of the cards are simple to understand, the tricky part is just remembering to track your creatures’ abilities and the math of going from 1 to 3 damage.
