Yea but the truly random recoil spread makes it that much harder to handle the recoil rapid fire brings

Its 2023 and I came back to watch Driftor videos at 2am. I miss these days so much. Got the pleasure to play with driftor back in the day on mw3. What id do to go back to those times..

I agree I don't think this gun is insanely op or anything, but for those who do think it's op the best way to nerf it imo would be to change the movement speed from smg to assault rifle. it wouldn't be an insane nerf and just make the gun terrible, but it would be good enough so that you don't get the benefit of stalker and agility without actually running stalker and agility.

How is this not pay to win? It's an incredibly fast killing SMG with no recoil and is able to be switched to AR mode for medium range engagements -- with in-built stalker. There are no downsides to it. Overpowered.

hell yes it is op it kills so quick I could have almost sworn it killed in two bullets, this thing constantly outguns the mtar-x at close range which is understandable, but he fact you can instantly turn it into and assault riffle and outgun the mtarx at mid to png ranges as well is ridiculous.

I get outgunned by a honey badger regardless of what mode I use it in and vise versa when I use any weapon against the Ripper. Not OP really.

The SMG RF RoF isn't the same as not RF on purpose. It's the same rounding error you get with the CBJ-MS. I bet you will see the difference when you'll test this on the PC version.

Probably my favourite gun in COD history (with Muzzle Break and Extended Mags) tied with the MTAR-X (Rapid Fire and Foregrip). Some of the guns in Ghosts were just fantastic.

I thought that i was the only one. This weapon is legendary i love it, i played Cod bo2 bo3 bo4 WW2 and the new MW and i never found a weapon that complimented my playstyle and made me fall in love like this one. I never get tired of it, i hope it gets added to COD 2022

I like how the sights switch when switching modes, looks cool :)

This gun is a rushers wet dream gun. It's my favorite SMG and favorite AR. There isn't a better gun from either class than the Ripper. The benefits of stalker built in with SMG speed on AR makes this awesome! Next DLC will be a LMG+Sniper combo gun that will destroy others for non-rushers.

if I had to pick guns to model, I would like the BO1 Stoner that was updated w/ tracker/optic sights that flipped from auto to semi with scope. was never a big fan of the AUG scope. of course the Stoner was 3arc :( I really qish they would abandon this alternating release schedule and make online subscription with everything ever released.

So for getting the season pass you essentially get a gun shooting at 3-5 shots to kill at a rate of fire of 900 and 600 when other SMGs like the bizon,CBJ, and K7 shoot at the same ROF but with one to two less shots to kill and the vector and Mtar have a less ROF. The smg version also has good sights, good everything but hey guess what we've got a rifle version too and it's switchable on the fly. And with it you get a rifle having a bigger mag size than normal, better hip fire than normal, better running speed than normal, better ADS speed than normal, better sprint speed and distance than normal, and all that delicious spaghetti with a free optic free of charge on your choices of course. All you need to do is add rapid fire which is not in the list for rifles and is unaddable and get a 65-0 gameplay no problemo and why do you get all of this? because you paid for the season pass. And not to mention having a 0.23 second aim time it's like you got quickdraw for free and the quicker movement while aiming is also free, like stalker, and the running speed is like agility, which is also free, and you get better running distance with it which is like mini marathon. Yeeeeaaaaahhhhh pretty op.

Ashton Davenport well the bizon has the same range and shots to kill and the k7 has about the same range for three shot kill, the minimum is just less, and he said fire rates not time to kill

It looks like something out of Warframe.

***** Shotgun "bitches"? Unless you're using the Bulldog using a shotgun in Ghost requires wayy more skill than any other weapon in the game (other than riot shield and cb knife of course). Run and gunning in Ghost is the hardest its been in any cod before..

okay but it has small mag. size so using rapid will drain the bullets quick &I will have to reload much than the MTAR & most of people including me use the second perk for a silencer...

the only bad thing about the gun is its slow reload time which is easily solved by sleight of hand

i think that instead of what everybody else thinks (double mag, second barrel etc.), you're just lengthening the barrel when you the grip forward to extend gun into AR mode. The longer barrel means your bullet spread is tightened and lowered (even lower if accounting for the slower rate of fire) and also accounts for the same damage (bullets to kill). it could also increase bullet velocity again adding to the extra range

Stu Pidface Well the Peacekeeper was perfect, because it wasn't a weapon you would have so many advantages over normal weapons. The Ripper can easily beat AR's and SMG's when used right. I'm not so sure about the Maverick, but I think it's just fine, because you can't change from AR to Sniper in one click.

I think you misheard me. I did not say it was "4 to 5" but "45". I cannot directly test for base damage because Ghosts has no health settings and unknown multipliers for each gun. It could deal between 49-34 damage per shot up close and I have no way to 100% for sure test it. I said I "personally assume 45 damage" based on how it handles. This was added in for the curious. It is just speculation on my part. However, shots to kill are not. Those were tested :)

i feel like if you were to run it with rapid fire, grip, and a muzzel break with stalker, focus, steady aim, ready up, dead silence, amplify etc, mixing smg and ar perks with a maximized dps in ar mods to buff its relatively slower ar TTK, you'd outpreform everything all the time... i mean its clearly a top tier smg is not THE best smg, while in ar mode its smg ads, mobility, and hipfire paired with rapid fire (which isnt available for other ars) and a muzzel break makes it sound like it would out TTK ars like the R5 and ak-12... those strengths paired with the fact that you can swap between them instantly basically makes it a lower recoil bizon at close range and a faster firing ak-12 at long range... ok lol hello pay to win

I wish they could have a weapon build like this, but the lack of buffer tube in the back makes it a bit complicated. *real life problems at its finest* That's why even on real life bullpup weapons there still is room in the stock in the back for a buffer tube. So they would need to find a way to make a springless action in the rear. Not sure how they could achieve that.

Am i the only one to think that Maverick and Ripper's fire sound is pretty loud ? Even with suppressor ? When i'm running i can hear enemies using Mavericks and Rippers so i know where they are without even watching the minimap. =)

yep they are very loud indeed even supressed,but not much of a problem since so many players use Headset's and the AMP perk that they will hear even the most silent of guns and we still get the benefit of not apearing on radar

Yea problably, i don't know if i ever had been killed by someone who heard me using Silenced Maverick, but these 2 guns are definitly louder than other weapons, i think they did this to not make over-overpowered guns, they are still beasts even w/ suppressor at medium/long range.

i never noticed with the maverick but yea the ripper seems loud as hell even with the silencer. that's a good thing though, considering this gun is already a little too good.

Looks like this will be my staple primary when I jump back on to Ghosts. Been awhile since I've played.

High damage. Fast ROF. Low rocoil. Great hip fire. Its OP. It makes all other SMGs besides the K7 and MTarX pointless. (I will say the AR mode does suck.) From experience, im frustrated that their is no point to use most of the other SMGs. I mean, why use the CBJ or Bizon if this gun has more damage, less recoil, Better range for only being a hair slower? Bottom line, its OP and needs a Lower ROF or lower damage.

I use the gun all the time. It feels too good. I have tried using the other SMGs to see if they still held up and they dont. Only the MTarX does as it has the best range.

I've done testing and I've confirmed based on deadeye calculations that the damage at range is 24 and in close range is most likely 35-40 dropping at just 10 meters and in ar at about 17. 4 shot kill range in ar mode is very strong and long enough that you won't need 5 shots very much or else your engaging in the wrong gun battles. Deadeye is somewhat useful completely getting rid of the 5 shot kill and only getting 4 shots. Note that this is only if you get at least 1 deadeye hit.

I really don't like the way COD is "forcing" people to buy the season pack to compete with other players. Witch sucks for the PS3/4 system, as even though they said xbox and ps would release dlc together after the contract ended still have a month between releases.

Drift0r regardless of you not having 100% accurate stats (at least in a numeric sense) I really want to thank you for putting this video up. I had a TON of questions about this weapon and you answered all of them.

Hey Drift0r, can you re-review the Honey Badger with its Thermal Scope and Single Fire attachments? I find it interesting as the Single Fire, which increases the accuracy and max range damage of the weapon, can also kill with 1 shot at an incredible distance (the entirety of the Stonehaven Map), with the use of Thermal Scope.

An AR that basically has quickdraw and stalker built in is pretty OP to me. Giving you a gun that can basically switch from a Bizon to an SA-805 in milliseconds is probably OP in and of itself. People bitched that the Honey Badger was OP for getting a silencer automatically, this gun makes those claims look silly by comparison. Hopefully they don't nerf it since they need to spend more time on making maps than more nerfs. They really made the MSBS a useless gun post-nerf. I hate to see that happen.

I agree that fast ads and stalk speed built in is powerful, but the AR rate of fire is only 600, so it's like getting a r5 rgp with way less range, and a bit less rof, not like getting a sa-805. I think that without rapid fire the AR part is actually a bit weak.

I agree. The sad thing is the game just gets sillier. The kills take less time and the perks are all about getting the game running at breakneck speed all the time. It doesn't flow like it used to. The last decent cod was mw2 ...and yes even that wasn't perfect but compared to ghosts it was epic. COD is now basically point and click. I enjoy it sometimes but you can no longer play it casually it is too fast.

Because it's more of a "Thank you for buying our Season Pass last year when it mattered, you get to use this gun a little early." Generally if you want to bait someone into buying your shit, you make a strong effort to advertise the benefits before the benefit takes place, because as I said, we barely even have to wait a month to buy it for $15 instead of $50-60 lol

So for the whole episode you talk about how beast the gun is. Basically its an AR with several benefits of an SMG. Its only downfall is a slow reload time. You call it a top tier weapon and then say its not OP. For things to be balanced there cant be top tier weapons. If there are top tier weapons then there are bottom tier weapons and mid tier weapons. Wouldn't top tier weapons be considered overpowered over the others? If not then why are they top tier?

Because in Call of Duty: Ghosts, weapons can be easily classified into Tiers due to the long maps and the massive differences in every gun. a game can be balanced and have different tier guns. the only reason a top tier gun isn't overpowered is because there are other top tier guns to compete with it. a balanced game shouldn't make every gun equally good. there will be niche guns that only preform good in very specific scenarios, but since their performance is limited to a certain range they wouldn't be considered 'top'. ultimately, some guns are just crap and some are simply better. the only way to get an OP gun would be to have one that simply out preforms every other gun in the game, INCLUDING every top tier gun. i don't even play ghosts but this should be evident throughout all FPS games.

I don't think you know what overpowered means. Overpowered is not the same as good. OP =/= best gun. "Over-powered" means that the strength of the gun literally overwhelms everything else beyond comparison. Few CoD games have had truly OP guns but there have been a few. A gun can be good, better than others, or the best gun in the game and still not be over powered.

Drift0r A gun is measured by the availability of viable alternatives. If this weapon turns out to do the same as other ARs/SMGs, just better, it is overpowered. So, is there a reason not to pick this weapon over the Bizon, or any other SMG for the matter?

Ugh... dlc used to be because the game creators didn't finish the maps when the game was released... no its just a way to make more and more money...

Not only is the Ripper absolutely jacked in-game, but it can definitely have some real life scenarios. They could definitely be fielded for special forces and special operations units that need to cover any and all oppositions at any and all ranges, but don't want to risk carrying too vast or heavy of a loadout. It's simple: SMG configuration for close range engagements, AR configuration for mid-to-long range engagements.

not gonna lie, this made me get rid of the game. So many DLC weapons, almost outclassing the normal vanilla weapons.

***** maverick sniper is op as hell lol. I don't get it, they always bring a 1 shot kill machine back into the game with a high rate of fire. the ripper is like the mp7 in recoil and rpm. aka op.

Something I noticed about the AR sight is that since it's so big, there's a lot of glare on it. I've had instances where I just couldn't see anything because of the glare.

When Titanfall comes out nobody will give a shit about Ghost!!!!!!

Yes they will. Remember how Bf3 was suppose to kill Mw3? Or Bf4 was suppose to crush ghosts? Ghosts and Titanfall are both FPS, but since Titanfall isn't as fast paced as cod whatsoever, people will still want to get back on it. Not to mention Titanfall isn't going to be on Playstation and PS4 is the #1 console for ghosts currently. So yes, people will still give a shit. Xbox ghosts is going to take a hit on their player count, but it will recover when the initial Titanfall surge is over which happens with every major release. I myself am getting Titanfall and I'll play ghosts. They are two very different games.

Probably just me, but the game audio felt like it wanted to overlap Driftor's voice. I could hear, but I could hear a bit of both on the same level. Overall great video and great review :D

Indeed, other vids of him are more balanced (his voice is clearer/louder than the game's sound effects).

I have season pass. But this is bullshit. They made this gun one of the best guns in game but ghost sales are so bad they want people to buy dlc to get the gun. I for one am waiting for titanfall because I want infinity ward to feel the pain for making such a shitty cod. I hope sledgehammer revives this series cuz I love cod. I just don't like ghost

The gun is total BS it should be available to every one who bought the game not just season pass buyers or it should only be available for use when playing on season pass maps.

What if you put a red dot? What mode is it in? What about the sight that you can switch into zoom? Does it switch modes?

So OP. Every server/game I join now on Ghosts now contains all tryhards using the Ripper, going around, kill greedy.

The ripper is a bullshit weapon. It is the game devs giving special treatment to people that are willing to buy the season pass and leaving everyone else at a disadvantage until they too go out and buy the season pass. This is why I am done with CoD. It's just a shit game.

I am not sure if you can get it in multiplayer without the DLC, but you can get it without the DLC at Random from an ammo crate in local play (you vs bots) if you are lucky and you can also get the Maverick from a ammo crate.

A beast weapon, has improved my performance just after the first couple matches using it. Tho can see it being one of those weapons like the peacekeeper that everyone is gonna start using as it cost nothing to unlock when you start.

People with the season pass got early access to the Ripper, it will come out for people if they choose to buy the Devastation map pack. During my matches most players think that you can only get the weapon if you buy the season pass but it will come out next month with the new dlc.

I can tear people up with the Ripper set up with Muzzle Break, Foregrip, and Rapid fire while in AR mode. That and the Vector are by best performing guns.

I honestly miss this game
