I love how Punishing Gray Raven has so much trance music. It's a genre that isn't very common nowadays, so hearing it in a game is really cool.

It's sorta common in some scenes. Especially in some japanese rhythm games like Beatmania, Arcaea or Sound Voltex just to mention some. Although trance in japanese media mostly falls under the umbrella of J-Trance or Artcore. However, it's important to mention that artcore isn't always trance.

But in gacha games industry where usually they go with classic theme, or cultural, medieval, or modern theme etc., PGR has unique traits of using trance as its general consensus. Sure we have emotional music, trance opera, or a piece straight out of a vocal heaven, and there are some gacha games that occasionally use trances, but trance has always been PGR's forte.

You can also find a lot of trance used as Umineko's BGM. It's very damn crazy. Umineko's OST felt so different from anything else in that time because most of the BGM was trance and even some of the tracks were also used in games like Beatmania.

It’s funny because this some is used in some standard battles. I didn’t realize that it was all part of one big song for one of the bosses. That’s kinda cool

Hearing this theme makes you feel like peacefully drowning in the middle of the deep blue ocean.... Until a large aggressive creature appeared and removes all the waters, making it kinda similar to a round battle arena, and you have to fight that creature to death because there's nothing you could do to escape the ocean

That's.. literally her backstory, man.. Born as a crippled baby, almost stillborn, her mom died giving birth to her, raised by a Brotherhood of Steel-esque community, and sent outside to gather information with minimal cybernetic upgrades. It's a miracle that she survived until now as an Ascendant.. and this song is her plea to return home once again, only to be interrupted and kicked out forever..

@@prisuners6275 I believe the truth is different. They probably never intended for Lamia to gather information for them, it was purely to give her freedom knowing full well Atlantis will not survive. Lamia was also properly given the training and upgrades to make sure she can live on as long as possible. The scientists even acknowledged that they threw away any form of emotions they had before joining the team and interacting with Lamia reminds them of what they lost.
