Love all of you.

The greatness of this scene is that it emphasizes the undercurrents of unease about what was going to happen at the building. No one knew what was going on, but everyone WAS afraid of what might be coming. And the other thing that made it great, was ECTO-1 being surrounded and escorted by the police. It was like the Ghostbusters were finally being accepted and legitimized by the city, and that the city was in its own way supporting them because of what they stood for, and what they were about to do.

Too bad by the second movie they got sued into near oblivion by special interest groups for things out of their control. It took Ghostbusters 2 and the slime to finally get them back into the good graces of the city.

Takes me back to being a teenager in the 80's when I first saw the movie at the odeon ! Just like seeing rocky and we waited outside for hours in a queue to see a film ! Love retro and classic 80's movies and their soundtracks! 👍

The scene when Ecto-1 had the siren and lights on and hits the corner is such amazing filmmaking.

Man, this movie had such a massive impact on me as a kid. Still brings up the same feelings now. Crazy!

I imagine that's why I'm a fan of Ghostbusters and Batman, they always manage to give hope in chaos.

When the street opens and the Ghostbusters come out, I get goosebumps every time. Hollywood is having a difficult time capturing that feeling in their films today.

The underdogs always win in this movie, that's why it feels so good to watch Ghostbusters 2, it's like our saviors are back to save us all from evil and destruction.

I love seeing the classic 80's NYC police cars in this scene escorting Ecto 1. Such an epic scene

To me, this was the most badass "we are coming to kick ass" scene in the 1980's when I was a kid. Gives me goosebumps every time.

Notice how everyone's respective religion Catholic & Judaism alike has come together in this classic movie as the Ghostbusters save classic New York City from the Apocalypse. Best movie ever made.👏🏾👍🏾😎💜

It boggles my mind that the scene with the street coming apart is all a life-size set. That whole bit was an actual length of street that they built with hydraulics under the moving chunks. Amazing stuff!

I just noticed......@4:23 the way Ray is explaining the situation to Pete. Pete looks at him, then looks away. But the look on his face gives the impression he couldn't care less. His body language again @ 5:01......its like he couldn't give a damn, the look on his face. Was this just Pete's character, or was Bill Murray unhappy haha! EDIT: On doing some reading up, "One of the main stars of the film, the excellent Bill Murray, was unhappy with the finished film as he felt the effects had taken over and taken much of the emphasis away from the main characters."

I love both movies!. Omg its my childhood! i remember when i watch on tv in midle of 90s both ghosbusters and real ghostbuster (cartoon) and........ man i miss those days. New ghostbusters movie (with womens) its so bad!. I mean i understand they want make movie for new people who don t watch old parts but its realy bad for me as original ghosbusters fan.

I like that Peter in the first one was hamming it up to the crowd but in the 2nd one there’s a baby in danger and he’s all business. Maybe that’s just my head cannon lol

I always loved the characters, the music, just everything. But the thing that gives me the most nostalgia is the Echo-1's Siren. It's so Distinctive and Iconic that even in the escort with Police Cars or Ambulances you can still hear Echo-1. Am I the only one that thinks this?

As a kid, I used to love the Ecto 1A. But now as an adult, I notice how too flashy (lights, stickers, signs) it is compared to the Ecto 1. I now prefer the simpler Ecto 1. That's kind of the problem with Ghostbusters 2. It's too flashy compared to the simpler Ghostbusters 1.

Hearing ecto 1 siren with the music is perfect

Winston: "And we're the only ones that can do anything about it?" Ray: "You BET we are!" ....all the feels

I don't mean to be a party pooper, but that was most likely the National Guard, which in real life, get called in during times of extreme emergency (examples are natural disasters like torandos and floods, as well as giant riots where the police cannot handle it on their own) and judging by the events that take place during the "saving the day" seen, they made the right call in sending the National Guard in

also the military may need to support the ghostbusters in fighting esp if they have weird huge beings etc which might need tank fire etc, plus its the 80's when you have the armed forces assisting

I can’t think of many movies that are flawless, but this is one of them. It’s been called “lightning in a bottle”. Ghostbusters was an absolute phenomenon.

On Our Own might possibly be the best "to the rescue" track to play. i'm surprised no Football team ever came out to it.

Funny how attention spans have changed. Ghostbusters was my favourite movie growing up as a kid in the early 90s and I thought this montage was so cool because they had a police escort with the army. Then a police car on a hydraulic lift rolls down a slight hill. Coolest thing ever. Now you go to movies and see ginormous explosions and literally everything imaginable with CGI and I just yawn at it.

Uh, considering it involved his somewhat girlfriend and a kid he was obviously quite fond of, should anyone be surprised?

Do you feel a sense of dread in your basement or attic, have you ever seen a Spook, specter or ghost, if yes then don't wait another minute, call the ghostbusters, we will believe you.

80s gold so glad am a 80s kid .

Those scenes always charge me up! (Only real fans will get the reference) 😎

I'm not sure if it's in the actual song, but that vocal reverb effect at 0:33 with a shot of the dark clouds coming from the building kind of has this ominous undertone I always liked. The song is upbeat with everyone cheering, but that small moment subtley points out the danger they're heading into isn't to be underestimated.

Glad I found this comment hidden here, yes couldn't have said it better. It's a great shot and sound that shows the danger looming.

When I was a kid myself and my sisters had the Ghostbusters soundtrack on cassette tape we all must have listened to it hundreds of times.

The edit of the song that made it into the film was better than the original, it's got more energy.

I remember seeing this film as kids back then, we were enjoying it so much, such a brilliant movie.

God, do I miss this kind of entertainment! Funny how so much talent and care went into these 2 hour windows of imagination that the end results seem so effortless! Don't forget the mythos built around these worlds, as well. From the animated series, video games, fan fiction, even the 2016 version (hate on it if you must, but it's still sanctioned by Columbia Pictures.) We'll always have different opinions, but if a story is told right, we the viewers will always want to be engaged. Thank you, Harold Ramis for getting together with Dan Ackroyd and bringing this baby to life!🇵🇷🇺🇸😎

I swear, when that street came to life it was like, now do you believe in ghosts? What’s sad is the part 3 will pick up 30 years after the last ghost sighting so it will appear to many as a legend.

Those New Yorkers know only the Ghostbusters got s**t done

Cost 25-30 million to make. Made about 300 million at the box office. One of the biggest hits of 1984 and still has better special effects then anything made today in my opinion.

I remember being 6 years old when I saw this on TV . I was in TEARS after the ground swallows up the GB cause I thought they were dead . There was a commercial so my dad had to talk to me and convince me they were not defeated that easy ! My dad died 22 years ago and I miss him more every day .
