It's one of the few good games that iteration of Atari made (or licensed, whatever.)

something about these old low graphic video games with the sounds bring us back to a good time. We didn’t know the difference enjoying the graphics being so primitive yet magical in many ways. It was our only option for playing games at home. Great times!

Old games couldn't hide behind great graphics. They HAD to be fun to be successful.

I remember finally beating the c64 version as a kid. I got to the marshmallow man a few times, but he always killed me. The one time I managed to make it was so amazing to my 9 year old mind.

GB2 for PC was great! I still remember the awesome Statue of Liberty section, controlling her with the Nintendo power pad.

The arcade Ghostbusters was a reskin of some other game. I remember seeing it in a lobby of a hotel near Disneyland once as a kid and never again. I almost thought i imagined it lol

Totally agree with your top picks. Nice to see New Ghostbusters 2 getting some recognition. It's a crime that game never made it to NA. Will definitely be checking out the new Ghostbusters movie. Afterlife was a pretty solid movie and an excellent send off to Egon and Harold Ramis.

It was by Kemco, so I figured they used the Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle engine.

#1-2009 Ghostbusters. #2 - the Japanese only New a ghostbusters, which I do have now. #3 NES Ghostbusters 2- which I grew up with.

Arcade Ghostbusters was the best! When I found MAME is 2004, that was one of the game I played till the end. I threw enough quarters in it before MAME. It was a dream come true. LOL

It's very repetitive but still fun.

My favourite is New Ghostbusters 2 for Famicom, Genesis for Ghostbusters which there is now a mod version which includes Winston and Louis as playable characters and other game modifications. Ghostbusters 2009 of course which I have the original PS3, Wii, PS4 and Switch of the game. The latest Ghostbusters Spirits Unleashed is ok but what makes it better is now some cosmetics enable you to create 4 Build a character slot to create the Real Ghostbusters characters including their coloured jumpsuits and the proton pack and PKE shell from the cartoon. So basically it is the Real Ghostbusters game that I dreamed of as a kid even though the game is pretty tough sometime when you switch it to very hard mode. If you want to play as them, only the PC, PS4 and PS5 have these features. I think the Switch version doesn't have it.

Yeah, I heard about the Winston mod for Genesis. He doesn't show on the screen with the others though...

So the deal with Genesis Ghostbusters is that you can fire diagonally by holding up at an angle. You can defeat that first mini boss by standing in front of him and shooting upwards. I’m not great at the game (despite owning it as a kid), but you can watch a stream of me playing it on my channel.

I knew there was Ghostbusters games out there but did not know there was this much. lol

PS2 and Wii had the same version. PSP and NDS had a different one.

"PSP and Wii..." PS2: Am I a joke to you? I didn't play that much of Ghostbusters games, mostly New Ghostbusters II and the 2009 game on PS2. Fun fact: The Real Ghostbusters arcade game was basically a reskin of a japanese game with the GB license, not only that but Data East kinda fixed some of the issues of the original game.

Ghostbusters (C64) - I liked this game, but I always felt that the driving sequence could have used some traffic on the road. Not cars driving all over the road, but something to justify the driving parts. Sure, you could vacuum up the ghosts (which helps keep the city's PK energy in check), but otherwise it's kind of pointless. Also, i always wished that there was more to the ending than just sneaking past Mr. Stay Puft. I'm aware that the NES section where you climb the stairs was rage inducing and I wouldn't have wanted that, it's just that the ending felt a little anticlimactic. This version of the game let you use a number to "save" your ending bank balance, but this was kind of a trap. Having more money meant that you could spend more money on stuff in the next game. However, the more money you spend, the more you have to make by the end of the game, or you'll lose, even if you otherwise beat the game. Finally, the C64 version had an interesting bug: When you arrive at a building, if you position both your men facing the same way, and placed EXACTLY on top of each other, so that it looks like there's only one guy there, when you fire the streams, the ghost will freeze in place. Ghostbusters 2 (computers) - I never liked this game. I tried it on both the C64 and Amiga and thought it sucked. The Real Ghostbusters (computer ports) - The first time I played this, I thought it was just some ripoff game written for home systems. It wasn't until later that I learned it was an arcade game. And then many years later, I learned that it wasn't even originally a Ghostvusters game, which is why it has so little in common with the movies. I never cared for this one either.

There's a hack for the NES that fixes many of the issues. It's actually not bad.

Words cannot explain how empty I felt as a kid when I was excited to play Ghostbusters on NES only to get that game…😔😟

I remember getting Ghostbusters for NES back in the day. What a disappointment that was. That New Ghostbuster's 2 looks fun, going to check that out. Need to pick back up playing Ghostbusters 2009 at some point, what I played of that was fun!

The 2009 game is really good! I got the Genesis one when I was a kid and didn’t really like it much. Maybe I would like it more now.

Great vid! I have a full playthrough of the pc dos version of Ghostbusters 2 on my channel. It's far easier with the mouse as your control method. By far my fave is New Ghostbusters 2, though Ghostbusters 2009 is a close second. The pc dos version of Ghostbusters 2 was one of my first pc games, so I have lots of nostalgia for that one.

3:14 you really couldn't figure out that you could aim diagonally from the ground? You can't beat many of the bosses without doing that

Man the C64 game sucked, my 11year old self loved every second of it. Much better than playing "stroker ace" (Dare you to look that up, got nothing to do with a Burt Reynolds movie)

@@GregsGameRoom The game is just called "Stroker", there 's no "Ace" on the end of it. The name is descriptive of the gameplay. It's actually kind of impressive in that it was made with all PETSCII graphics. In other words, it was basically in text mode, using the graphics symbols printed on the front of the keycaps, which you accessed by holding down the Control or C= keys while pressing a letter key.

I decided to watch this to see what I missed growing up. As a kid and teen I could never get interested in video games. I tried to force myself to be interested but that never worked. It still seems like a boring way to spend time even though games are more life like now.. I still don't fall into these mind manipulations and marketing schemes. Life is more fun without video games imo.
