Ghost Train: Rugby to Leicester (Lost Railway Animation)

Фильм және анимация

A recreation of the lost Central Line railway between Rugby and Leicester Central! #Rugby #Leicester #railway
The Central Line was opened in 1899 however by the 1960s, the line was considered by Dr Beeching as an unnecessary duplication of other lines that served the same places, especially the Midland Main Line and to a lesser extent the West Coast Main Line. Most of the route was closed between 1966 and 1969 under the Beeching axe including Rugby Central and Leicester Central.

Thank you James for another brilliant video. I always see the tree line from Lutterworth on the left hand side of the M1 as I drive up to Shepshed to see my daughter. I read that the reason the M1 was built next to the Great Central here was it was easier to get planning permission. The reunification going on between Loughborough and Nottingham is great to see developing. Glad the local councils are letting them do it. The Great Central seven miles from where I live is being used for HS2 Shame they’re having to demolish lots of the original bridges but at least they’re making use of the track bed Keep these coming please

Well presented, I grew up alongside the line and knew it well, I have many fond memories from the mid late 1950's on to the end of the line

Very good work, just one point I`d like to make, the 1887 view would not be possible as the GC was not opened until 1899.
