Ghost Town Gold of Corinna Tasmania
In this video we visit the remote gold mining town of Corinna, which in its peak was home to thousands of prospectors. We visit the Middleton creek area which is where the rush all began, explore some old hut sites and pan the creek for gold.

Pieman River is the Promised land. Been travelling there since 1970. Thank you to my dad for taking us there and having a shack.
Rob you are one of the rare, consistent talents on KZread, we appreciate you, your insight and your island state so much :)
No matter how successful or unsuccessful your trip is, every single upload is entertaining from start to finish! Amazing again Rob 💪🏽

Only a few minutes in and I'm thinking really good!!
My favourite part of tassie! Me and a mate hiked up Mt Donaldson at 2am to watch the sunrise, it was the most insane views I've experienced!
Gotta love Coorina! True middle-of-nowhere ;-)
Thanks Rob 👏👏👍 I need to revisit Corinna after watching that. 👍
Great video as usual. And from one of my favourite places in Tassie. Just watching the early release Part 2 on the Patreon channel now.
Love Corinna it's beautiful out there, love your stories from Tassies wild west coast. Looking forward to the next episode
Rob, growing up, we spent countless hours and most weekends trudging through the bush around Ballarat looking for gold. Remember one time back in the 80s, a stinking hot day I was up a fairly dry creek with a Garrett deepseeker metal detector. Dad was working away in the edge of the creek unearthing some buried sandstone bars. I wandered back to where he was working to get a cold drink and he yelked "feel the weight of this" as he threw something at me. Luckily I caught what he'd thrown - a 4 oz nugget, beautiful yellow Ballarat gold. This creek was worked by thousands of miners in the early days including many Chinese reknown to be thorough. Shows that they can still pop up and even well worked ground is always worth a look. After his find, we spent weeks there cleaning up the creek bed as well as a few test pits. We probably found another 2 ounces in much smaller stuff.

wow that is an amazing story! I don't think we even have nuggets that big anymore.

@@Rob.Parsons I found small pieces with the detector but nothing like that. In this particular area, found lots of chinese artifacts, coins, locks and other interesting things. Finding the nugget was a bit of a curse as we spent so much back breaking time there, trying to find its cousins :(
Thank you! I love watching you prosper! Best regards. Cristiano Ricardo @1212CRMD So. Am. Brazil

Hi Rob. Great video. Those stones look like an old stone pile around a traverse station or boundary mark from a surveyor. There have been many old surveys through that area for various purposes.

Incredible!!
3-Days ago & I only see the notification today! YT can be perplexing! Neat Adventure, Rob, I do enjoy your deep delve into the back story & History of your explorations, as to the untrained eye it all looks so pristine, but so much of it isn't, all kinds of doings have pre-empted your visit & I appreciate you educating us. The hotel looked very convivial - wonder if they mind Kelpies? Look forward to the next episode! Cheers, keep safe!
