Ghost: Silent Guardian | Character Analysis | ASOIAF

In more distinct ways than humans, animals sort themselves into a hierarchy from birth. The strongest survive and receive preferential treatment, which is earned mostly by their feral instinct and performance in the wild. The runts, meanwhile, either die or are pushed away, forced to forge out on their own or lap at the heels of their brothers and sisters. In A Song of Ice and Fire, humans, such as Jon Snow, saw this phenomenon unfold in their own lives, but it appeared rather plainly in the case of the great albino direwolf Ghost. Hello everyone, and welcome back to Exploring Fiction. Already separated from the pack when he was first found in the wolfswood, Ghost bonded to Jon Snow, together embracing their lives as outcasts. Where Jon went, Ghost followed, though sometimes the two grew separated for periods of time. Ghost slunk as a voiceless white shadow around Castle Black and beyond the Wall, waiting and watching and acting when the need arose. Like some of his littermates, he was locked up in times of great strife, and thus unable to aid his owner, but barring purposeful intervention, Ghost watched over his pack. So, who exactly is Ghost, and why is he such an interesting character? Let’s explore…

Another great video essay. You never miss! I had been hoping for a Ghost commentary, and it was even better than I'd hoped. I wonder if the parallels btwn GreyWind-locked-up-while-Robb-dies & Ghost/Jon scenario...means anything. Wonder if George did that purposefully, and if so, for what reason. I couldn't even guess, but it's fun to drive myself nuts trying to figure it out. Lol

Thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoyed! And yeah, I wonder if it might serve to compare and contrast Robb and Jon and how they both end up. I guess we'll see eventually
