Ghost Shark facts: aka Chimaera Facts | Animal Fact Files

Ghost sharks are also known as chimaeras. There are currently 50 classified living species, though more information may reveal more as these fish tend to live deep in the ocean. Sharks are, however, their closest living relatives.

    I love Chimera, I think they're the neatest fish, they're so interesting. The Long Nosed Chimera are my favorite, they kind of look like they're wearing a plague doctor's mask

    These are interesting fish of the deep. Another deep sea fish family you should do a video on is the Triglidae aka sea robins.

    Isn’t “Spookfish” a common name for Long Nose Ghost Sharks ?

  • @ginomcdonnell4512

    @ginomcdonnell4512

    Usually Spookfish is the common name for any species of barrel eye fish, though it can sometimes refer to chimeras as well. So yes, you could use the name spookfish for chimeras if you really wanted to.
