Seriously the aesthetic is more 60s than the 60s somehow. It is so well done. Even the camera. If the lyrics were different I legitimately think this song would have been way more popular. The guitar riff and even the way he yells is awesome, and catchy. If Austin Powers ever gets a new movie. This song with different lyrics needs to be made. I actually can't find songs like it. Can anyone else? I feel like I've heard some. Just can't find them. People keep sending Blue Oyster.

I love how fun the band is, and they don't take themselves seriously.

MASSIVE THEROY!!! Watch sister, and look at where she places her hand. She was pregnant with copia at the time of this video (1969), but nihil didn't know. That's why she got so angry at him and left him for good because she was so hurt by it. Perhaps she was planning on telling nihil, but after this, she never did. Also explains why she re-joined the clergy. After leaving nihil she had no reason to stay a part of the ministry, but because she was pregnant with his child, she needed to secure Copia's future which is why she became a head person in the ministry- why she's "helping" nihil so much!!! Omg please someome else is with me on this!!!

Now I'm shook. I'm still fairly new to Ghost, I only actually got into them during October last year, watched all the music videos in order, then watched all the chapters, but I always thought that Sister Imperator was like a 'mom' to Copia, but I never knew that she was actually his mother?? Admittedly I've only scratched the surface of their lore, though I can't wait to dig deeper because I really love them.

Notice how Sister's hand is over her womb the first time we see her and you never see her smoke the cigarette? She's not only jealous of the girl because of how she's looking at Papa, she's protecting their baby (Copia) and its showing why she left and didnt tell him! They're totally hinting toward it with the lineage thing too, she says she knows what she's doing and she does. She wants THEIR son as Papa. That's my theory anyway

It would all fit so perfectly IF the Dance Macabre video had been set in the mid to late 60's. Instead, the costumes, hair and makeup definitely give it a late 80's/ early 90's vibe. That's why I've decided to a try my hand at writing a comic book - just to correct the timeline in my head!

One other issue to iron out in order for Dance Macabre to be relevant: Papa Nihil wasn't a random unaware innocent - he came from THE long family line of Papas, and must have known of the role he'd play someday. So what did Papa know when he went to that house? Did he already know Sister? It's obvious she was already working within the Clergy. Maybe he had only seen her around... ? To make everything fit properly in my head, I've come to this conclusion: The gathering was a surprise party for Papa in honor of his induction into the Priesthood. He had seen Sister around, maybe when they attended the same Satanic college (Apollyon University, maybe?). And of course he had never worked up the courage to say hello.. And then, there she was, his college crush, in the flesh....!

I'm new to Ghost, but I am very impressed with your music. Amazing high quality stuff you produce. Brings me back to my youth. The lyrics don't phase me, and I'm sure some snowflakey gonna get the satanic panic achey and say something, but we have to remember this is art, entertainment, theater, and a good dose of sarcastic humor thrown in. Got to take the dark with the light to have balance.

When you put it like that it's even better! many criticize Ghost for having a "gimmick" but I find very refreshing and creative all this backstory which is intertwined with the album styles. The music would be the same anyway even without costumes, what's wrong with some more theatricality and some fun backstory added to it?

I know Tobias already said the next album is gonna be really dark, which I'm pumped for. But one day if he decided to add into the story Papa Nil finding some sort of fountain of youth and becoming the frontman once again, I'd be so down for a 60s themed ghost album.

Finally, a reunion tour. My Dad was raised on Ghost. Nostalgic rerelease.

Used to work at a local oldies station. Best of the 50s, 60s, and early 70s. Always enjoyed playing this classic track from 1969 on your home for the hits, Oldies 101.9 ! 😉

I like it a lot more than I thought I would. But that has happened before with Ghost. A song I originally don't care for ends up becoming a fav... Weird... But I dig the retro sound of this track, and the overall occultish vibe. And seeing a Papa back at the front was cool, even if it was from 50 years ago 😉😉

Tobias is such a fucking genius the story line he hs created is beyond me, i imagine him sitting in a middle class house in sweden in a basement or something and just create art for ghost, do you think he has it all planned to the end like when they “retire” or do you think it’s idea’s he is bringing up along the adventure? Wouldn’t surprise me if it’s all planned from a-z i just can’t figure out how much he had planned for ghost when he sat down with it for the first time. It really wouldn’t surprise me if he made the whole storyline from start to finish and just know what’s next every time

At first he said he didnt really have a story because it was more, for fun, persay. After the first albu or 2 (dont really remember) he gave the label a story that they wanted. Now he says he has a storyline about 5 years ahead. I dont think he has a full plan for the end. Or if he does he hasnt mentioned it in an interview ive seen.

Jeepers Scoob eh, I like this and Mary on a cross but a whole album would be meh besides this a flashback. The next album is “supposedly” going to be heavier, if Forge is playing on the dark ages thing for Prequelle then the Renaissance era is next, so maybe a revival of the Opus era when they were dark and heavy.
