Спорт

A walk through showing my "midlife crisis" build of a Gheenoe 13 into a microskiff sort of craft. I think it is gonna be a fun rig!!!

Very nice work ! That isn’t really a jack plate but if it is working, I would say great.

You went all out on building that Gheenoe. It looks great I just finished restoring my Waterbug. A heavier copy of the Gheenoe. Fiberglass is so easy to patch up.

Thanks for the video! Do you think a 13’ Gheenoe is stable enough that you could put a casting deck in the front with a seat on an 11” pedestal?

Cool rig! Did you make the trolling motor mount? How did you do that? And how did you attach the post mount for front seat?

Nice Gheenoe . I have a 1979 15'4" i purchase in in 2018, I wanted to repaint and do some mods, then found out it needed some repairs too. I mainly use mine for duck hunting in NC. What is the make and model of the jack plate you installed. I am wanting to install a jack plate for my 5HP Honda 4 stroke. I'm looking at going to the max of a 9.9 hp, but now thinking of that mud motor. Do you have any pictures of the transom set up with the jack plate.

I love what you did to the bottom, but did you ever give an idea of putting GATOR GUARD all along the bottom from TRAILER HITCH TO STERN? i DID saves my bottom in oysters and only slows my boat speed down by about 2mph at full speed. ( I have 25 hp)

Nice job it turned out great just remember to wear that kill switch cord on your wrist I picked a guy up that the prop got his legs from the steering breaking and throwing him off the boat and 200 hp motor’s prop got him good, he wasn’t the only one I helped in 50 years on the water!

Nice build I just bought one recently it’s a older 14 foot model and been fixing it up. I’ve been trying to make a front deck On it and remove the live well I’m the middle of it and I was wondering how did you make your front deck

  • @ChrisFunktheFeralOne

i used cardboard to make a template for the area then used 1/2" plywood wrapped in fiberglass to make it out of. it is strong and will last a good long time!

I came buy to watch the Gheenoe video, I just don’t see myself as a kayak guy. But want something to go up these shallow rivers in south central Florida. So maybe a Gheenoe would be a good choice for me. Thanks for sharing After 3 years what’s your opinion now.

honestly, i am a kayak guy LOL i loved this and may one day be back in one, but i do have a larger aluminum rig when i am not in the kayaks. after about 5 years it only has about 50 hours on the motor because i am more often than not in the yak!

I know this is an old post, but I was wondering where I can get a grab bar like that. Gheenoe has a pretty expensive one that mounts in the center, but I like the way yours is off to the side...

i just built that out of bent conduit sir, but i know there are some side mounted ones on the market. may have been on the swamp runner site if i remember one of them.

@@ChrisFunktheFeralOne Thanks for the reply. Love how you put that boat together. Everything is so practical. I did find someone fabricating side-mounted grab bars, but now I am thinking I could do it myself with conduit and straps! Too bad about the rocks issue. I would love to see what you would have done with this boat over the last couple years.

If you pick up the engine when on plane and get the cavitation plate above the water line and it will get up faster

Hey, Chris! I am now the owner of this unit and man is it sweet! I do have a question for you, If you don’t mind… the floor on the front, in front of the seat, is getting soft and cracking. I’d like to repair and reseal this and was wondering if you could give me any advice on what you used and what you may recommend to patch this. Thanks in advance, and thanks for building such a sweet rig!!

awe man, sorry bout that! on the rest of the boat i used west systems resin and that stuff was expensive but awesome. i did the front deck after all the rest and used an epoxy from the auto store on it. i bet that is why that area is different! the west systems is worth the money for sure... wish ida done the whole thing at the same time!

Nice, I live less than an hour from there. Reading the comments I saw you sold it, but I'm curious if the motor was hard to maneuver around. (Especially with 2 people on board.) I have a 13' low sider and haven't decided what engine to upgrade with.
