Ghana Must Go: The Emotional History of Africa's Famous Bag
In 1983, the Nigerian government expelled nearly a million Ghanaians who had settle illegally in the country, giving them about a week to leave the country. They carried their possessions in these bags, which became known, first in Nigerian pidgin and then across the West African region as "Ghana Must Go", after the disturbing mass deportation exercise.
The fact.
The year 1969, former Ghanaian president Kofi Abrefa Busia's allien compliance order was signed. Nigerians were forced to leave Ghana. Reason for deportation was failure to comply to immigration laws. This did not go down well with Nigerians, but they had to leave. In 1983, president Shagari also announced that all foreigners without the right paper work had just weeks to leave Nigeria. More than half of the deportation victims were Ghanaians who had come to Nigeria in search of better living in the 70’s when Nigeria started to experience oil boom. It was a massive exodus.
Ghanaians, didn't take it well also. Till today, both countries still make references to the rifts. However, it is known today that both countries remain best of friends, as they have left the past behind.

The truth was that crime was high and it was Ghanian that was the perpetrators at the time. The president doesn't have choice because there was protest of crime committed by Ghanians.

That's not when NIGERIA was given African giant. NIGERIA was name African giant in 15th century by location not as NIGERIA. There's one European clergyman that was sailing around Africa, when he got to the location of the present NIGERIA, he said this is were the giant will come from and when he got to present SOUTH AFRICA, he said this is where the elephant will come from. So Nigeria is the giant of Africa and SOUTH AFRICA the elephant of Africa. Deportation of Ghanaians in 1983 from NIGERIA was a pay back time to what they did to NIGERIA in 1969,no apology.

Ghanaians we're kicked out only in revenge whilst there were many very close and well integrated Africans like the then neighbouring Togolese, Dahomey and Cameroonians who got on well with Nigerians.The oil is still flowing well now just like then so there was no bad economic situation then in Nigeria because the Naira was perhaps the strongest African currency then..I know that as a fact.Ghana and Nigerians are still not good because Nigerians mostly still prefer dealing or marrying Nigerians or others abroad while Ghanaians do so with themselves also
a Ghana must go but always found with Nigerians
