    Vlisco Group was founded in 1846 in Helmond, The Netherlands by Pieter Fentener van Vlissingen Fentener van Vlissingen started exporting imitation batiks to what was then called the Dutch East Indies (now, Indonesia) after he was told by his uncle that there was a pressing need for affordable fabrics. Once the Dutch East Indies (Indonesia) banned imitation batiks, Fentener van Vlissingen had to search for a new market to sell his goods. In 1927 the company changed its name to Vlisco, a contraction of Vlissingen & co.

    Hi, Please the Angelina is a traditional Ghana cloth, the pattern was taken to China and reproduced (cheaper but same Ghana pattern). Also the Asasaa is a mixture of traditional Ghanaian clothes and not the other way round. The main clothes existed before they took parts of their patterns and made the Asasaa out of it. Thanks

    Young lady, it will be best to research before you feed people with the wrong information. The iconic Angelina print was created by a Vlisco textile designer. Toon van de Manakker based the design of the print on the 19th century Ethiopian noblewoman’s tunic. Commonly known as the Angelina print, this print is widely worn in West Africa, in countries like Ghana, Nigeria, Togo and Benin. When the print's popularity peeked in the 1970s, the highlife song “Angelina” by Ghanaian artists Sweet Talks & A.B. Crentsil frequently played on the radio. Angelina is no way a Chinese design, but an imitation as they do best.

  • @BySakeena

    @BySakeena

    6 жыл бұрын

    Kimmie yep for brands like GTP who have their authentic brand sticker, barcode and hologram on one side of a 12yard cloth. However if that cloth has been split into 6yards or less there will not be any of these labels on each yard or section. Sadly not all brands have authentication labels in circulation yet like GTP.
