OP never mentions his parents being abusive, estranged or showing obvious favoritism before this incident yet they just randomly decided to help his girlfriend step out with his brother? 3. One message from his ex telling him to get lost and he just gives up looking for any kind of explanation? 4. OP's parents are somehow able to leverage their entire family and OPs entire circle of mutual friends to participate in a grand deception for 5 years and not a single person cracks and just tells OP? 5. OP's parents have enough contempt for their son to directly assist in his betrayal and humiliation via a ridiculously elaborate cover up, but then just agree on a dime to change their wills to exclude the brother they went to all that effort for in the first place? This is the third or fourth time hearing this story. A couple things have bugged me about this story. 1. The Will can be changed at anytime by the parents, of course they would have to go through their lawyer. 2. The OP's lawyer has nothing to do with the will unless he is the same lawyer for the parents. 3. The Father does absolutely nothing in the entire story. Just seems strange he shows no leadership. 4. The ending says the OP is doing writing....sounds like this is a fake story to me. A good story but still fake.

Working on himself with a good therapist is the best place to put Op's energy right now, and if down the line he is interested in some sort of revenge it should be dispassionate and planned meticulously. He may even find that by deferring an anger-filled response that something else may happen that he has no involvement in that is just as satisfying. Looks like the family needed to learn karma and actions have consequences the hard way. A family keeps this secret for five years and the ex and brother thought him being in another relationship would be the best time to spring it that they were manipulative idiots. Like, you mean to tell me that just as you were about to propose to your girlfriend she vanishes for 5 years and it turns out she went to live with your brother and your parents facilitated it, and you're not in the least bit curious as to why? Instead you get one text from your ex telling you to fuck off and you just give up? Honestly the Ex's motives are the least interesting. Sometimes people step out in their partners, sucks but it happens, not exactly a mysterious or unusual thing. But parents facilitating infidelity against their own children is really unheard of. The dude never wonders why they would do this seemingly out of nowhere and doesn't even bother to open the texts they send? I imagine most people, if put in this situation would immediately go straight to their parents house and demand an explanation, but this guy just doesn't care? It seems like you're defying basic human instinct at that point. Well, after reflection it seems Op has appropriately focused on the betrayers he cared about the most- his parents, who facilitated this entire fiasco. After the ex's sociopathic response he realized he'd dodged a bullet as far as she was concerned. And he also realized that there was no point in looking at those emails and texts because he was still too emotional. He showed great restraint. I can easily see a version of this scenario happening to someone.
