Some of y’all gotta realize professors have different standards for people who just train for bjj itself and people who train mostly in a competition matter. They know the standard to win tournaments possibly the Worlds is very high so they gotta know if they’re athletes are prepared. From my own personal training I know my professor may graduate someone before me even tho they been training for less time than me but that’s because he knows my potential and goals. I know the day I get my blue belt it will be well deserved but just the beginning of new journey.

You just have to do what is best for your growth. He immediately wanted to compete (1 month in). He trains every day and never misses any sessions. So in 3 months he probably made the average Jiu-Jitsu persons year-2 years in classes. Our white belts are urged to just go out, learn and have fun. Competition isn't for everyone and that's totally OK. You just do it when or if you're ready. Remember, have fun!

Jaime you could do it no problem! We have 60 year old hobbyists that train once a month that have done it. It's different for each person. This kid wants to compete and compete at a high level so it's very intese. I'm old as dirt so mine would be... less intense lol.

Testing for stripes is possibly the dumbest thing I've seen in 13 years of doing BJJ, lol.

That's how we do it here. We build commradery and a team atmosphere. We've also won some of the biggest team tournaments in the world. So to you and your team of Champions they you've built with your ways its dumb. To us, it's amazing. You should stop in if you're ever in the area. Would love to pick your brain on your 13 years of Jiu-Jitsu knowledge and see what else we're doing wrong. Hell, we're winning so many things now, with your help we may just win it all.

Making people think they have to ‘test’ for a stripe is the real joke here… If you feel they’re ready just give it to em.

Here, they do. I'm sure your gym is filled with World and Pan Champions all competing at the highest level. You should consider writing a book of all the things your instructor told you was the way to do things and then the rest of us (who are already having major success) could maybe go backwards and start all over with the way you and your coach think the world should be doing it.

So if he doesn’t test, I think that’s a good bar to follow. Think he’s had some world champs and pretty good instructors under him… but yeah you’re the standard everyone should follow I guess. But hey to each is own. Probably explains why Wiltse and others have jumped ship… hopefully the guy in the video didn’t have to pay to test lol. That’d just be horrible.

He's not embarrassing me or our team. He's actually cutting weight for one of the biggest matches of his life (top 10 black belt match) We're more into the build everyone up, don't cut anyone down method here. Maybe you train at a soft ass gym where everyone thinks whoever has on a black belt wrote the rules for everyone? They don't write any rules for us. So nobody really gives a f**k what you or whoever you learned your ways from thinks about what he's wearing from this club.
