I've made enquiries with a London Driving School 4 day course £620 I'm able to do this in my holiday. I already have my class 1. Your video is very helpful. I'm still employed it's something that I can fall back on if need be. Thanks.

i did that in 1971 when i passed my hgv1 in the RAF had to do all of it over 5 days and got everything correct and it did notr cost me a penny as i did 21yrs in raf

This is a great video. I am going to do ADR for exactly the same reason: DCPC is a joke. I may never use it. In fact, I gather that as a new ADR holder it will be v. hard to get ADR work, due to lack of experience.

That is my experience. Getting my foot in the door was impossible. I gave up and started work in the financial sector. I'm now thinking of going back into the industry as the pay is tempting. Not sure if it's worth the expense. I've got my Class 2 licence. Shall I go for my class 1.

Cannot understand why some call it a licence if you you read the card it says certificate and has done since its inception back in the 90s in the U.K.

Is the 3 day course core, packages and 1 day tanker course alot of info to take in, in a short period before your exam or is it managable.

Its a lot of info to take in but the exams are stupidly easy. Four option multiple choice questions with usually two answers that are clearly wrong one plausible and then the logical correct answer.

Thank you for the info, if you have any knowledge on how likely you are to get a an tanker ADR job with no experience expect this course. And1 year HGV driving? Please make a video

No idea sorry. I’ve barely dabbled with ADR in packages let alone got experience with tankers.

Can I ask, my husband has taken all of the core and package courses and has his adr licence for those, but is now specifically having to take class 2 gases. Can you confirm the test for this specific class is multiple choice, and only covers gases questions or if it is general adr as well? How many qs are there in the test?

I didn’t do a specific course for gases but I imagine it’s all roughly the same.

A lot to do for an extra 50p an hour! Don't seem to pay any more in my area for ADR now. Tankers maybe!!!

A one time expense for a recurring pay increase is always a good idea. Ok so it's once in 5 years, but still if you get extra pay it's good.

An extra 50p an hour over 5 years based on just a basic 40 hour week is £5200... minus the cost of doing the course (assuming your boss isn't paying for it) and you're talking less than a grand a year extra... why bother with the hassle and the extra risks.

No point doing refresher courses anymore as you only get 7 hours CPC. Might as well just do the full course again and get the 21 hours (28 with tanks).

It’s not impossible but not super common. Small tankers seem the most common class two from memory. Eg heating oil deliveries.

How Munch is it for the full adr license? I hear its anything from 1000 to 2000 but i smell bullshit bcos from wat i see its 350 or 400 but i even seen price for 185. Where did this couple grand pricing rumour start with adr bcos everyone seems to have the same tale.

Probably the first time it's expensive, to extend it after 5 years it might be a cheaper course?

Can you transport packages and drums on pallets without ADR if so does the come under the LQ

Depends on the what’s being transported some stuff has LQ and others don’t. You also need to take into account the packaging group as that will tell you the amount you can carry without crossing the threshold of full blown ADR rules.

@@RT-td1pv Again you need to know the specific UN numbers to see about LQ and packaging groups. One group allows 999kg, another is 333kg and I forget the third one but it’s something like 50kg. If you go over those numbers it’s full ADR with signage and the likes.

I allowed my ADR licence to lapse, can I take a refresher course or do I have to start from the begining again?

Signs can googled quite easily and what each means. As for practice tests I’ve never seen one but they are stupidly simple to pass.

If you pass the exams,they give you a proof that you can use to drive dangerous goods,or you have to wait until you get the card in your pocket by post in a month o so? Thanks

Cristi Aioanei With the electronic system we used you got your results straight away so you knew if you’d passed or not and then the card arrived in the post a few days later.

Nice but is it true that to land a tanker truck driving jobs is tough? Its like you have to know people because of nepotism?

Depends on the sort of ADR you are doing. Fuel tankers get quite a bit but your curtain sider guys don’t get much more if anything.

Depends how big or how many. A small amount could be carried as limited quantities but a whole trucks worth will almost certainly be adr.

I can’t believe they charge you to claim CPC on your ADR course. I’ve been doing ADR for years. If you do full ADR, your CPC is automatically updated with 21hrs.

DTW-TheWanderingMuzungu there shouldn’t be a fee. As soon as your ADR is issued the 21hrs add to your CPC automatically. Sound like a con to get extra money out of people. Bloody joke.
