    It is a good idea to have one place to write down everything. I find when I switch planners up a lot, I lose track of all those things that I have written as tasks. I do use the Reminders app in my phone a lot though for things especially with a due date so I do not forget and I also get that notification! For me, I think what I need to do is set up the lists initially at the location, such as to buy, to call, to do, etc. instead of brain dumping them all in one spot and then moving them all. It is a good system, and I have read the book but it is also nice to see examples!

    Thanks so much for watching and totally agree on initially putting it to that location! I definitely sometimes do this as well as just put it straight into the next actions list for example cause I’m too lazy to write it again or copy and paste hahah. Do you have an on the go planner that you write things down immediately into or rely more on reminders as well?

    I so relate and recently started using the GTD system. Your system looks great! It's interesting how differently GTD can be implemented and still work. I have a zillion happy planners so made those my frankenplanned project planners: 1 for my full-time job, another for my side hustle, another for my volunteer work, etc. In each of these, I prioritize and break down the projects into next actions. Then, I move all of the next actions to be done that week into my EDC planner. Good luck with the system. I hope it continues to work for you.

    So I have been watching your videos for years and have re-watched this and some of your other GTD videos bc you have really been SO inspiring and basically encouraging me to start implementing the GTD method in my planner! I’ve read the book, done so much research on it - but never really knew how to start utilizing it in my planner. I’m actually thinking of creating or putting together a planner just for GTD. I already have so much in my everyday planner, plus I think I may like having just a small Pocket or Personal planner filled with all my GTD inserts, to complement my everyday planner! ALSO - I just watched your more recent video of using your GTD Digital Planner….🤯 I mayyyyy just do that too!! Lol! Sorry for the long comment, I just absolutely love your content & Etsy shop! 💕 I wish there was a way to schedule 1:1’s with you, to go over any personal or more specific questions! Are you still using this method? I listened to David's book a few months ago (because my life suddenly became extremely busy with a million things I needed to get done, total task overload for me) but I've been struggling with how exactly to implement the finer details of the system into my planner. It's kinda funny because I was in a bound notebook last year and switched to rings specifically because I thought it would be much easier to implement in rings... got my new rings last month and somehow completely lost track of implementing the GTD system into it 🤦‍♀️ just goes to show what a total hot mess I am right now. Your video totally helped. I think I'm going through similar life changes that ypu may have been when you made this video, we are doing repairs on my moms house in order to sell it and building her a mother-in-law unit for her on our property, as well as trying to manage her estate since my father passed away last August, it's been a lot and we are only halfway there at the moment, so Thank you so much for sharing!

    great video thank you, you explained it so much better than anyone else and the book, the only question i have how would you do this in a weeks or a cousin as thats what use and i use the weeks as my everyday carry so it would have to be in there.

    Thanks so much for watching! So in a weeks mega I’d probably use the back pages as the master lists ie.inbox, next actions, projects etc. For regular weeks and cousin where there isn’t enough pages I’d just include these in a separate notebook (the hobonichi memo sets would be perfect as they come in weeks and A5 size!)

    Very helpful video! I read the book and downloaded your inserts but it's been at least a month and I'm having trouble getting started. When you did your initial brain dump, did you use your inbox insert or did you write things down on a single sheet of paper? Also, if you are back at work, are you planning to have a separate GTD planner or keeping everything in one place? Thanks!

  • @MomYePlans

    @MomYePlans

    2 жыл бұрын

    I totally understand how the initial dump can seem daunting! Honestly just start on the inbox insert and write down anything that comes to mind. Don’t even think twice, if it comes to your mind then write it down. Give yourself a couple days where you just write things down on the inbox insert until you feel like you finally don’t have anything else to write! Then you can go back to the insert and use the categories there to help you sort through your thoughts. If they don’t fit any of those categories then just cross it off. Don’t worry about it looking messy, after you get into the groove you can always clean it out and start a new inbox! Hope that helps!

    I’m still watching and see you have a second set of categories something about more “actions” but I can’t see what they say. Maybe it’s not relevant I’m not sure, I’m new to this whole thing and I am loving what you’re saying but I don’t know what the categories are still and do we need these categories? Do we make our own categories and what type of actions are these? I guess I’m confused I don’t know why am listing these things and I don’t know what kind of action I’m taking. I guess I should just buy the book and just follow along. I apologize. I am very new to this and I just don’t understand the categories that you have listed with the checkmarks. I don’t know what those are. Thank you.

    I'm in the USA. I had to use short term disability when my son was born cause my company didn't offer maternity. Before my short term could be used I had to use my vacation and pto. My son was born in Feb. So a whole year with no calling in or sick leave cause I used it. Plus my son was born early so a big portion of my leave we spent in the hospital. So lil bonding before I went back to work. When my son got covid from daycare I had to have my mom help with him cause I couldn't afford to take off. How do you know what your next action is? Do you create a project for the item in your inbox that is more than two tasks and add it to the project sheet and then take those steps for the next action until the project is finished?

  • @MomYePlans

    @MomYePlans

    2 жыл бұрын

    Exactly! So anything with multiple steps I’ll outline in the project (if it’s like literally 2 steps I’d just put in directly in next actions). For the larger projects I like to outline it all out separately as ideas come and go. From there once I’m set on the list of to dos I move it into next actions as they become ready to do. For example sometimes as I do one item it can create issues or additional considerations for the next task so I don’t move everything over, just the items I can actually do if that makes sense?

    I really hate the idea of an inbox.. just put it in its designated category/folder so you don’t have a clutter mess of everything at once. Also waiting on? If you’re waiting on something other than yourself to complete something I wouldn’t even bother making it on the list. Someday? That sounds more like a goals thing And next action.. how do you know what main task these mini actions are attached to individually? This format just seems so messy, too many steps that are unnecessary.
